The vibe is so nice! :)

Central location, accommodating staff, comfy bed with privacy curtain, large lockers for luggage, large bath, large common area with restaurant and bar at the rooftop. Recommended!!

Stayed for one night and was given a top bunk when there were bottom bunks available

The people at the front desk are so nice and speak good English. The room is ok. It was small but everyone who was staying there were respectful. I did have a good sleep.

Fantastic location a stone's throw from the plaza! Hostel beds were sturdy and there were large private luggage lockers for each person. Bathrooms were cleaned daily!

The Hat Tea is a very joyful and helpful team. It was my first experience with "Hostellerie", I will definitely do it again in "The Hat"

Can we have the breakfast until 11 am please?? No easy to wake up earlier after a night party in Madrid😉😅

I think breakfast is so nice and location is awesome.

The common areas were very nice, there was a fridge, microwave and cutlery available to use. The atmosphere was very nice and the rooms were quiet . Location was great, one block from Plaza Mayor. Carrefour and Día meters away. They have hair dryers to lend, which is good in winter. The lower beds have curtains for privacy. I liked it very much. Breakfast is available for pay. There is a terrace that is very nice.

There was a mix up with the beds and I ended up sleeping in the upper bed. Mattress was not comfortable like the other reviews said. Bathroom is inside and there are no other bathrooms on the floor to use if it’s busy.

Wonderful position, really nice and clean building and appropriate services. They organize something (pub crawl and sangria making) every night.

I think they can work on the breakfast to make them vary more.

The staff and the people around was very kind and friendly! Nice environment for solo traveler !

The lift is not working and I wish they have more available bathrooms in different floors in the building!

Perfect location, room, price.

I absolutely loved everything about this hostel. From the breakfast, to the rooms, to the staff! Everything was amazing! The location is great as well it’s close to several metro stations and is close to all major attractions. There is a grocery store right across the street if you’re on a budget and don’t want to eat out - plus the kitchen has everything you need except an oven (it only has one of those counter top ovens).

Because of the way the bunk beds in the room is built (I stayed in room 8), the front part of the bed is covered by a curtain but the back is only half covered by the wooden frame of the bed. So, if you’re on the bottom bunk and someone is behind your bed (going to their locker or something) they will be able to see you and you, them.

Great location close to everything in the center of Madrid by foot or metro, chill relaxed vibe from the personnel and quite clean and spacious regarding the hostel type of accommodation

It could have been a bit warmer at night, degrees were low now in December winter, even though there was a A/C in the room I felt that it would be more efficient if there were also some radiators to heat up

Ground too cold, very cold to walk on in the room. Room is also very narrow.

The shower was really an experience. I loved the water pressure. The hairdryer in the restroom was also something that not all hostels have, so extra point for The Hat Madrid.

As I had to leave everyday too early in the morning, I was not so comfortable of brushing my teeth in the room. It would be fantastic to have a sink outside the bedroom, in the same area you have showers and toilet seats.

The location was great - near all the main attractions (right off of Calle de Atocha, near Plaza Mayor and Puerta de Sol) without being super noisy or crowded. The bar downstairs and on the rooftop were great hangout spots. I appreciated the little kitchen as well in case you wanted to store things in the fridge or make tea during the day. Staff were really helpful and accommodating, lots of good events on - I didn't get to go on any of the pub crawls they did, but they definitely had a good amount of activities on. Beds were pretty comfortable, bathrooms were pretty clean and the shower in particular was great. Would happily come back!

Nothing to be majorly disappointed in. The rooms are a little lacking in decor (though that's not super important when staying in a hostel,) and I do wish there was some additional storage space for bathroom items/toiletries - but nothing that was a deal breaker.

Suggest asking for the bottom bunk if you're staying in a multi bed room, they have a privacy/blackout curtain which the top bunks don't have.

It was my first time of being in a hostal. I really liked its cleaness. There were people from everywhere and the hostal had provided suitable public spaces (entrance hall, basement, fifth floor bar) where people can meet, socialize and get to know each other. The hostal ran day and night tours of Madrid.

The Hat is as advertised - modern, trendy, happening. It is in an excellent central location in Madrid for tourists/travelers. Common spaces and shared kitchen were very clean and beautiful. The shared room (6-bed all one gender) that I was in was also clean but very basic. The private bathroom inside the room was clean but with some minor wear and tear. There are a lot of amenities and it is well thought out. There is a shared fridge/eating space. There are some dishes/shared cutlery but if you wanted to really cook you may need to buy/bring additional items. Everyone who worked there was helpful and friendly. I chose not to include breakfast with my reservation but did buy theirs one of the days of my stay. It was nice to have a wide variety of things and to not have to go anywhere to eat, as I wasn't feeling well that morning. There are probably better breakfasts for 7 euro in Madrid, but you would have to search for them ;)

The bathroom could be easily enhanced by a few more hooks! And just a small stool/side table/place to put items while you're trying to shower, etc. The room itself had some hooks but I think could have had more. The bottom bunks had curtains to hide sleepers from others' lights. The top bunks did not. All bunks had their own light, outlet, and a tiny shelf which was super useful!

The small number in the room (6) was nice. The bed was very comfortable and with privacy curtain. I also liked the rooftop bar. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

A chair or bench outside of the room would have been nice because I didn’t want to bother the other people putting on my shoes.

Quite expensive for being an hostel but it was national holiday so makes sense

Room was clean and tidy. Staffs are nice and helpful. They will hold different activities such as Sangria workshop and pub crawl, which let you to make friend more easily. Rooftop is nice.

Toilet and bathroom are in the same room in the dorm, so you need to go to another toilet outside the dorm if there is someone using the bathroom, but it’s dosent really matter, bathroom are clean also!

-The staff was very friendly and very helpful all the time. -The hostel is situated right at the side of the central Plaza Mayor, and is very well connected to the whole city. -Nice lobby -The staff is on their duty 24/7

-Beds are hard to climb on, you have to be quiet athletic to do that and not to fall down and break your bones. -The cleanliness of the shared bathroom in rooms is good, but the separate shared bathrooms on the floor are not super clean, this could improve

It was clean, quiet, and the beds were comfortable. A bonus of a ceiling fan! The hosts were so gracious and patient. It took a while to find it in the dark, but so worth it. The surrounding area is beautiful…much like the Park Avenue of NYC. And the brothers who run it are from an area just outside of Sarria. Very nice and helpful.

Only being able to stay for 1 night. I wish there were more nights available! I now understand how fortunate I was to get in for the night.

Top floor is a terrace but also restaurant so unless you're eating/drinking there you can't use it or chill out there.

This was definitely the best hostel I’ve stayed in. They had the right amount of social activities and ways to meet people in common spaces. Facilities were great and the location was super handy too! Staff were really friendly and helpful too.

Great shower, bed was fine, easy check in. Polite staff. And I got a coffee in the early morning which I appreciated. I loved it!
