The building dates back to 1906, and while the interior boasts a sleek New Nordic design, it proudly keeps its slightly tattered, historic facade complete with the original, retro red neon “HOTEL” sign.
The hotel’s coolest quirk is its dedication to the community. When the Brochner family completely overhauled the interior, they rejected generic catalogs and instead scoured the neighborhood. Local weavers, cabinet makers, and second-hand shops provided the decor—including French industrial pendant lights from a vintage shop down the street and a vinyl turntable donated by a 50-year-old local radio shop where guests can spin records.
Even wilder is their approach to payment: Ibsens was the first hotel in the world to accept “Artmoney.” This alternative global currency lets registered artists pay for their room using original 18x12cm artworks instead of cash. Because of this, the lobby walls are lined with eclectic, shifting gallery pieces that guests can actually purchase straight off the wall.
Location-wise, you are perfectly placed for exploring. The hotel sits just three minutes from the Nørreport Metro and Train Station, making airport runs a breeze. Right around the corner is the Torvehallerne food market, a culinary paradise of local delicacies. For sightseers, the historic Round Tower (Rundetaarn), the lush Rosenborg Castle gardens, and the gorgeous Copenhagen Lakes are all within an easy 10-minute stroll.

Very good
Very central, very good spot to get anywhere! Amazing location with lots of bars, restaurants and shops around.

My room was nice and clean. Everything I need including a kettle, some tea and coffee, sugar, was perfect after my long travel. The stuff is friendly. So, it was positive experience for me.

The beds were so comfy! They were fabulous. Breakfast was probably one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had in a hotel. So fresh, delicious taste, lovely staff in the restaurant and setting. The staff in the hotel were lovely too. Best part about the hotel was cozy hour (or as my partner called it cozy time!) it brought everyone together and was a great vibe after a busy day to sit before the evening started.
Nothing really. The bathroom was a little small but you utilised the space well. My partner did keep tripping over the step all the time in to the bathroom but he is pretty clumsy!

The location was near perfect for the metro and city. Staff were very friendly. Hotel was great value. Room was comfortable
It is a budget hotel (3 star), so judge it on that basis. However, it shares the facilities of the five star hotel attached and the three restaurants attached.

- Everything was very clean and the room was cleaned daily
- Very central location, walked everywhere

- One free drink for guests in the afternoon
- Everything went smoothly with our reservation
- The price was pretty decent for Copenhagen but the room was smaller than I expected
- At first I had some doubts for the shower because it's literally above the toilet seat but it was better than I expected, it didn't "flood" at all and it was drying very quickly
- I didn't like the permanent carpet on the floor, seemed a bit too outdated for me
- The double bed was small

Clean, great start and location was spot on.
Staff amazing from start to finish. Really welcoming and informative. Great location, few minute walk from Norreport station and a not too far from the all the attractions. Lovely local feel to the area aswell.
Room was spot on, clean and had everything we needed from a kettle, hair dryer and ironing board.
Secure luggage storage was available for us to store our cases upon checking out.

I would definitely recommend Ibsens hotel, I had a lovely stay there.
The location was excellent, the neighbourhood was also very nice. My travel was work related, so I chose my hotel to be walking distance from the venue, although it was also easy to reach the city center by foot. The metro station is also just a few minutes walk away.
The staff was also very kind and helpful. I liked the small bar by the bar and the option to grab a drink or a croissant during the day.
Bonus point for the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!

Great location to go around, great staff, comfortable rooms.
Friendly and helpful staff, quite close to everything in City Center by foot, close to bus, train and metro station), easy to come and go from airport, comfortable room a d great breakfast.
Not much around compare to other streets and most places close early. But just in a few minutes you can get anywhere around.

A winter dream
People were kind and friendly, the environment was cozy and warm. The whole place was clean, felt comfortable as if it’s a home! The place is so close to the metro and walkable to wonderful streets of copenhagen as well, I will definetely stay here again!
