Château Laurier Fairmont Hotel, Ottawa

Location, historic building with charm, excellent food, great staff, nice gym

Cleanliness could be better, bathroom with no vent and old (but clean), old fashioned TV with pay per view with no modern apps and no connectivity, no spa/sauna/steam room

Stunning property, excellent location, very spacious comfortable rooms.

Valet parking can take a very long time when it’s busy.

Very central location, close to everything including the Parliament, restaurants and Rideau Cana.

Staff were rude and concierge did not know much to give us a good experience and direction.

The hotel was great, walking distance to Rideau Canal and downtown

The bartender at Zoe’s was exceptional. Kind. Courteous. Helpful. Attentive. Organized. Facilitated a vegan meal request with the chef for me. I found him exceptional. Thanks Roman !!! Special thanks to the chef on duty on Saturday January 26 who went off script to arrange and make a delicious vegan meal for me on request. It was amazing.

I found the bed linen very scratchy. Honestly Weston beds are better and without a doubt the bedding is far better.

Too busy, too expensive, couldn’t even get breakfast because didn’t have reservation. No real view and we paid extra for a deluxe room.

Service was excellent , hotel was clean and beautiful.

Strong smell of paint in our room during the day. We had to leave because it was giving us a headache. We told the front desk, but I guess nothing could be done.

The room was very small but comfortable

We were supposed to have a queen bed. The bed was very small. We were also supposed to have a shower and not a bathtub.

Proximity to everything.

Bed was too soft and the valet parking at checkout. Took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our car and we had to complain to get it. The hotel lobby was full of people waiting for their cars.

The rooms are definitely not at a 5 stars hotel, but more as a 3 stars. The soundproofing is bad, they could just change the door to improve it, but the wall remain thin. The bathroom is also bad and old. And the room was not particularly clean. Definitely not a 5 stars hotel or even 4.

The room was great and the view of the Parliament in the evening was lovely.

Location is excellent , restaurants can be avoided but hotel is great specially a bangladeshi person transferring luggage , valet can be more polite but overall experience was great , restaurants are very near to the hotel

in house restuarants were not good , valet service is not upto the mark i feel outsiders coming to hotel all day is also a issue for in house hotel guest as this is kind of museum as it as bulit in 1912

I was very upset with the pool area! No hot tub or sauna.

It is a beautiful hotel, full of history and beautiful architectural details! The staff is very friendly and professional. The room was well-appointed and clean. The decorations for Christmas were exceptional.

The room was very small for the price, but it was the holidays, so this is not unexpected. We were surprised to be able to hear the sound of our neighbour coughing through the wall - it felt like he was in the room with us at times! Dinner in the restaurant and drinks in the lounge were steep, but breakfast was a fair price.

The location is absolutely great.

The staff at checkout messed up my bills, overcharged me - eventually refunded, and weren’t able to work their payment systems.

The atmosphere and grandeur was amazing. The coffee shop take out was great

the Wifi and TV was terrible - sketchy - in and out Zoe's had a great view of the train station and lights The food at Zoe was unacceptable. The Foie Gras was definitely not fresh, barely spreadable and had little taste. A big disappointment at $42. The onion soup was not acceptable, luke warm, tasteless broth and the melted cheese on top was not Gruyere. The service and view was outstanding.

The hotel's location is very convenient because we were going to visit Parliament Hill the next day, and it only took 7-8 minutes to walk there. It was also very convenient to go to the nearby Mall. There was a strong Christmas atmosphere in the hotel, with various Christmas trees.

The employees were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome!

Great location for touring

Luxurious, and you can feel the difference from other top chains hotels. Gold lounge is great. Breakfast is good. Staff were the best. Location is perfect.

Parking is a bit expensive, $60.

The location is unbeatable, it's in the middle of the historic center with a walking distance to the parliament, museum of history, mint and national gallery.

The facilities could use some improvement. The bottle of hair conditioner was empty, and the shower had issues: only the waterfall shower functioned properly, while the handheld one did not. While these are minor inconveniences, they are unexpected for a hotel of this standard.

Room was not cleaned after the first day

The staff were very nice.

The room i stayed in ; Needs a new mattress .. lumpy Needs a deep clean - lamps, window sills, switch plates were dusty The shower curtain had yellow stains at the bottom Bathoom walls by the toilet were dirty Toliet rocked ..need a new seal. The door man needed a shave and not to wear track pants. Conceirge was in a ill fitting suite. Not the experience i expected for a Fairmont property.

Break is was yummy and a sizable portion. Enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and service. Easy to order.

It was cold.

The hotel is close to many of sites and shopping mall.

It was a terrible checkin experience as there were only 2 staff to handle the checkin at 3 PM, which is the busiest time of the day.

Room queen with a view ok … , well 1 window … 34x50 … come on … 520$ room double bed… + parking 53$ on the bill… not worth it …

I was disappointed breakfast was late to open. I had meeting deadlines to meet and had to get breakfast else where.

The first night we were given a downgraded room. Booked a king room and we were given a queen room

Location was good. Property was beautiful. The staff was excellent… especially Sam on the concierge desk. Doormen were also very nice.

The outdoor lounge would have been nicer if it weren’t for a lot of bees flying around. There were a few shady homeless people in the area.

The location, the history in the property, the staff, the food is so good.

Need some maintenance, the room door was hitting all the time, and you can hear everyhting form the hallway. And there is NO BLACKOUT curtain, so at 5:30 am you have the sun in your face.

Lovely old style building! Great location.

Unfortunately, the plumbing is not up to date! Shower in bedroom was absolutely terrible! Barely a trickle of water! Certainly not strong enough to wash one’s hair! Thankfully there is a pool there, where I enjoyed my daily swims, and the showers, while still not perfect were certainly adequate for a reasonably decent shower.

The hotel was in a great location, near a mall, and provided access to all major sightseeing attractions. The room was large and comforatable and had a good internet connection. The hotel restaurant (The Terrace) was also nice and we did not need reservations.

The staff seemed a bit stressed out and overworked. The hotel was also hosting several weddings, and those individuals seemed to get more attention that the regular guests. The valet parking was not very organized and very expensive. The rooms were also very overpriced.

The overall experience is nice

The hotel did not meet my expectations for a luxury experience. The pillows were not down-filled, which is disappointing for a high-end hotel. Additionally, the bathroom felt cramped and outdated, and the towels provided were worn and in need of replacement.

The hotel is absolutely stunning! Location is perfect and the staff are extremely helpful, and friendly. Our room was lovely with a gorgeous view of parliament and the Rideau canal. Wilfred’s was an amazing dining experience. Their mocktails are delicious!

Only complaint were the extremely uncomfortable bed and the bathroom (not cleaned thoroughly).
