In general, our stay was great, but a few things kept it from being excellent. The windows don’t open at all, not even for ventilation, and there’s no way to adjust or turn off the air conditioning. We tried several times to set it to 21°C, but it kept reverting to 18°C. Also, room cleaning is only available on request, not a big deal, but when we did request it, the bathroom bin was still not emptied.

This is a treasure of a find. The property is absolutely gorgeous, beautifully decorated and they played the coolest background music. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. The food is fantastic. We were half board. It was such a good value. The rooms are beautiful with very comfortable beds and gorgeous toiletries.

The room was maybe a bit small - there was very little room around the bed, but it didn’t bother us

Very nice staff, accommodating and helpful. Had an issue with A/C in my room and they moved me to another room and even nicer. Breakfast is really great, so many options. Dinner included too was a surprise and good!

We chose this hotel primarily for its excellent value, especially considering that dinner was included in the rate. The location was another key factor, as all major attractions were within easy walking distance. It’s also conveniently located about a 15-minute walk from the main railway station. The hotel itself is housed in a charming, atmospheric building that adds character to the stay. As for the meals, the breakfast was quite satisfying, offering a variety of options such as scrambled eggs, yogurt, oat porridge, cheese, fresh vegetables, and watermelon and melon. The only coffee available at breakfast was black coffee from a machine, which may be typical in Nordic countries—so don’t expect cappuccino or latte during the morning service. Dinner includes one hot dish along with a salad bar. While the selection is sufficient to leave you feeling full, families traveling with children or teenagers may find the lack of variety a challenge if their preferences are more specific. A lovely touch is the afternoon “fika” served between 15:00 and 17:00, which includes a dessert and coffee or tea. Additionally, each room is equipped with a kettle and a selection of tea and coffee, which we found very convenient.

I was surprised to be asked to sign a paper check-in form upon arrival. While signing it wasn’t an issue, it did seem unnecessary—especially from a sustainability perspective, as digital alternatives are more environmentally friendly. Additionally, the reception staff should inform guests about the daily fika, or at the very least, there should be clear signage in the rooms. We were unaware of it on our first day and only noticed the information posted near the entrance to the breakfast room on our second morning.

We loved the hotel. The location is very convenient, the hotel lobby is gorgeous, and the facilities are superb. The fact that you get breakfast, fiika AND dinner included in your room price is incredible. Especially considering the city is quite expensive. The food was delicious, with plenty of choices, we loved every meal! We highly recommend booking the sauna too - it's great and not at all expensive.

Only a few small niggles for us - our room was VERY far from reception. To the point that we had to use two different lifts in two separate corridors to access it. Not too much of a problem, really - but if you have mobility issues or just don't want to rack up your steps, you might want to ask for a room closer to the main building. The second thing was that you couldn't open the windows in the room at all. We like to have fresh air in our room, and the aircon just doesn't cut it. There was also no mini fridge in the room - again, not a massive issue, but we do like to have the option to cool our own drinks in the room.

The hotel’s great architecture! The staff were very friendly and w/o any problems gave us a replacement room. The proximity to grocery store and a selection of different types of restaurants.

The design of the shower was no award winner! See-thru?! Sliding on an awful track that got stuck and necessitated us having to change rooms! Breakfast was just okay🙁 For older (or less-seasoned) travelers, your hotel should be ready to assist (with a pre-printed map or list) with public transportation alternatives to assist tourists in getting to the closest tram/bus, e.g. without having to all further than necessary.

We adored absolutely everything. The food variety and quality was stunning, absolutely fantastic. We say a huge thank you for making our family's stay unforgettable.

The beds and bedding are extremely comfortable. Food is good. We arrived at the hotel on my birthday and the guy from the reception brought champagne to our room to celebrate, unfortunately I don't know his name but he was on the night shift on 19.6. at 1am.

I always choose a hotel rather than private accommodation to have someone tidy my room every day. It's fine not to change the towels every day, but someone would have to come in to make beds, empty the wastebaskets and leave the coffee, not just upon on request. Everything under the guise of nature, but then the price is too high for the service.

Absolutely fantastic hotel. It is located in a very beautiful medieval building and the inside has a very classic environment. The hotel staff are extremely nice, helpful, and accomodating. The breakfast and dinner selections were very tasty and healthy, and the hotel was always accomodating to those with dietary restrictions, offering vegan and vegetarian options. The hotel gym is very modern and all the equipment is in surprisingly pristine condition, has everything you need for any kind of training you need to do - cardio, weight training, yoga, and meditation. The sauna was also amazing, although perhaps slightly pricey at 15 eur per person for an hour. Not a huge price, but paying for sauna in general in Finland was a little strange.

