Very Small rooms. A way too expensive for what you get.Its more a Hostel than a Hotel.

Excellent on every count. Unique as a building, beautiful location but reachable by public transport. Full breakfast buffet.

Of course, a prison cell will not be large. That said, we were surprisingly comfortable.

Location is perfect in långholmen, by a little beach, lush green, close to busy hornstull. The house is beautiful, my cell was tiny as expected, but works great. Breakfast is excellent. Night checkin no problem.

There were no negative surprises. We knew that the rooms were small (former jail cells) and that the hotel is a nice walk from the city centre.

We very much liked the historical significance of the hotel once being a prison, but converted into a charming, clean, and comfortable hotel. The included daily breakfast was outstanding! Also, the location of the hotel was very lovely and peaceful. The island it is on is dominated by wooded park space with walking trails with views of the surrounding lake. The hotel has it's own beach on the lake. It was an easy 10 minute walk to Hornstull metro station or to other public transportation. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel's museum was very informative and interesting about it's former use as a prison. Recommend Piccolo Angelo restaurant at Verkstadsgatan 14, 117 36 Stockholm, Sweden (about an 8-min walk from the hotel).

The rooms are small (they are converted prison cells afterall), but are cozy, comfortable, and make efficient use of the space. I truly did not feel anything negative about the hotel. It was a wonderful experience and I'm glad we stayed here.

It was a unique hotel in a small green island. There was a small beach near the front of the hotel. 10-15 minutes walk to the metro Hornstull. The walk to the metro was very nice. The breakfast was fantastic and there was lot of choices. My partner approved the delicious breakfast.

I am used in using a bidet and the hotel doesn’t have one.

Great breakfast and very cool experience staying in an old prison. Definitely would stay there again. Breakfast was delicious.

Unfortunately it is not super easy to reach using public transport.

The rooms are very small, hence for a big person, it might feel a bit claustrophobic. That said, the rooms are old prison cells, so it makes sense. The bathroom is comfortable.

This is a great place for a few days in Stockholm. You are staying almost in the city center, but you feel like you are staying in nature. Great location if you like walking - you can walk to the old town in 30-40 minutes. Convenient connection to all attractions. Great breakfast.

Wondering about the lives of those who served their time in the same cell. Didn't see or hear anything spooky though...

The room was spotless. We had everything we needed in the room. Walk to Slussen Metro. Where you can travel to the tour boats. The beach over the road from hotel is beautiful especially on a sunny day. There is an allotment to the right of this area. Also a small restaurant. Which is very good.

Nice green and quiet location yet only 7-10 min by foot from Hornby tube. On the way there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops.

We liked the location, the beautiful interior and lovely room. Very comfortable bed and bedding, very nice breakfast. If you like walking, we recommend walking to the city centre or Gamla Stan instead of taking public transport.

We had the small room, which was very nice, but the bed was squeezed in and my tall husband could hardly fit.

Good location. The rooms are nice but a bit cramped since they're converted prison cells. Great breakfast. I appreciated the little museum that they have on the premises. It only takes about 45 to 60 minutes to go through all of it it, but it was interesting to read about the history of the prison.

A very unique hotel reinvented from an old prison. Many of the original features have been lovingly restored. The beds were super comfy and the shower was brilliant. Staff were so friendly and helpful.

The fact that you could still see that it had been a prison, but made so very comfortable for current inmates!

Basically everything!! A hotel like this is partly for the experience! And that was incredible. For comfort, it's like any other hotel, but the add-ons make it special. And the breakfast was superb! Thanks from a repeat offender!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Långholmen! We were a bit hesitant to book at first because the location looked remote on the map, but it didn't feel that way in reality. The nearest subway station is only 15 minutes' walk away, and it's not a long ride to the central parts of the city. There are also buses running frequently from the other side of the bridge, and when we had to get to an event close to Globen/Avicii Arena, there was a convenient tram line one subway stop or a reasonable walk away. As to the amenities, breakfast was very tasty with a good range of options and the room was comfortable and clean. We really liked the old prison complex and the surroundings - the island must be very pretty in the summer! The small prison museum that was free for hotel guests was interesting as well. The staff were helpful and friendly: we were able to check in early when we came to bring our luggage, and when my husband got a migraine on our day of departure, the breakfast staff encouraged me to take food up to him and the front desk extended our stay so he could rest a little longer. We were very happy overall and will very likely be back!

