Hostel STF af Chapman & Skeppsholmen, Stockholm

Beautiful quiet location on an island within walking distance of the city centre and old town, really comfortable beds in a spacious room, good kitchen and laundry facilities.

Nothing at all

Clean, comfortable, worth a money

Dorm room was very spacious and it was convenient to stay. Spectacular views over the windows. It was extremely clean everywhere. Temperature in a room was perfect for sleeping. Staff was friendly, and I enjoyed staying in their lovely cafe.

Soap is missing in a room, however there is a possibility to buy toiletries at the reception. Lamp and charger above the bed didn't work. Breakfast was expected to be better (no pastries or croissants). Not many opportunities to meet other guests (no common events or public spaces). Even though the hostel is situated in a quiet place near water (which I really liked), however it is at least 15 mins walk to a city center (busses don't run late in the evening).

The hostel was very clean, including the communal areas! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It was short walk to Gamla Stan.

The location is fantastic, less than 10 min walk to Gamla Stan. It was only an 18 min walk from Central Station. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. There were plenty of little communal areas to sit and relax in. It was peaceful enough for a large hostel, noise not bad at all. The price is more than reasonable, we paid £250 for a 6 bed room for two nights, 2 adults 4 children. The room we had was warm, others complained of it being cold but we found it comfortable. The breakfast was very good, £33 for a nice buffet for two adults and two children, plenty of choice. It is a good place to stay for a family on a budget.

The facilities let this place down. There was one shower and two toilets for the whole top floor of 5 dorm rooms. This was very poor and led to lots of waiting around. There was no water fountain or tap to fill water bottles up. We were told to use the ones in the bathroom but the sinks were small so not able to. No cups available so water had to be bought in plastic bottles, yet they are pushing ‘eco’ stays. There was no kitchen as it was being refurbed, not warned in advance so no kettle for drinks or anywhere to store food. The beds were average. The pillows, bedding and towels were inadequately small/thin. The hanging and storage in the bedroom was poor. There was no seating in the room. All in all, a solid 7/10. We have stayed at the Steel House in Copenhagen, that is the gold standard they should be aiming for

Location and staff were great!

We stayed here on new years eve and had a door outside our room that was used almost all nigth with about 5-10 min gap. I am sure if you have another room not so close to the entrance it is better and I am also sure new year had somthing to do with it. it is a great place but the doors are thin..

The harbour and city views from our room were amazing.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect: a quiet island, with bridge to mainland, only a 20 minute walk to train station or to old town, with a bus stop 1 minute walk from hostel's door. Two ferry docks, one on the island and one on the mainland, were each a ten minute walk away. Ferries are part of Stockholm's public transportation network and ferry rides are included with the guest card. We loved using the community kitchen since one of us has a long list of unusual food allergies.

Doors slammed shut. Powerful springs on the doors mean that even when other guests are quiet, the doors can wake you up.

Great location and nice atmosphere

Pretty basic accommodation, price was not fantastic. Breakfast was a bit basic.

Best location for access to all of Stockholm but also no traffic and peaceful.

The hostel is about 5-10 minutes walk from Gamla Stan and it is a clean comfortable place to stay. We stayed in a private room with a double bed and bunk. There is a laundry to use as well as a cafe. Expect to pay 200 kronor for a taxi ride from Central station at Vasagartan

We like everything!

I hesitated writing a good review, because it feels like I discovered a well-kept secret. Totally worth the cheap price, set in a wonderful location, close to the center, in peaceful surroundings, and a standard that is worthy of upmarket hotels, yet with the affordable price of a youth hostel. Friendly staff too. We'll definitely be back.

The location was perfect and super quiet. We walked everywhere from this central location. The view from our room was beautifully situated to see across the water to Old Town and the boats on the water. The kitchen was great to cook in and there was ample space for many people to have food in the refrigerators.

We liked everything! We would just suggest that the rooms have one more rail of hooks to hang towels as we had used up the main rack to hang jackets. Or...have a jacket rack as during winter we had bigger coats and in summer I imagine it rains and they need to be hung up to dry. Also, maybe a cheep plastic tray to put wet boots and shoes onto so it doesn't soak the floor. Great place!

Lovely views, staff were amazing, facilities very decent but obviously reflective of price. Near the 65 bus stop. Anna on the evening shift was absolutely brilliant, but all the staff were great. We had a 2 year old with us and were able to get a travel cot and do laundry no problems.

Slightly tricky location for eating later at night if you don't want to go into town. But that's really just a matter of planning ahead and also you might get lucky with the small cafe on premises as we did on our first night.

Location is stunning. The island of Skeppsholmen is beautiful, right next to city centre. Moderna Museet is nearby. Staff was friendly. View from the room was nice. Building is also nice.

The restroom has two toilets only. Which is not much for the 10+ rooms of that same floor.

Placement of the facility, all places of tourism interest were close so there is a lot to do.

It would have been great to have the facility to make a coffee first thing in the morning as I had to leave before the breakfast Nd the cafe opening.

Only 2 comments: 1. They should have an elevator for those who carry big suitcases or have difficulty climbing stairs to the floor where the rooms are located. 2. As a recommendation: the place looks like a maze, with several corridors. More signs on the walls that help you find the rooms, would help a lot. Considering that when you are in the process of finding your room there is no one to help you, the place is so big that you don't cross paths with any of the staff.

Comfortable and clean in a massive property

Quite far from city centre and only one bus which runs infrequently. On the snowy days it makes it a bit hard to get around
