Ace Hotel, Sydney

It was very quirky and it was handy to have a restaurant downstairs

I just didn’t like how the room numbers were written in wood. I don’t have the best eyesight and the numbers were very confusing.

Loved the beds, pillows and the bar area. Very clean and first hotel I have stayed in for years that didn’t have a smoke alarm above the bed either the brightest light in the history of the world. Loam cafe was sensational. Vibey and stylish decor and mood.

Pinot Noir at the bar was not great!

Funky design details but not at the expense of quality and comfort- everything was thoughtful and well made eg Good lighting, comfortable spaces, good use of small areas, enough storage room etc

Ace was a great base for exploring central Sydney & Surrey Hills. The room was small but as we expected - it is what we booked! The bar was great and staff super friendly. Loved all the extra touches in the room to keep the room ‘on theme’. Overall a great stay. Room service a great touch.

A slightly extended walk to main tourist points but definitely manageable with sensible shoes. Room was very small but this was expected. Very noisy throughout the night and day with people entering/exiting their rooms with heavy doors. Cleaners were very noisy early in the morning bashing the doors and walls waking us every morning, but they did a great job.

The really loud music in the foyer / bar in the early evening. We had to go out for a pre-dinner drink with friends so that we could speak without shouting.

Easy check-in and we got to check in early. The staff are so lovely and you can enjoy food and drinks without leaving. The decor is gorgeous.

The rooms are quite small but we did love that it had a built in couch

Loam on the lower floor had delicious food, great coffee. If you want smaller meals, at less cost, go through to their cafe off the lower restaurant.

There was no bath in the room, may have them in the larger rooms? Wouldn't mean I would not stay there because of this. Staff recommended a spa close by with sauna/ soak etc :)

The location and the staff service are great, the room is spacious, the design is millennial cool if you are into that.

1. The bathroom and toilet doors cannot be compeletly closed or concealed, there's big open part on the top so literally anyone in the room can hear or smell what you doing there. I stayed there with my husband so it was not a big problem, but if you travel with friends, they might be able to hear you dropping the kids in the pool lol... I just cannot understand this design. 2. The basin sink is tiny, and the tap is right on the middle top, it's not that there's no space, on the contrary - the counter is rather big. So if you tend to wash your face in the sink, the water will go everywhere. Yet another design I cannot comprehend... 3. The AC in our room was a quite loud, probably something's broken inside. We had to switch to another room in the middle of the night.

The hotel decor is handsome and calm. The room was very comfortable and the guitar was a bonus. Breakfast was fabulous, as was the staff. The location is about a 10 minute walk to various forms of public transportation.

Food was outstanding - breakfasts and bar snacks. Staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. Loved the professional casual vibe of the entire experience.

Vibe was great, loved our terrace! Loved that they were pouring Michters whisky.

When we checked into our room, there was a little rubbish and a long black hair between our fresh white towels.

Perfect location, great access to the rooftop restaurant and lower ground bar / breakfast facilities. Delicious food.

I loved the vibe and everyone was really helpful and friendly, the food was really delicious, sometimes a little confusing as there were several different menus for different times of day and different areas but the food and the choices were exceptional. the DJ on the weekend really set a great scene to come back and have a few drinks before retiring.

nothing, my sister and I were having a catch up weekend as I flew in from overseas and this was the perfect place for that. I would only suggest trying to have a loading zone installed out front so UBUR drivers dont get booked.

Close to Surry Hills, Haymarket and Darling Harbour, this hotel is replete with beautiful rooms, a gorgeous bar and friendly, helpful staff.

Hotel is in a good location / better for proximity to the city than Surrey hills though. We ate at the restaurant downstairs and it was fantastic. Bar has good menu and vibe although bar staff could be a bit more chirpy!

Housekeeping was poor / towels and tea etc was not replenished properly, hotel is quite basic given the cost - no coffee machine, no turn down service, breakfast is not included and rooms pretty average in terms of quality of furnishing & linen.

Clean, stylish rooms with big windows. Good location. However I wouldn’t give 5 stars to this hotel but solid 4. The service provided isn’t 5 stars. No one will bring your luggage to your room or downstairs I guess you have to ask about it which is not like it should be done.

Cleaning was a bit annoying as they were coming all the time super late after 3pm and reception was sending me mails you check on me when I pour don’t disturb sign on my door. Very odd.

Great location, only 20 mins from Syd airport by uber. Hotel lobby and rooms have beautiful interiors. Bed was firm and comfortable. Rooms were clean and beautifully designed. Layout was a little weird as you open the door to the bathroom/sink area but works well. Also appreciate amount of storage/shelves in the room. Toiletries were excellent as well, beautiful scents.

Not a fan of the down pillows, only found out they had other options when we were checking out. Also not a fan of Loam (the cafe downstairs), staff were not attentive and food was a bit average. Good Chemistry is great for a coffee, but if you're after a meal definitely head to one of the many cafes down the road.

The Location is fantastic the hotel is very well appointed and very comfortable - a very nice breakfast in the restaurant and the staff are very helpful

The only small issue is the rooms (bedroom area is a little on the small side - everything else is spot on.

Loved the Ace! Great location whether you want to hit the tourist attractions and the CBD, or explore Surry Hills, Chinatown, and Darling Harbour. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We requested a few extra pillows, and the team brought even more by the following night unprompted after they ran out of the memory foam pillows the previous evening.

Shower leaked water across rest of bathroom. $21 glass of wine in big glass barely 1cm deep was a bit rich. Let there asap so missed out on 3 dinners and drinks due to pricing greed.

Beautiful design aesthetic, rooms were good, location was good. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was lovely, but theres also lots of amazing restaurants nearby.

Its a little on the pricier side for what you're getting but still a great hotel.

The location was fantastic, easy to walk to the city centre, the gallery, gardens, and public transport was nearby. Loved the hotel design, quiet rooms, the bar and restaurant were great.

Bathroom lighting is terrible, they also forgot to clean the room, or replace soiled towels etc, and I wish they had a coffee pod machine!