There wasn't much extra floor space in the room and the noise isolation wasn't great, as we could hear birds singing and the gravel path crunching at all hours. But that isn't really the hotel's fault as it's an old (and I imagine protected) prison building; the cells are the size they are, and the windows are thin. We didn't mind, but if you are a super light sleeper, it might be a good idea to bring ear plugs. Cleanliness and tidiness were good overall, but the common rubbish bin next to the lifts and stairs could perhaps be a bit bigger or emptied more frequently. At one point, the bin was so full from late evening to midday that takeout containers and miscellaneous rubbish started to accumulate around it.

This is a charming hotel with a lot of character. The attention to detail put into repurposing the old prison makes it very authentic, and at the same time a super cosy place to stay. The cells aren't tiny at all and they have everything you need! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the surroundings are beautiful. The islet is full of greenery and great for walks and moments of calm. There's a little beach where you can swim (we didn't do it as it was rather cold during our getaway). It's also well situated and connected by public transport which makes it a great starting point to discover the city. The breakfast served at the hotel includes very diverse and delicious options too.

If you are a tall person, beware that beds in some rooms are 190cm long. :)

It's an amazing hotel. Clean, stylish, atmospheric, delicious breakfast, excellent staff. We liked it very much. If possible, we will definitely come back again.

Love how the property is designed as a comfortable hotel in a historic prison setting. The museum, art gallery, restaurant, and location are unique. Breakfast, restaurant, and island setting are wonderful. There are lots of lovely places to sit and relax throughout the property. The island is a peaceful place to wander yet close to everything.

This is my second stay so there isn't really anything I don't like.

I had a wonderful stay at this unique hotel! The breakfast was a highlight—having warm pancakes and freshly made scrambled eggs was a delightful surprise. The dining area offered a great selection of food, making for a perfect start to the day. The island location added to the charm, with beautiful scenery that made my stay even more enjoyable. Additionally, every staff member I encountered was incredibly professional, friendly, and welcoming. Their hospitality truly made a difference in my experience. The bed was also very comfortable, providing a great night’s sleep after a long day of exploring. This hotel is a perfect blend of history, comfort, and great service—I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting!

there’s one small “issue”… The hotel’s shower gel and hand soap are so good that I genuinely considered checking in a suitcase just to take them home. Unfortunately, since I only had carry-on luggage, I had to leave them behind—heartbreaking! Maybe the hotel could start selling travel-sized versions at the reception?

It was unique and also historical. The fact that it was an old jail is remarkable. It was refurbished very tastefully but still kept the prisons authenticity. Loved sleeping in a cell. It was near the water and the hotel was not too far from the city center, you could walk as I did takes about an hour or the train or bus are near by.

The place used to be a prison till 1975. I didn’t know that till I arrived there. The room was very small (of course it was meant to keep one prisoner) with a small window. Of course a matter of taste but I wouldn’t want to sleep somewhere that has such a history.

Not being able to book for parking. I avoided using the car during the weekend, because I wasn't sure if there will be any space when I return.

I liked the history behind this hotel. The museum about this ancient prison was really interesting. Thus, it stayed with this aspect of « cells », and I thought it was really cool!!

Pleasant stay at Långholmen, the old prison is beautifully changed into a Hotel with a eye to the past with respect. Friendly staff, easy to access en just a few minutes away from te metro to Stockholm center. Good and well arranged breakfast in the morning. Two points to have attention for when you book. Some 2p rooms have a smaller bed and the (old prison) doors are not perfectly isolating the noice from outside. So when other people are walking on the hallway you hear that clearly. But the ambiance of the hotel makes everything good, we will go back in the future.

Unique accommodation in a tastefully decorated “prison”. The beds were not huge but extremely comfortable. Breakfast was varied, plentiful and delicious. Interesting museum on the premises. Everything was above expectations.

Decent breakfasts with a wide variety of food, and very helpful, cheerful staff. The beds are comfortable, and the bathroom is clean. Staying in a former prison cell was a unique experience.

I was slightly disappointed that there was no sauna, as it would have been a perfect way to end a day of sightseeing. Nevertheless, I don’t see it as a major drawback and would recommend staying at the hotel to everyone.

Didn't like the location, far from the city center, the underground was 10 minutes away. Not enough location marks on the way, we searched for the entrance half an hour.

Great concept, hotel in the former prison. Rooms are cozy and clean. Excellent breakfast with a wide selection. Just a 10 minute walk from metro station. Beautiful scenery around the island. A young man at the reception also answered all my questions regarding prison history. It is a value for money for sure! Huge recommendation for everyone looking for unusual hotel stay.
