The property holds a rich slice of local history; during the Golden Twenties, its rooms were a favorite retreat for theater actors, while the rear building housed an automotive radiator workshop until the 1950s. Though it survived World War II, the building fell into deep neglect during the era of the Berlin Wall, remaining forgotten for nearly 50 years until a meticulous restoration rescued it from decay.
The property’s unique look was crafted by French-German interior designer Sandra Pauquet, alongside architect Kim Wang and the firm Fuchshuber & Partner. Together, they designed the 34 apartments and two penthouses to mirror the timeless charm of classic Berlin flats. High stucco ceilings and exposed, unplastered walls seamlessly blend with design classics from Knoll and Eiermann, paired with quirky vintage treasures sourced directly from local flea markets.
What truly sets this spot apart is its clever commitment to guest privacy. Instead of traditional room numbers, each apartment is named after a fictional Berlin character, such as “Lea Grün” or “Herr Günther,” with the pseudonym engraved right on the key. Complete with individual doorbells and mailboxes, the property allows travelers to live like true locals in total anonymity, masterfully blending the effortless comfort of a private home with the luxury of a 24-hour concierge.

Great location and vibe.
Loved the location, close to restaurants, bars and parks. Having an amazing bakery across the road was wonderful for breakfast. Room was clean and tidy with some lovely touches.
The room was quiet light so not easy to sleep in. The view outside was not very attractive but you did feel absorbed into a groovy little community.

This is our absolute favorite apartment hotel in Berlin! Perfectly located right in the heart of Mitte – lively with restaurants and bars all around, yet the apartment itself feels calm and private. Everything is within easy walking distance.
The rooms/apartments are stunning, beautifully designed with an artistic vibe. The bathtub is pure bliss – such a treat after a long day in the city.
This was our third stay here, and definitely not the last! Highly recommend.

Very nice hotel in hipster neighborhood but not exactly quiet
-Excellent location if you prefer hipster neighborhoods. Lots of bars and restaurants, very lively neighborhood.
- Public transportation is very close to the hotel
- Loved the apartment - it's very spacious, well equipped kitchen, everything worked well, we had everything we needed - coffee, tea, dishes, dishwasher etc.
- The rooms overlooking the street must be very loud. There are several huge restaurants and bar terraces and a tram stop right by your windows. It was very loud during the day and till late at night. And of course everyone is smoking, so it may be an issue for non-smokers because you won't be able to open the windows
- We specifically asked for a quiet room facing the courtyard. It was mostly quiet except for when the bar in the same building closed around 2 am and threw out glass bottles using the trash cans in the courtyard every day. It was very loud. I complained at the reception. They were pretty receptive and upset because apparently it's a recurrent issue with the bar and they had already talked to them about it with what it looks like no result. There may be some quiet rooms in the back of the building, but I am not sure at this point.

Couldn’t ask for a better location.
Gorki has an amazing location. So many cafes, bars and restaurants right outside the door, and they were all excellent. Public transportation was just a few steps away. I would stay again and again at this wonderful hotel.
As much as this is being picky, my wife and I did not like the pillows on the bed.

Home away from home
We had a fantastic stay! The appartment is very spacious and quiet, gives really a home away from home! The people at Gorki are super friendly and even offer to stock up your fridge before you arrive and my girlfriend was very happy with the Dyson Airbrush ;)

Everything at your fingertips
It is such a beautiful room. In fact the whole building from the gorgeous door to the entrance chandelier and lovely welcoming court yard was devine. Our room was gorgeous and i loved soaking in the lovely clawfoot bath and the rain shower was perfection after a long day of exploring. The staff were exceptional and our desk operator took us to our room, showed us how everything worked and then asked us what was important for us to see and then sent us a whole list of things to do. Also love the location! Close to things and a really funky/vibrant area with beautiful restaurants and a lovely bakery literally at your doorstep.
I think my only issue was that while our bedroom had blackout blinds there was no privacy ones where you could still enjoy the view during the day without others seeing inside your room.
