Artist Residence Hotel, London
Artist Residence London is a cozy, ten-room boutique hotel tucked away in a beautiful mid-19th-century townhouse in Pimlico. Opened in 2014 by owners Justin Salisbury and Charlotte Newey, the property represents the brand’s shift from seaside charm to an “understated and polished” city aesthetic, reflecting the sophisticated character of its historic neighbourhood.
The building itself dates back to 1852 and was originally designed by Thomas Cubitt, the master builder responsible for much of Pimlico and Belgravia. The owners spent a year carefully renovating the property, stripping back later additions to reveal original features like exposed brickwork and wooden floorboards. Today, these historical bones are paired with an eclectic mix of vintage finds and striking contemporary art, giving each of the ten rooms its own distinct personality.
You’ll find plenty of quirky, personal touches throughout, such as headboards made from reclaimed gates, tea-crate drawers, and antler chandeliers. The hotel also serves as a local neighbourhood hub, featuring a popular all-day dining spot and a basement cocktail bar that feels like a hidden gem.
Its location is a major draw for art lovers and explorers alike. You are within easy walking distance of the world-class Tate Britain gallery and the iconic landmarks of Westminster, including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. For those who enjoy a more local feel, the charming antique shops and weekend farmers’ markets of Pimlico Road are just around the corner.

“Designed to appeal to a contemporary clientele, the quirky Artist Residence is a ten-room hotel that, unsurprisingly, dedicates plenty of attention to artistic endeavors.”
