New York Times review:

“The local Kamp hotel group has a property to suit most design-minded travelers, from the flagship Hotel Kamp, with 179 luxurious rooms and suites beside the grand Esplanadi park, to the Hotel Fabian, with 58 cozy rooms and a more contemporary style.”

Featured in 36 Hours in Helsinki by The New York Times.

Fodors review:

“Chandeliers mix with Finnish contemporary artwork for an ambiance steeped in history (the hotel dates to 1887) but still up with the times, as you’d expect in Scandinavia. Luxury boutiques, diverse dining, Helsinki’s pretty harbor and the city’s many cultural attractions are all just out the door.”

Featured as Fodor’s Choice in Helsinki.

Frommers review:

“Hotel Kämp is housed in a beautiful 19th-century building, across from the Esplenade Park in the heart of Helsinki. It features spacious rooms that combine historic elegance with modern facilities.”

Lonely Planet review:

“A Helsinki emblem, this grand, stylish hotel is where the likes of Sibelius and Gallen-Kallela thrashed out their ideas. Its romantic marble lobby seduces you through to historic rooms furnished with antiques and then surprises in the marble bathrooms with trademark rubber ducks.”

All you need to know

Established in 1887, Hotel Kämp was once a premier destination for Europe’s aristocracy. Today, the hotel has been renovated and restored to its original form, hosting a diverse array of travelers every year. Nestled in the heart of the city, across from Esplanade Park, Hotel Kämp is near plenty of cultural attractions, eateries, and shopping. Within walking distance, you can find the city museum, the harbor, the central railway station, and the presidential palace, so you will never run out of things to do.

The hotel’s atmosphere and design are just as impressive as its location. As you walk in, the lobby will greet you with glistening stone materials, hardwoods, vintage furniture, and, best of all, a magnificent staircase leading to a glamorous ballroom. Rooms have a 19th-century atmosphere, showcasing reproduced antique furnishings, marble bathrooms, internet access, and satellite TVs. The most impressive suites have their own private sauna, but the complimentary spa facilities are just as fantastic.

While Hotel Kämp has 24-hour room service, you will want to visit Brasserie Kämp, the onsite restaurant. This eatery serves a variety of international cuisine showcased on the chef’s three-course tasting menu. This hotel also serves breakfast in the morning and drinks at the Upper Lounge and Kämp Bar in the evening. If you’re in the mood for a more traditional Helsinkian meal, you can walk to one of the many nearby restaurants serving Finnish staples, such as smoked reindeer and fried herring.
