It had a lot of facilities like the gym and swimming pool, nice harbour and opera house views. Excellent Breakfast.

It was a bit pricey and the room designs were very old.

This place is really first rate. Fantastic views over the harbour, and great 24 hours service. It's really a touch of luxury.

The cost: it is such that I can really only afford to stay there once a year, for things like birthdays or anniversaries

It's a nice place to stay. I chose the harbour view room for $490 /night. The view was fabulous, the bed was very comfy, nice facilities and very clean.

I stayed for 2 nights, which was lovely. However there is no fresh air to the room from outside, only the aircon unit which wasn't really fresh air. The room was a little stuffy by the early morning a result. It was a relief to go outside to breathe to be honest. Didn't eat at the hotel as pricing was over the top, compared to all the awesome cafes and restaurants near by with more choices and fabulous food at realistic pricing.

The rooms were very spacious. The view was sensational. Staff were perfect. Bar and restaurant on the 36th floor were lovely.

Great location with fantastic staff that went above and beyond and always had a smile. My mum and I were highly impressed with everything and she thoroughly appreciated the effort and hospitality she experienced for her 65th birthday. And of course the view was incredible

The staff were excellent; the location perfect.

As it was a long weekend, it was extremely busy and the atmosphere became chaotic. Lining up for breakfast for 40 minutes was not acceptable although the staff did all they could. Attention to the hotel’s ambience (which was evident on day 1 and 4) should be considered when accepting so many guests.

what did we like? honestly, everything. i’ve stayed at shangri-la sydney before for my partner’s 21st birthday, so i just had to come back and bring my mum to spoil her. it ended up being such an incredible experience from start to finish. we originally booked a deluxe opera house city king room but were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade to the executive opera house room on check-in, which made the stay feel extra special. the room itself was stunning with unreal views and just the perfect place to relax and take it all in. we also loved heading up to blu bar 36 for an espresso martini overlooking the city lights — such a great vibe, amazing atmosphere, and the perfect way to start the night. we even made a point to wake up early to watch our cruise ship come into port in the morning, and it was so worth it. overall, the room, the hotel experience, and the bar were all absolutely fantastic.

what didn’t we like? honestly, there wasn’t much at all to fault. if we had to be picky, it would be that in the room you had to pay for bottled water, which was a bit unexpected, and at the bar the still water also wasn’t mentioned as an extra cost upfront, so that came as a bit of a surprise and felt a little pricey. aside from that, everything else was fantastic and we had such a great stay.

The view

I didn't realise that the original booking room has no view but other buildings because it's low level, however I upgraded with additional charge. The shower shampoo was a small tube, it's hard to have 2 showers if you went for a swim on the same day.

The view was good. I celebrated my husband's birthday and there's nice surprise from the hotel. The hotel staff, John, was very nice, checked us in and sent us a complementary bottle of wine with beautiful lamingtons.

The view and hospitality were outstanding. I always love coming back to visit. The restaurant and breakfast are excellent, and the staff are consistently polite, friendly, and attentive. A special thank you to the team for making my 50th birthday feel so special and memorable. Their thoughtful service made my stay truly enjoyable.

The room was very clean and well maintained, and I appreciated the overall presentation and upkeep. The only area for improvement would be the bath towels, as a few were worn or torn and could benefit from being replaced. I also paid extra for a higher-level room, but was only assigned a room one floor above the standard level. I have stayed at this hotel several times and have never been allocated a room higher than Level 16. One of the main reasons I continue to return is for the higher-floor experience, so it was disappointing not to receive a room on a higher level despite paying the additional charge. This has made me consider trying other hotels in the future, as I haven't seen any benefit from paying for a higher-floor room during my previous stays

We booked an Opera House View room for Vivid Sydney and I expected an obstructed view of the Opera House, but I was elated to find a room with an uninterrupted view. We loved the padded seats on the window sill and we sat there often and stared out. The in room dining menu and service is exceptional. There is no reason to want to eat out. We dined in, in luxury, with an amazing view every night.

The room was a little dusty and there were grease marks where people rested their heads on the bed head. There were coffee stains on the fridge unit that I also cleaned along with the bead head.

Our keys didn’t work a few times and having to wait for the lifts to go down to reception to get them recut with kids was a little inconvenient especially during peak time but these things happen

A fantastic location with beautiful views. The room was spacious and well appointed and the bed was super comfy. Really enjoyed our stay!

Overall the property was excellent just a couple of niggles - The lifts were quite slow (we heard lots of other people complaining about this too) - it seemed like only a couple were working. We also walked out of the spa treatment we had booked because it was very unfriendly and they were running late and then we were waiting around for a long time without good communication about what was going on.

There was nothing I didnt like or complain about as I had a perfect stay.

The best staff and great location and great opera partial view room but not great not being able to get into the room till 5pm when we had been waiting from 3pm. Appreciate they were busy and all the staff we spoke to were delightful but pretty poor at this price range. Sure they sent a $10 bottle of wine once we were in but really cuts short the experience when we were only staying one night.

Love the breakfast and afternoon tea but as we come regularly we missed the little gourmet sandwiches as when you arrive after a busy day and you miss lunch it would be great to have at least one platter of mixed sandwiches.
