Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico

Great location. Historic vibe.

This hotel is right on the main plaza of Mexico City and could not be better for our tourism purposes. The room was on the other side of the plaza, so quiet (after 8 p.m. -- much music, mostly enjoyable, before that. View from room was nothing to write home about, but all we had to do was go up up floor to terrace for amazing view of plaza (and great meals and drinks). Room service was awesome, all the staff as well/

A little more light maybe, but actually everything was wonderful.

Beautiful hotel and staff was wonderful from beginning to end. The breakfast was fabulous.

The location on the Zocalo made it difficult for drivers to access. There are also a lot of steps to ascend in getting into the hotel from the street. This makes it difficult for older folks or people with mobility issues.

The facilities are stunning, the service is exceptional. Everything you expect from a 5 star hotel and more. The guest lounge was great. The breakfast buffet was not to be missed for the food and view

The location of the hotel is great, right in the historical center of Mexico City. The stuff are friendly and speaks fluent English. They upgraded the room for us and provided the welcome champagne and dessert. The room is large and clean. The experience of taking the historical elevator to reach our room was a highlight in our trip!

Saturday night concert on the plaza that went to 1am…. Not in your control but create a challenge for sleep

The hotel itself, the elegance about it, its history. Most of the staff was very helpful and accommodating.

Restaurant prices were overly expensive but the service was very good.

Absolutely gorgeous historic hotel with truly grand main hall worthy of being featured in any blockbuster. Very well trained and attentive staff. Unbeatable location right on the Zocalo with shopping, more than few good restaurants and a lot of beautiful architectural masterpieces within walking distance. Large enough room. Comfortable bed.

Despite good quality double glazed windows the noise from outside (shouting, music, singing, drumming - depending on day of the week, time of the day and type of protest event taking place on the Zocalo) will be with you most of the time. Taxi cannot get to the hotel as it is located on the pedestrian part of the street - be prepared to walk with your suitcases a block or two.

Remarkable historic Art Nouveau building just on the Zocalo. Endlessly interesting hub of the capital city! Terrace bar was fun, drinks were generous, and the food was good!

Understaffed, tho the front desk was staffed 24/7.

The fact that you could hear the shower or the flush from adjacent rooms and sometimes people were inconsiderate and were very noisy late at night. The bathrooms need an upgrade.

Fantastic historic building of the Art Nouveau era. Near many of the historic sites of CDMX, many museums, historic murals, excellent restaurants. The rooftop terrace at the hotel was a really good restaurant serving epic cocktails. The desk staff was also very helpful.

Because streets around the governmental seat on the Zocalo are often closed for security reasons, it is sometimes hard to order a taxi or get in from the airport with your luggage. We learned to work around this by ordering Ubers for the street behind the hotel.

This was our fourth stay at The Gran Hotel Ciudad and once again we had an exceptionally wonderful experience.

The staff are one hundred percent service oriented. The grand building inspires awe at every turn. And The Terraza restaurant overlooking the zocalo has exceptional food and service.

Sometimes it got loud in front of hotel due to protest. Last day a family stayed next door and wS so loud kids running around
