“At this 79-room hip boutique hotel in the centrally located neighborhood of Syntagma, it’s all about the design. After all, the hotel is owned by Dakis Joannou, one of the most famous art collectors in Greece.”
“Brazilian designers, the Campana designers, melded their signature scraps-to-art style with Greek-folk touches and old Athens photos, creating a space that’s full of fun eye candy.”
“Since its much-anticipated opening in 2011, the New Hotel has easily maintained the architectural cutting-edge style that made news headlines at the time. Excellent central location? Check. Good service? Check. Rooftop bar with Acropolis views? Check. Hefty price tag? Check.”

All you need to know
The New Hotel is a haven for lovers of art, architecture and enriched culture. It was reconstructed from the dull Olympic Palace to this vibrant mix of color and art by Greek Cypriot art collector, Dakis Joannou. It is a dash of new flavor to an old but golden recipe.
Located in a historic Athenian neighborhood near Syntagma Square, it is centered in a prime area for commercial activity and sightseeing. New Hotel stands out for its reanimated modernist structure in a sea of classicism. The top-floor terrace provides a great view of Athens.
The interior decor is a mix of lively pastels and a mismatch of culture collisions, brought to life by Brazilians, Humberto and Fernando Campana. Each room is designed to showcase different aspects of Greek culture. However, it follows the exterior theme of modernism and regeneration. They all contain a private bathroom, flat-screen TV and pay-per-view channels.
The smoking-free hotel is a few minutes’ distance from main attractions like the Jewish Museum of Greece, Roman Ruins of Plaka, the Acropolis and its new museum, and the cafe and boutique shopping district of Kolonaki. This hotel is the ideal choice to leisure and business travelers alike.
