Staff is extremely gentle and respectful. The hotel looks amazing.

Staff is over-polite, they say sorry too much. My room was also still not ready at 4pm! Never had this happen to me before.

Location and size of room although I prefer to have a bath tub and shower. Only shower in the room and was a room for a wheelchair/disabled person.

Distance of room from elevator was too far. No bath tub. I stay at the Chateau because it has tubs.

Enjoyed the location

I paid for valet parking but more staff is needed first you had to notify that you needed the car 45 minutes before I needed it and dropping it off and getting the car was a nightmare other than the last morning at 6 am.

The best spot in Ottawa in term of view, staff, architecture. Amazing staff

Lack of charme at restaurant

The location is one of the best in Ottawa — just steps away from Parliament Hill, the ByWard Market, museums, restaurants, and shopping. You can easily walk to all the main attractions without needing a car.

Window blinds broken, lights did not work on day one, bathroom door hits (and is damaged by) bedside table (groove left in door from constantly happening), electric sockets not holding things in fully, remote control on TV down button not working, unable to use checkout on TV

Love the location and History of the property. Lovely Terrace for simple food and Drink with a great view.

Bathroom was small and the shower leaked all over the floor , this could have been solved easily by putting a seal on the door .

Absolutely everything, from the lobby decor to the detailing on the elevators to the friendliness of the staff and the fluffiness of the bed and the room's high ceiling!

When we.checked in we were given the wrong room, and complimentary breakfast the next day. However, the breakfast staff had no idea about this. Be sure to get a name if something is awry.

No valet parking Room overlooking a street

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the wait staff were superb.

The parking was a disappointment. I wish we were notified before hand about the lack of parking so we could of been prepared mentally after a long drive to get to the hotel. We had to park at the Rideau Centre underground parking, which was fine, but inconvenient to walk and navigate Ottawa to get around when this was our first time visiting.

Central location and amazing atmosphere.

Valet parking is a joke. We had to wait 1.15 h to get the car. For this price (63 CAD) I would have expected a faster and more efficient service. Especially that noone informed us about the need to request the vehicle in advance.

Nice size room. Good pool and gym. Good breakfast. Lovely terrace for a drink or bite to eat.

Rooms are a little bit dated but others will see this as part of the charm. Arrival was a bit chaotic because of the Ironman but this was unavoidable and was communicated in advance.

For a 5 star hotel I was disappointed by the standard of the room. There were no usb chargers only Canadian outlets so I could not charge my electronic devices. In addition, I needed to put the coffee machine/kettle on the carpet floor next to a power plug as the cable was not long enough for where the hotel placed it. Lastly, the few snacks (m&m’s etc.) that are offered in the room come with a cost (high and not indicated anywhere).

The location is amazing and the hotel is very comfortable

I had an issue at check out when they had to send me back my deposit. Their machine was not working and even if I went more than once, few hours later it wasn’t still working. They blamed on my card/bank, but it wasn’t the issue with other hotels.

The wifi isn’t free and had “connection issues” during our whole stay. The infotainment system across all fairmont properties is in bad need of an upgrade. The pool is nice but small and there is no hot tub or sauna.

Excellent location, very friendly stuff, nice room, and breathtaking views.

There were problem with extra charging because I reserved it online. The wait for sitting for breakfast was more than 20 minutes.

My only comment for improvement is the smell of the bedsheets and towels is like a vinegar. I smelled vinegar all the night while staying there

The price too expensive. The view, the size, the smell of the carpet were not good at first. After complaining I’ve obtained upgraded for a bigger room with a better view. After that, the experience was good.

The bathrooms were a little small and some areas of the building could use a refurbishment (like parliament) in due time. There are some areas with dust at the top that can noticed from the MZ level.

Exceptional staff, beautiful hotel, comfortable bed, large room and nice large shower. Very little noise from inside the hotel - some street noise at night but not bad. Compared to some other Fairmont locations the prices in the restaurants are more in line with prices outside the hotel. We had a great dinner at Zoe's - the oysters were fantastic.

At a hotel like this the downsides get fairly nit-pick-y as expectations are high. No fridge in room (available for extra charge). It would be nice if the mini bar had free milk for tea and lattes. Window blinds aren't blackout so room is fairly bright in the morning. Valet parking is the only option and at $60 per day is quite pricey, but the service was great. I'm not a fan of beds made with the duvet between two flat sheets and prefer an actual duvet cover but understand it is done this way for ease of changing the linens. To make the duvet come up far enough in the bed I had to untuck the bottom and adjust the sheets so that the duvet was still covered. I wished the bathroom had a nightlight as the only options at night were to use it in the dark or turn on the fully-brightness lights. I would have also liked to have dimmable lights beside the bed. This may be more of a me-issue but I banged my knee fairly badly on the banquette at the end of the bed while getting up in the night. Counter space in bathrooms is quite limited.

Location was perfect. Beds were incredibly comfortable. Love the Le Labo toiletries.
