They teamed up with local architecture students to turn an old, run-down 1950s property (the former Olympic Palace Hotel) into a living piece of modern art.
Instead of throwing away the old building’s remains, they upcycled them. They literally took the old wooden furniture, shattered doors, and random fixtures, and spliced them into the walls and columns. The result is this wild, textured patchwork that feels incredibly alive and historic at the same time.
Every floor plays with a different theme rooted in Greek culture—think traditional “evil eye” charms against bad luck, vintage Athens postcards, and folklore shadow puppets. It’s like sleeping inside a quirky, high-end museum.
To top it off, their rooftop lounge gives you staggering, panoramic views of the Acropolis. It perfectly nails that mix of gritty, creative energy and ancient history that makes Athens so special right now.

Nice enough but the cost of this hotel isn't reflected in the quality making it feel like bad value.
Excellent location for the main tourist areas and restaurants, a short walk from Syntagma Metro.
The beds are very comfortable.
Staff helpful and pleasant.
Small gym in basement which has all the basic equipment
Weird room layout and areas of style over substance (what is going on with the light switches??)
Location means it is a bit noisy but probably as you'd expect in a city.
Food and drinks at the hotel are far too expensive.

Excellent location and will stay there again next time.
Centrally located, and we pretty much could walk everywhere. Great restaurants around and staff are helpful when it comes to reservations. Staff are friendly, and cocktail at rooftop restaurant was good (when we went it was still too cold to sit outside).
Can’t say I did not like the hotel. We had a very good stay. This is more tips for peeps who want to book this hotel. If you are a light sleeper try to get a room on higher floor. It is a busy street, you will hear the traffic outside but not annoyingly noisy. Just that you will hear it. We got an upgrade tonight room, think the most basic ones are on small side. So book higher grade room if you want more space.

The perfect property to lay your head while you explore Athens!
It’s quirkiness. The proximity to all that Athens offers. Gregory, the doorman, was incredibly helpful and attentive. The view from the rooftop bar is incredible!

Everything was great!
The service was excellent. The staff were exceptional. The food was excellent. Breakfast was superb. The rooftop was wonderful. Great view of the Acropolis. Minutes walk to the shops and great restaurants. The hotel was designed by 2 Brazilian architects. Very classy.

Great Hotel for a Quick trip to Athens.
The New Hotel is in the City Center neighborhood of Athens. We stayed her because of it’s close proximity to the Acropolis.
The hotel is modern. The room was small, but we had everything we needed.
The staff was very nice. The hotel had a bar on the 7th floor, but we didn’t go. We were there for 3 nights and that part of Athens is filled with restaurants.
It was a very nice hotel. No complaints.
