The Bonham Hotel, Edinburgh

Classic townhouse hotel with beautiful details and design.

Unfortunately, the water pipes created a shrill squeal whenever someone used the plumbing. Loud enough to wake us up and although we appreciate the age of the property, the fairly recent renovations should have fixed the problem, especially at the price.

Hotel was tastefully decorated with fine art pieces. Luxurious and very comfortable. Room and toilet was spacious. Location was quiet and located about 15mins walk to city. Sadly, room didn't come with breakfast so didn't get to try their spreas. Breakfast is charged at 26pounds per pax. Hotel has limited parking space behind but not crowded and cost 20pounds per day.

Room was cold but staff brought a portable heater which helped to warm the room up. Toilet was spacious but bath tub was small and shower screen only covered about 1/3 so toilet floors always wet after shower.

Absolutely lovely room, tea & coffee with fresh milk! Lovely bathroom as well. Very comfortable bed.

A little difficult to connect to the TV properly, but probably my own issue (and I didn't ask for help).

On site parking a bonus. Very helpful & friendly staff especially the porter. Nice location & building.

Breakfast took far too long & I had to leave without the hot food.

The location is perfect to walk around Edinburg. The design is great and the room very comfortable. The staff was kind and helpful.

Impeccable The service stellar ! Best hotel and staff . The meals were wonderful. I am considering hosting my retreat group here next May 2025. The location was within walking distance of St Mary's cathedral, which took my breath away as well as other sites. I stayed an extra night and received a phenomenal upgraded room with a beautiful view. Loved it all!

Nice period hotel

This is a special place to stay. It’s in the elegant crescent of the Georgian town houses. When we arrived, we were instantly wrapped in luxurious atmosphere. It may be a bit far from the central Edinburgh, but actually it is an easy walking distance. We enjoyed staying in this lavishly and tastefully furnished hotel. Both restaurant and bar were very good, too. We will definitely go back there next time we go to Edinburgh.

Very clean. Great staff. Nice drinks. Great breakfast! Great location! Overall really good experience. The staff provided us with late-checkout for free, because we needed some extra sleep.

The only bad thing that comes in mind is that there was no closet in the room where we could hang our clothes so we had to put everything on chairs.

Front desk staff were fabulous. Told us a lot about the history of the property.

Service in bar area, at times very slow, and did not match the friendliness of the front office. Could be more pro active with greeting guests and acknowledging their presence, even if busy, a recognition is always appreciated. Tables slow to be cleared while eating.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. Away from the busiest tourist areas but within walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff.

Breakfast was lovely and the room well situated. Choices were very varied. The breakfast itself was delicious. Staff were excellent and went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. Supplies in the room were more than we needed. Roomservice was very fast and the food was lovely and well priced. Wouldn't recommend anywhere else to stay in Edinburgh. Fantastic wee hotel.

Short walk from New Town, lovely authentic charm, good size room , easy parking on property

Initially being put in basement room and being told that the hotel was full!, staff lied or tried to deceive us at first though Booking.com suggested otherwise. Once moved we were very happy, if you want a view don’t accept basement rooms.

What a beautiful hotel! Everything, and I mean everything, was excellent. The breakfast was amazing each morning. The room was spacious and elegant. Everything was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. And the location was perfect - out of the busy areas, but just a 10-15 min walk to the castle. Can’t wait to come back.
