Alt Hotel Downtown, Ottawa

Clean. Fresh. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy beds. Great location.

The room is clean and comfortable. The staff helps with everything needed.

There is no parking for the hotel. We had to park far away at a high fee.

Clean and cozy room. It’s the second time we choose Alt due to it’s location too!

Clean, great location and excellent staff, especially the bartender Zed. He was so personable and friendly and pointed us in the direction of excellent bars and restaurants in the area. He just made the lobby feel like a place you’d want to hang out.

No pool or hot breakfast options

The room was very clean , comfortable, & Modern. I ordered a bottle to the room for My Aniversary, the staff was so kind to include a personalized note. I loved that the hotel lounge had its own bar, pool.table, and lounge area. Ive never seen a hotel lounge so busy. Zeb, our bartender was very knowledgeable and always smiling , it made our experience that much nicer.

The room.did not include bottled water.

The duvets are wonderful...but probably too heavy for the summer months. We had to keep the thermostat at 19C at night...which seems a bit unnecessary.

Staff is super nice and the hotel is close to the main attractions of Ottawa. Despite Pride was around the corner, the room was quiet

No parking available, public parking is expensive. We had to ask for an extra towel every day, we always got -1. Bed was too soft for me with a very thick blanket

It was small and too expensive for its size. None of the amenities were really good either.

Quiet & clean room. Great location for day tripping. Wonderful friendly staff. Liked the refillable options for shampoo etc. Great vibe with modern fixtures and high ceilings!

The lights in bathroom should be brighter & the mirror was too high for me to use. Didn’t know until arriving that parking was offsite and an extra expense. This may have been our fault for not inquiring. Found it hard to regulate the temperature in room.

The reception area and cafe were great and my daughter particularly enjoyed playing pool and relaxing inside when it was super hot out or raining. The staff were lovely. Very convenient location. Be sure to check out the binder at reception with restaurant suggestions etc.

An in-room safe, interior chain to lock door from inside, and individually controlled lights (when my daughter went to bed before I did, we either had to have all the lights on or all the lights off) would increase the comfort.

Staff is awesome!

I was hosted in a suite were the bathroom doors were not functional. The shower was a bit weird because of a glass window.

Well-situated and nicely-appointed hotel. Matches my prior Alt experiences elsewhere. Spacious and comfortable room.

Loading/arrival area is very small. No onsite parking (offsite locations can be pricey), and no voucher system to offset the additional expense. Tv says it's capable of streaming/casting from your device, but I was never able to get it to work.

Bed was really comfortable and the room was very clean

Central location next to main highlights like the parliament. Neat clean room with beautiful bathroom. Delicious Nespresso coffee.

Sound insulation of the hallway and the shades do not keep the light out.

Everything except the parking, bed was a dream, staff exceptional

Lack of any parking was the only real problem. Hard to find any available and then finding my way back to hotel was awful. It was circumstances I understand, but still, a problem.

The lobby and common area is excellent and very inviting, it smells nice, the elevators, hallways and rooms are clean, very clean. The bed and pillows are super comfortable.

The chromecast device I could not get to work. The same issue occurs at other Alt hotels. Other hotels that I have stayed at have Googlecast, which works splendidly. There are two of us in a room and 3 coffee pods, it was easy to get a 4th, but why not have an even number of pods? Lastly there is a grab bar behind the toilet that makes it so the toilet seat will not stay up om its own, so I have to hold it up while I pee. The grab bar should have been installed 1cm higher.

No parking

The Alt gets the important things right: bed is comfortable with good quality sheets, central air conditioning is quiet and effective. Hotel is quiet. Room has a noise maker, which is a bonus.

Would be nice to have a kettle in the room. Limited food options at breakfast.

The property was in a great location. We were lucky and got packing at the lot very close by. I love how modern looking it was. It was very clean. The beds were very comfy.

The hotel itself was clean and well-located, but the bathroom setup was a major disappointment. There was a window in the shower that opened directly into the room, and the bathroom door didn’t close properly — it didn’t latch or provide any real privacy. This design might work for a solo traveler, but for anyone else, especially those who value even a basic level of privacy, it’s a dealbreaker. It’s baffling that such an important detail was overlooked. Would not recommend for couples, friends, or families.

Great location, clean, wonderful staff!

This hotel in downtown Ottawa is close to everything, Parliament Bldgs, Byward Market, Rideau Canal. The room was quite large and very quiet, and the decor new and modern. The cafe downstairs serves the best Americanos.

The bed was far too soft.

Having more food options for breakfast would enhance the Alt experience a lot. There is basically few options although breakfast is advertised.

The room was exactly what we needed. It was clean and had a cute aesthetic. The location was very central. The lobby of the hotel was very well-designed and the staff were very nice.

I loved the hotel! “Le Germain” is such a solid brand, and it shows. I loved the “modern urban” feel, the spotless room, the comfy bed, the superb customer service, and the classy yet easy vibe! I’ll be back.

The only (minor) improvement - the room was too hot for my liking (21c), and the only way I could keep it at my comfortable 17c is through running the cool air, which was not ideal as it makes a bit of noise. Would have loved a proper thermostat.

Modern and efficient rooms - charming and helpful staff (especially aptly named Divine ;-)

The only drawback is the absence of on-site parking, though the parking building across the street met our needs.
