If you are looking for a place to crash in Brussels that skips the generic corporate aesthetic, JAM Hotel in Saint-Gilles is a fantastic shout. Housed in a stark 1970s brutalist structure, the building spent its previous life as the St Luc School of Design before being completely transformed. It perfectly mirrors the raw, creative energy of the surrounding neighborhood.
The master behind the interior transformation is the eccentric Belgian designer and artist Lionel Jadot. Rather than covering up the building’s industrial past, Jadot completely stripped the interior down to its bare concrete shell. He opted to celebrate the architecture by mixing exposed brick, poured concrete, and rough-cut pine wood with vintage, upcycled furniture.
What makes JAM truly unique is how it blurs the line between a high-end design hotel and a community hangout. It features a giant 18-bed “Giga-Room” dormitory alongside standard private rooms, meaning you will find a massive variety of travelers mingling here. Plus, the hotel even lets guests borrow skateboards or Brompton folding bikes to explore the hilly streets of Brussels.
The crown jewel of the property sits right at the top. JAM features a fantastic rooftop bar and a long, narrow plunge pool—which happens to be the only rooftop pool in the entire Belgian capital. It has become a massive watering hole where locals and travelers hang out to catch the sunset over the Brussels skyline.
Expert reviews
“Though not in the most picturesque part of Brussels, JAM gets good grades for its stylish raw design, alluring public spaces, cheerful Italian staff, cool nearby hangouts, abundant on-demand extras and a very reasonable price tag.”

Ok for a night, but bring your earplugs.
My bed was comfortable and access was easy. Access to the radio on TV was a bonus. Curtains were tick and kept the winter cold out.
I wag given a room under rooftop bar and I could hear the noise and music. I adressed it at reception immediatly once I checked the room and was told I should have pretended I have a baby to have been allocated a better room in a quiet part of the building, and that the place is fully booked in January. This was a very confusing and not pleasant interaction at all, and I would not be coming back in the future because of how it made me feel, unwelcome as a guest.
There were no usb sockets in the room, and no chargers I could borrow from the reception.
The room light was a little bit too dim to be comfortable.
Coffee at breakfast was not nice at all.

Loved the family room! Staff not very nice nor welcoming
Loved the location and the family room! Very nice bathroom and the facilities in the room were great.
Non of the staff were very nice or welcoming to be honest. (Maybe because we stayed with children?). And please make sure you bring your credit card even if you prepaid, because they almost did not want to check us in because we did not bring our physical credit card. Both elevators were broken for the 5th floor not very convenient with suitcases and small children… breakfast was fine, enough choice, enough food.

It’s ok, but could’ve been either better or cheaper
The pool at the roof top is great in November!
Wifi is an absolute shit in the room, constantly dropping connection.

Nice and pleasant stay at the JAM 🎶
Great bed, nice complimentary tea and coffee. Very nice interior. Good idea on TV Set up and guide. Great wifi.
А bit noisy. We couldn't try the restaurant and bar was closed earlier than mentioned on the tv guide.

Decent stay, but room facilities could be improved
The room was cosy, and the staff very friendly. There was also coffee and tea in the room
The mirror on the door in the bathroom was broken, even if it's a small thing, it would be nice to fix it for guests to feel more comfortable

Great location. Comfortable rooms. Friendly staff.
Comfortable beds. Good shower. Friendly staff.
Wi-fi. Not great but better once we moved rooms, which the hotel were happy to facilitate. Much appreciated as we had a few work Zoom calls. So thank you for your understanding.

Comfortable hotel, great location, aesthetic not for everyone
A comfortable stay in a very good location near the lively Châtelain. Bed was comfortable, hotel kept very clean. Did not try the Japanese bath experience but like the fact someone is bringing that to Brussels!
The hotel is in what feels like a restored industrial building - good thing it is being reused, but it shows in the thin walls and the exposed concrete everywhere. Not a great aesthetic in my personal opinion. Staff seemed absent from the front desk a lit too.

A comfortable stay with a few small areas for improvement that could make it even better.
I really appreciated the tea corner with the water kettle and coffee machine. It was very convenient and a thoughtful touch that made our stay more comfortable. Thank you for providing this!
We had a pleasant stay at JAM Brussels, but I’d like to share a few small suggestions that could make the experience even better.
1. The hotel sign was a little hard to spot during the day because of the unusual font style. It’s not a big issue, but for first-time visitors it might help to make the name board more visible. Thankfully, Google Maps takes you right there—just keep an eye out for the hidden “JAM” sign.
2. The main challenge we faced was with the bathrooms. When showering, water easily spread outside the shower area, and with a group of six, it quickly felt like a mini pool. This is something that could be fixed very easily by adding a shower curtain or a small divider, which would make the bathrooms much more comfortable for families. Towels and other amenities were all fine.
3. A small but useful improvement would be adding more power outlets near each bed, as it was a bit tricky for everyone to charge their phones at the same time.
Overall, it’s a nice place with good facilities, and with just a few simple adjustments, the stay could be even more enjoyable for guests.

Perfect stay, friendly staff!
The hotel is located in a quiet area, yet just 20 minutes' walk from both Brussels Midi train station and the city center. The staff is young and super friendly, always happy to help with any questions or doubts you might have.
The quadruple room was a bit small for four people, but it was okay and not a big deal.

Perfect break and great value for money!
This hotel was absolutely perfect for a long weekend away with my Friend. All modes of transport were within walking distance, and it was also very close to the city Centre. We had some good weather, which made the pool and terrace area even more enjoyable. The staff were so friendly and very helpful! Especially Fred. We had everything we could have needed, and the rooms were so spacious. would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

No wifi, no elevator
The staff were friendly. They didn't go over and above but no complaints.
The wifi was absolutely garbage. I had to sit in the hall to get any sort of signal.
One elevator wasn't working and the other was extremely slow. The hotel was busy so we ended up taking the stairs most of the time. This is fine for my family because we are relatively fit, but some people may have access problems because of this.

Day 1 of 6 day road trip
The bed was extremely comfortable.
There were 2 lifts, one was out of order. The other one had a mind of its own.
Location was a little further out of town centre and took 45 mins to walk. All up hill on the way back.

Convenient for a short family trip.
Modern facilities, very clean and good location.
Worst internet connection that I have ever had in a hotel. The “solutions”‘didn’t work at all. Also, there is only one small lift/elevator available for 4 people, so be prepared to use the stairs every time.

Great place to stay that bridges the gap between hostel and hotel
The room was compact with bunk beds for kids, shower was good. Cleaners came everyday, which was a pleasant surprise, most days they changed the towels which was not needed.
The bar upstairs had a lovely view, really nice for sunset, and it is possible to visit the outside part without buying a drink. We also enjoyed dinner in the Asian fusion restaurant downstairs.
A fridge in the room would have been helpful. Changing the towels each day seemed unnecessary and unsustainable - there was no way to opt out of this.
