GLO Hotel Art, Helsinki

Excellent and quirky hotel in a great location in the Design District of Helsinki. Based around a 0930s castle, the original building has been preserved with the modern rooms in a newer part of the hotel. Staff were great and the hotel strives for sustainability. Room was small but perfect for a few nights including the electric bed which can prop you up or raise your feet! Handy for the very centre of the city and a 5-7 minute tram ride from central station.

Smart double rooms need to have work tables. The current ones are too small. Every room in the hotel should have one HDMI Chord connected the TV permanently (anti-theft) but long enough to have the other end reach the table where laptops are kept.

This was my fourth time staying at GLO Hotel Art and honestly it’s the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at! The rooms are so comfortable, the staff are incredible and so helpful and the breakfast is insane with all the options, especially if you have allergies to gluten or lactose! All in all, this won’t be my last time staying there when I’m in Helsinki!

Everything apart from the cleanliness in the room was fine, lovely staff, gorgeous facilities and breakfast is definitely a must do, it is served quite early during the week but is totally worthy.

The room was dusty and you could tell some of the surfaces weren't wiped after the last guest left, the floor was also dirty.

I really enjoyed the stay. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast selection is good and things get filled up fairly quickly. Also, it's rare that you have a steamer in the room which I liked a lot. The price per what you get is very decent, the room size is fine too for how central you are and what you pay for it!

I do get that there needs to be constant ventilation but I found it uncomfortable that the air is directly blown into your face when you're in bed. The toilet brush should be replaced aw it's pretty much falling apart and doesn't do its job properly either. A kettle in the room would have been nice, other than that very great room.

The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location close to major attractions

Friendly and helpful staff much appreciated. Clean and attractive room with comfy bed, but no seating. Excellent breakfast. We really appreciated the bagged breakfast for very early ferry. Beautiful old main building with exceptional lobby.

Good location. Very good breakfast. Comfy bed. Was quite calm. Underground parking (25 eur/24 hours) was a plus for me. Close to ferry terminal. Nice restaurants nearby. But this is place is for a short stay only.

Super small rooms. Not cosy. Very dark entrance and reception - need to have a phone with some light:) Long check in. Better not to ask for an Invoice - will spend 40 min at the registration desk. Too many automated e-mails - made me crazy. Do not enter any comments once booking - you will have to repeat everything (company credits for the Invoice, for example). And a renovation is needed - "touches" of luggages and people are noticable everywhere. Not very friendly atmosphere - left with not with the best feeling, unfortunately.

TOP 10 hotel breakfast I have ever had. Super wide choice, lots of organic and healthy stuff. The bed is funky - you can lift upper or lower body up (especially good after a long walk)

The breakfast at the hotel was very good. And I dined at the Armenian House next door, lovely place.

The main hotel building is attractive and well-maintained in its national romantic style; the bedrooms such as mine modern and well-fitted, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. Breakfast was excellent, with a huge choice and good information labels about the food provided.

As always price is a factor a package deal for a longer stay would be appreciated but having said that the hotel is good value and by far the best hotel out of the five we stayed at on our travels in Finland, Estonia and Latvia

The service attitude was very disappointing! The first day.. I was going in with a big suitcase and lined up in the wrong place, but the staff didn’t bother to tell me where to line up. When I was checking the luggage, the staff also didn’t have good attitude (didn’t look at people in the eyes). Another night when I was asking for the direction to the airport, the staff told me to google. I already looked up.. I just wasn’t sure which way is the best given my mom is not good with walking. I have never encountered such bad attitudes at the hotel counter from different staff (three in total). It was a very unpleasant experience interacting with the staff. The only one with the good attitude was when I was checking out.

The breakfast was very good quality food, fresh berries, good bread, organic eggs. I was impressed by the choice and quality. Also front desk staff very helpful

Refrigerator in room would be convenient as I have medicine that needs to be cooled we left items at front desk staff, who put in their fridge, they were very obliging.

The breakfast is really amazing. The stuff is super nice, kind and helpful. The bed is very comfortable. The shower is great. I was impressed overall.

The only thing missing here is the mini fridge in the room. Maybe some other rooms had it, don't know. Just to keep some little food.

The only inconvenience we experienced was that the room was located on the ground floor and the windows opened at the hotel's parking lot. Hence, we had the blinds closed constantly so as to have some privacy. Maybe, for these rooms there could be a more transparent type of curtain (aside from the blinds) that lets the light come in but simultaneously offers some privacy.

The location was very central. The room was nice and clean, the shower super nice as well as the bed.

There was some construction going on, it was a bit loud in the morning.

Hotel bedroom was quite small and sparse, but the cool vibe, friendly staff, location, and breakfast all were excellent. I would definitely recommend the hotel. The masseuse who works there was great too!

Perfect hotel, very different shape, nice experience, hotel is created on the basis of the building other purpose, like church, theatre, or so... Lobby, breakfast room, corridors, stairs... Nice! Perfect breakfast, many different choices, I enjoyed it.

I was so disappointed in arriving to the whole hotel being covered in scaffolding. The building looked great in the brochure but awful in reality. But to be fair the hotel had warned us before hand - still a major job!

A fabulously characterful place to stay - castle meets hotel - within 10 mins walk of all the city centre attractions. The dining room upstairs is amazing

The pillows were not very comfortable hence did not have good sleep. Also one of the duvet cover has lipstick marks on it but I can’t be bothered to ask them to change, just did not use that duvet (there were two).

They offer a good breakfast. The location is good, with Helsinki centre within easy walking distance.

The room was rather small. Also, they kind of pushed for an upgrade when I checked in, which I found to be unnecessary.
