Parking is advertised but it’s actually only valet at $50/night. HVAC very noisy impeding sleep.

The location was very good for us, the room was spacious and appropriate, and the bed was very comfortable.

The renovations going on cannot be avoided, but it would be nice if completed on schedule.

Reading lights on headboard of one of the beds did not work. Electrical socket and usb socket on bed lamp were loose (prongs did not stay firmly in and therefore we got no charge). Wish there was more than one luggage stand

The bed is comphy. Room is clean. Pillows are soft and not too high. Shampoo and conditioner smell good.

I've deliberately asked for a quite room cuz I'm a light sleeper. I was given a connected room, means there is a door opening to another room. The guests at the connected room had 2 loud kids. I think connected rooms have less acoustic isolation because of the opening at the door. That's my only comment..

Friendly helpful staff. Great location.

Beautiful hotel right across from Confederation park. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the entire hotel was clean. Lobby was being renovated, and the renovation area was clean and the contractors working was quite friendly. All the staff, including those working the valet service were friendly and approachable.

The staff were very welcoming to our grandchildren who visited us in the hotel and used the swimming pool.

It would have been good to have a lower priced 'continental' option for breakfast.

Great location. Comfortable beds. Clean facilities in gym and pool area.

One of the elevators was a bit dodgy, wouldn’t go on first button press every time. Needed to wait, press buttons, hear funny buzz, press button again. Then it would go.

Unfortunately, there was some construction going on in the hotel while we were there - bad timing, but it happens.

Very friendly and helpful staff made our stay smooth and pleasant.

Unfortunately the lobby area is currently under renovation. We'll have to plan a return visit to see how it all turns out.

Heard noises from other room and hallway, bedding was okay. Pool was great for kids but found lots of hairs in and around it.

Nice location and proximity to Parliament building. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

I loved Christine in the breakfast house and the quiche was perfection.

I booked this hotel because I thought there was a Starbucks…I love the location.

Ate three times in the restaurant - excellent value and the best bacon I’ve ever had! Every single staff member we passed or engaged with was exceedingly friendly, polite and helpful.

Bathrooms a little small

Very friendly and helpful staff, an exceptional location.

The sauna water quality was suboptimal, and it is likely that the area surrounding the pool had not been sufficiently disinfected. It is advisable to wear appropriate footwear in all areas.

Nothing I didn’t like

The room was very beautiful, clean, spacious. Good wardrobe with special place for shoes (very handy in the winter). Bed was huge and very comfortable. There was a coffee maker, TV and safe in the room. Bathroom was good and had a great amount of amenities. Breakfast is not included, but you can buy a buffet or a la carte and get a discount if you skip house keeping. I tried buffet breakfast and it was great with lots of choices and the staff were very nice. There is also swimming pool in the hotel, which I did not use. Location is perfect, right in the city centre, you can walk anywhere. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, O-train station is about 5-10 minutes walk away.

Bathroom was very cold in the winter. I could hear noises from other rooms and the hallway.

Needs a refresher. Feels dated. The entry needs a double door to keep the concierge warm during the winter. The vending machines take away from the premium feeling one should get.

Both mornings there was loud noise in the alley below the room. Truck back ups beeping, bottles and other sounds crashing.

The extremely, welcoming front desk clerk (her name was something like Esmeralda!) I'd stay again just to chat with her again! Wonderful amenities too! Pillows were so comfortable as was the bed. Food in the restaurant was expensive however it was delicious and plentiful. My side salad was large and the dressing was tasty. I has the Haloumi sandwich- flavourful and filling. The churros were delicious.

The floors by the elevator were shiny marble and very slippery. There was a warning posted but I think the hotel should invest in mats for the winter. A paper menu would be great for the room.

Great location in a traditional building. Good food (expensive though) in the adjacent restaurant.

"Park view" room booked, but from the 2nd floor (which is actually the first one over ground, as it's counted here) it was very very limited, rather a street view. You can opt out the room service for a 5$ voucher, but it has been given only once after the first night - but cleaning has been skipped, of course.

The location is great. You can easily walk to the downtown area.

I stayed there only two nights and was very busy. I can’t say there is something I didn’t like.

Lord Elgin is a classic, gracious hotel superbly located in downtown Ottawa. Our room was very comfortable for two, with large desk, inviting chaise lounger, and of course large tv, mini-fridge. Roomy walk-in shower. It was easy to control the room temperature, which was particularly important as outdoor temperatures were minus 14. Worth mentioning also the tasteful decor - nothing wild or jarring, just muted carpet and serene pictures of tulips. We had dinner in the Forty One, as well as breakfast, and enjoyed both meals due to uncrowded room, attentive service, and menu with selections we liked at prices that weren't ridiculous.