The only minor inconveniece was the wifi signal. It wasn’t that wifi didn’t work at all, but quite often, the connection was very poor. Wifi doesn’t work at all in the gym room and the connection dropped a few times in our room on the third floor. Breakfast and dinner area is also quite small, so at rush hours (ie when breakfast begins at 8 am on weekends) it might get quite crowded

Great location, easy to walk or take the tram to most attractions. Breakfast and the included dinner was good. Friendly staff, gave us a room when we arrived (very early check-in).

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much! It was clean and cozy. The location is very good. There are some stores and bars just arround the corner, and metro station and all the sightseeings are in walking distance. The staff is super nice and the buffet was excellent. It has everything you need. I would surely come again.

Beautiful hotel in romantic building felt very cosy and comfortable. Loved the breakfast buffet and the half board dinner. The kitchen did a terrific job of catering for dietary restrictions. Complimentary tea, coffee and cake was a great addition. Staff were warm and friendly.

It would be nice to have a sauna in the wellness room.

Public areas are really beautiful, this is a special building with many National Romantic style features. Good location and the rooms and bathrooms are nice too. Breakfast great, dinner less so but still convenient

My room heat wa stuck at above 24 C, I had to change rooms eventually and received an upgrade.

The tea station in the bedroom was a nice touch, as well as the dinner and breakfast. The room was very clean and quiet.

Dinner and breakfast was lovely and plentiful. Dining room was very comfortable and staff helpful. Breakfast until midday was lovely!

Pizza at dinner time was quite poor quality but salads and breads etc made the difference.

I liked the location - very near to the centrum. The room (deluxe) was quiet, roomy enough for three persons. The bed and linen were comfy. We enjoyed and appreciated the half-board. The dinner was good (vegetarian-friendly) and therefor no need to search for a place for dinner (comfortable when travelling with children). The breakfast was also really good, plenty of options, I think. Morning ginger-shot was a nice surprise, which I obviously took advantage of!

I don’t have any concernes. My daughter was though a bit bothered by the semi-transparent shower walls. But we managed and it was ok. Otherwise, the shower itself was an enjoyable experience for all of us!

Absolutely loved this hotel! It’s in a perfect central location, just a short walk to shops, cafés, and a supermarket. We booked a package with breakfast and dinner, and the food was fresh and delicious. Afternoon coffee, tea, and cake were a lovely bonus. Service was outstanding. We arrived late and missed dinner, but the hotel kindly prepared a salad and even upgraded our room to better fit our large luggage. Big thanks to Heidi at reception for her kindness! Would definitely stay here again if I return.

Pet friendly and suitable rooms for travelling with pets

Comfortable stay. Underfloor heating in the bathroom was nice. Room was a little small but still fine. Breakfast was nice, and the option to have fika and an evening meal makes it great if you're on a budget.

Breakfast was excellent, not very varied, but everything was high quality and tasty. Staff was attentive and helpful.

New interior of hotel is great. Breakfast is very good (one of the reasons why I chose this hotel) with wide veriety of foods. Staff has always been extremely nice and helpful. Comfy (a fit to soft for my taste) bed.

Not much not to like. Possibly some ware and tare visible on furniture(closets) in some rooms.

Beautiful hotel quite in the heart of the city. Excellent breakfast, and lovely service.

The room was quite far from the reseption in another building so it took a while every time to get there. Also the view was nothing particular.

This was my 3rd,stay at Glo Art and the standard is always excellent value for money. The breakfast is faultless, every nationality catered for. The reception staff are polite, friendly and helpful.

Excellent and quirky hotel in a great location in the Design District of Helsinki. Based around a 0930s castle, the original building has been preserved with the modern rooms in a newer part of the hotel. Staff were great and the hotel strives for sustainability. Room was small but perfect for a few nights including the electric bed which can prop you up or raise your feet! Handy for the very centre of the city and a 5-7 minute tram ride from central station.

Smart double rooms need to have work tables. The current ones are too small. Every room in the hotel should have one HDMI Chord connected the TV permanently (anti-theft) but long enough to have the other end reach the table where laptops are kept.

This was my fourth time staying at GLO Hotel Art and honestly it’s the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at! The rooms are so comfortable, the staff are incredible and so helpful and the breakfast is insane with all the options, especially if you have allergies to gluten or lactose! All in all, this won’t be my last time staying there when I’m in Helsinki!
