Ambiance, friendly staff, personalised service, very good breakfast, serene and quiet.

The hotel is in a historic area and close to the souks. I felt very safe as a solo traveller. The staff could'nt be friendlier and hospitable and helpful and informative. During the heat of the day, it was nice to return and lounge about in the communial areas. There's a lot of secluded areas with art displays. The restaurant served delicious food and I can recommend the Cucumber gazpacho.

There's no drop off zone close to the hotel. I would suggest that people reference Peet's coffee shop as the closest area for drop off. I also think a gold cart would make it easier for picking up guests with luggage. Their solution is having staff come and walk with the luggage from the closest point.

Extremely attentive staff, wonderful setting and lovely, comfy rooms. If you’re wanting to stay in Dubai, but get a sense of what it was once like before the glitz and glamour arrived, this is the hotel for you. The breakfasts are great, the food is reasonably priced outside of this and you’re walkable to some excellent restaurants nearby. I couldn’t recommend this place more.

I am dropping a mark because they need to update their arrival instructions. There is restoration work being done to the old town of Dubai and therefore it is no longer possible to arrive in the way they suggest. It should be simple enough to update the arrival point and create a map for guests to use to get there. I do find it surprising that this hasn’t been done. Easy fix that would ensure the check-in process is smooth.

The staff were very helpful and provided excellent service. The building has a quiet charm with traditional style courtyards and levels. Plenty of areas for relaxation and socialising with day beds and lounges throughout the communal areas. Simple but tasty breakfast.

The hardest beds in existence (and I like a firm mattress). Challenging access for those with mobility issues. The inconvenience of dragging luggage a considerable distance from the road. Located in the middle of a construction site, so ongoing noise and all but one entry points from neighbourhood blocked off.

Our fourth time in the hotel in the past several years, we really continue to enjoy this hotel. Our first room was a little tight under a wind tower, with no place really to hang our dress clothing, no window and a bit stuffy and we switched rooms, enjoying the second room much more (as we have enjoyed several other rooms in the hotel). We love the courtyards and the upper balcony for relaxing. The staff really accommodate our needs. The breakfast is superb, beautiful, tasty, generous, regional food. In the modern Dubai, a stay here is a step back in time. There are several nice places to eat nearby. It is a great walk to the waterfront and the nearby souks. We will likely stay again on our next visit.

The district is undergoing a makeover, making most of the streets closed. It's extremely quiet as nothing is going on. Only one way to access the hotel.

I loved the setting of this hotel - it was so well decorated and clean and the staff was honestly the best part. They were so kind and helpful. They made me breakfast even when I slept in too late. I would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast is good. I didn't get any chance to get the name of the reception during our stay but he really helps us a lot. Room is cute. I just hope tv has english channels or a smart tv. but overall ill will get back to experience the room upstairs.

This visit was the second time someone from our family has stayed at XVA Art Hotel. Once again, it was a wonderful visit. The communication with the hotel was outstanding and the experience was top notch. Due to nearby construction, the hotel clearly communicated that someone would be available to speak with the taxi driver to instruct to where to go for drop off and direct to the hotel in the historic district. I highly recommend this hotel. In addition to being located in the historic district, it is located near the cultural center, which provides tours and cultural experiences for tourists. We loved staying at XVA steeped in culture and hospitality. The rooms are lovely, the beds are comfortable and the food is delicious.

The breakfast is always great:- fruit, crepe, juice and tea. I always love sitting under the tree. Location is good for me as I like the old part of Dubai. It’s lovely. I’ll be glad when all the building work in the area has finished.

The first night the air con played up,& went off and on in fits and starts. Eventually, it did work. Mosquitoes are a pain! I’ve returned home with 10 bites. They were pretty determined!

What a lovely place to stay! Beautiful old character building with lots of places to hang out and chill and very close to the souqs and the creek. We would definately stay again next time we’re in Dubai.

Amazing art hotel, a real gem

The hotel is a breath of fresh air in Dubai. If you don’t want a glitzy modern high rise with an international operator, then definitely go for this place. The location is close to Al Seef and the breakfast, served by friendly staff in the gorgeous courtyard, was authentic and superb.

The hotel is about 20 years old and it shows. The furniture in the courtyard was a bit dirty and scruffy, and the lighting in the room was either too bright or off completely, with no bedside reading light. Small upgrades could make this place 10/10!

Have to watch your head getting around the property with low head romm at doorways. Rooms are a little small because of extra furnishings placed in the room

The staff was very nice. The location is authentic. The room design was splendid. This was our second time there.

Pillows are a bit hard. We could not order a taxi from the reception. The breakfast was minimal.

Quite small but pleasant rooms

I loved the traditional style of the hotel - quaint with a contemporary touch.

The cafe was closed due to a wedding taking place the next day.

This hotel was absolutely perfect for the entirety of our stay. The people there were very welcoming and made our stay so pleasant. The room was so neat and it was very different from the typical hotel which was exactly what we wanted. The area has easy access for getting around and exploring the historic areas nearby. It’s a very short walk to the creek and getting across the water to the souks as well. Overall, we couldn’t have found a better stay in Dubai.

The only one century old building in Dubai. Restored and updated with great taste and respect for the original. Uniquely beautiful courtyard, comfortable if small rooms. Also the only hotel in a car-free area in town.

This hotel is incredibly charming. It’s a truly special place in Dubai. I adored the art, the peaceful ambiance, the call to prayer, the balconies, the lovely shop filled with beautiful gifts, local textiles, and books. I even had some pants tailored there. It’s a sweet, sweet place, and I wouldn’t choose to stay anywhere else!!

I just love the quaintness of the place and how you can just sit back and get lost in your thoughts. And still have all the amenities one feels they need. :)

Authentic art hotel with a distinctive traditional Arabian courtyard feel. Quiet, peaceful with rooms centred on a relaxing, cool inner courtyard centred on a big tree. Spotlessly clean and in the heart of the heritage district of Bur Dubai. Nice breakfast too

The ambience of the courtyard and friendliness of the staff. Excellent breakfast. Room was very well designed. Quiet and peaceful location- a super haven in an otherwise busy area of old town Dubai. Would definitely return and recommend.

There are small gaps in the original wooden door of the room and some of the window shutters so privacy is not always guaranteed! Perhaps a curtain to draw across the entrance to the room from the inside would remedy this.

Loved every aspect of this hidden gem. Located in the old area of Dubai, it keeps the traditional characteristics of arab houses and it is so quirky! Next door to some amazing restaurants as well! Staff was very welcoming :)

The way the whole place is set up is really charming.

The pickup area for taxi is out of reach of WiFi and can be a source of stress for some.

The XVA is a very tranquil location away from high rise Dubai. Very peaceful. Good food & friendly helpful staff.

Our room was a bit noisy as it was next to the kitchen and adjacent to the main dining room. Last time we stayed upstairs which we preferred.

Beautiful location and an in-house art gallery was such a bonus. It was so quiet at night I thought no one else was staying there but I was wrong when I saw so many at breakfast. A truly relaxing stay

I wish I could have stayed longer. Initially the cost seemed quite high but i think that was the nature of staying in Dubai

We loved everything about this hotel. We have never stayed at a more amazing, comfortable and welcoming place. The people made it feel like home and we spent a lot of time taking in the ambiance and the delicious food! We had the exquisite moon room and it really spoke to us. The art work and the decor took our breath away. We just couldn’t praise this place enough! Do yourself a favour and make this part of your journey, you won’t regret it!
