Hotel Haymarket by Scandic, Stockholm

Superb location, right in the heart of Stockholm City

The first room we were offered was a ‘disabled’ room, but this was quickly & efficiently changed by the excellent receptionist to a better room , a floor higher, directly overlooking the large Market Square.

The first thing you’ll notice about this accommodation is its unbeatable location. Situated right in the city center, it’s surrounded by everything you might need and is just a short distance from the central station, making it especially convenient. The next standout feature is the hotel’s décor and design.

The room size isn’t particularly spacious, and rooms overlooking the inner courtyard aren’t the most appealing. The layout of the rooms can also feel a bit confusing, almost like navigating a maze.

Everything was good

Very professional staff. Room was tidy, comfortable bed with different pillows to choose from. We were able to check-in an hour earlier.

Light by the mirrors is terrible. It looks nice but it is way too weak for proper mirror use. There was a constant, high-pitched sound. It was noticable only when the room was silent, so quite annoying when falling asleep.

Excellent location to explore Stockholm. Close to main public transport hubs and Gamla Stan. Good breakfast on offer with fresh waffles and omelets. Nice cocktail bar downstairs. Early check-in was appreciated.

Not the cleanest. Questionable stains on the furniture and rug in the room. Corridors with dust on the carpet. Poor air circulation and windows cannot be opened. Overall in need of a refresh.

I paid the early check-in fee twice, and arrived only two hours ealry

Breakfast was good but not extraordinary. In this price category I expect more variety. Despite turning the heating all the way up, the room never got warmer than 20° which was not ideal for me.

Loved everything but the bathroom was so small and tables in the room so tiny, nowhere to put things. Great location and great staff

The lighting in the room was hard to control. It was crazy which switch worked which light

Nothing was too much trouble. I requested for balloons and banners to be placed into room for my partners birthday, the hotel did this for me with further questions needed- they even wrote a personalised birthday card. Room was clean and very spacious, the bar was lively all weekend

location is fantastic and the room really cosy and stylish. Staff was gnerally efficient - we did not find them partocualry warm, but this may just be a cultural difference. super positive: room style, clealiness, cinema night, general facilities of the room and the hotel in general and location. Highly raccomanded

only few little things made it not perfect: hot water for the shower was not consistent or very hot on friday and Saturday (but was good on Thursday) and the TV int he room was not working so we were disappointed when the cinema night was cancelled.

-location -nice ambiance -staff helpful -gym - they accomodated a request to change my room on arrival. I was too far from the elevator

-Not great value for the money. ie breakfast was not included. - had to request cleaning daily - breakfast should have been included in the price - I stayed 10 days which is a good length of time. I had to negotiate getting breakfasr included if we stayed on further.No further benifits were offered.

Extremely beautiful and authentic Art Deco interior which gives the hotel a very unique charm. And not just in the lobby, but in the thoughtfully designed rooms, as well. And they even carry the Classic Hollywood/Art Deco theme down to details like the period music in the restaurant and even an old film projector in the lobby to create an immersive experience. Great breakfast, too!

I don’t know when fancier hotels discontinued having robes, but it would be nice! TV system’s a little outdated and clunky with some errors even watching basic cable. Also, do be careful to book a room with a window—because most don’t have them, given the limitations of the historic building layout.

My bed unfortunatly was way too soft and was unable to adjust the settings with the remote given which unfortunatly left me with quite a sore back but overall the room was pleasant

Beautifully designed hotel, friendly and very accommodating staff

The location of this hotel is excellent-7 min walk from the central station. I booked a spacious room with a window, so the room was nice. The hotel itself has a good vibe, the bar is full in the evenings. A jazz band was playing in the lobby the other day which even added to the good and cool vibe.

So I booked a bigger room just because it had a window. My room was overlooking the square in front of the hotel, where multiple booths are selling flowers during the day. And all was great until 3 am when incredible noise started. I found out that every evening all the booths are put away so they can clean the square. At 3 am every day a guy with a tractor is bringing back all the booths. Around 6 am all the sellers start to unload their flowers using their trolleys on the square paved with granite setts. Imagine the noise from 3 am onwards in combination with the hotel windows that are not soundproof, where you hear every step, word, movement… Since I didn’t want to sacrifice my room, earplugs were the solution and the hotel kindly provided them to me after I shared my problem…- Thank you.
