Our team spends countless hours digging through reviews, ratings, and traveler experiences across the web. We’ve also visited some of these places ourselves, but we’re not another travel blog run by someone claiming they’ve been everywhere.
What makes our recommendations different is that they’re not based on just one person’s opinion. They’re built on the experiences of countless travelers who have stayed there before you, giving you a broader and more reliable picture of what to expect.

We pull together recommendations from a wide range of trusted travel publishers and experts, including Lonely Planet, Condé Nast Traveler, CNN, The New York Times, Fodor’s, Frommer’s, The Guardian, and many others.
For each recommendation, we include quotes from the original source along with a link to the article, so you can easily explore the full review or find out why it was recommended.

We only feature places that score at least 4 out of 5 in customer reviews. That means when you’re browsing This Hotel, you’ll only find hotels, hostels, bed & breakfasts, and guesthouses that guests genuinely love.
The ratings shown on our website are based on real reviews from people who have actually stayed there. To give you the most accurate picture possible, we combine ratings from a variety of trusted sources, including hotel booking platforms, search engines, travel websites, official hotel websites, and more.

We’ve created a unique Value for Money Index to help you quickly spot which hotels give you the best value for your budget.
The index combines two key factors: a hotel’s average room rate and thousands of guest reviews collected from multiple booking websites and review platforms. The highest possible score is 100%. Since we only feature hotels with an average guest rating of at least 4 out of 5, you’ll find that almost every hotel on our site scores above 75% on the Value for Money Index.
Easily book with confidence and at the cheapest price
To make things easy, we’ve included direct booking links so you can reserve your hotel without having to search around. In just a few clicks, you can book through trusted platforms like Booking.com, Hostelworld, or Agoda. Many of these sites also offer price-match guarantees, so if you find the same room cheaper elsewhere, they’ll match the price and help you get the best deal.
We’ve also created a free hotel price tracker called Track This Hotel that can help you save up to 70% on your booking. Simply tell us which hotel you’ve booked, and we’ll keep an eye on the price for you. If we spot a better deal, we’ll let you know so you can take advantage of the savings.
How we earn money
We earn a commission if you choose to book through one of our partners. That commission never affects how hotels are ranked. By default, hotels are ordered based on how many trusted experts recommend them.
