The Yard Hostel, Bangkok

The Yard is amazing. Wish I could have stayed longer. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The beds were comfortable and had a curtain and some sockets which was nice to have. It was so nice to sit out in the yard and read a bit and relax.

It is a bit further away from everything but bus stops and train stops aren’t too far

Really nice people, good breakfast and chill common areas, good location close to the metro. The bar and small Japanese snacks at the front are a must have!

They should clean the showers and toilets at least twice a day, it was always a bit dirty, and the bed curtains don’t cover the whole bed so it misses a bit of privacy.

Excellent property within a very charming neighbourhood. Spent a night in a deluxe private room that's equipped with a comfortable bed, storage space and the most charming atmospherics...dappled sunlight, a quiet balcony overlooking green cover and morning birdsong! The shared showers and restrooms are very hygienic with adequate water pressure.I really appreciate the eco-positive messaging all around the property, without being preachy and it looked like all the residents happily adhered to it. I'd stay longer the next time in Bangkok because of its value for money, location and eclectic guest community.

Perhaps a bedside lamp and a few more clothes pegs in the room.

Best hostel we’ve stayed in. Really memorable and thoughtfully designed, with comfortable communal spaces. It’s in a lovely area with plenty of tasty restaurants and bars including in the hostel grounds (though they are a bit pricey - however the hostel has a board with other recommended, cheaper options, which is super helpful and which were always a hit). Breakfast is light but delicious. Our room had amazing double height windows and a mezzanine with the bed area on it, and good provisions e.g. shower gel, shampoo. Easy access to the SkyTrain and other transport. Staff were really helpful and available 24/7 for our early check in and equally early check out (around 3am both times!) including being really helpful pre arrival. Couldn’t recommend more.

Nothing, other than some hooks to store clothes in the bedroom - there’s plenty of wall space and others have commented on the lack of storage so this feels like it could be an easy fix.

This hostel has the loveliest vibe- it’s very social without a party. You can easily join people at breakfast or on the bean bags. Staff are so helpful and yours are great. Downsides- the dorms don’t look like they do in the photos. They are a bit cramped but it was quiet and respectful.

Such lovely stuff! Breakfast every morning was lovely, very good location, we got free dinner on one of the nights too which was lovely! Such a cosy bed, cosiest I’ve stayed in, just so cosy and in a quieter part of Bangkok if you are feeling overwhelmed :)

The vibe is lovely, very social and friendly, such a lovely place to chat and meet new people. The common garden area was gorgeous. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Ari (the neighbourhood) is a little bit far out but such a fab atmosphere and lovely restaurants cafes and bars, way less touristy.

The dorms are really small and there’s very little space to store your stuff, the curtains could be wider as well to give more privacy. I have seen more comfortable dorms for the price but I think you pay for the overall vibe of the yard.

It is a little oasis in Bangkok! We really liked the Ari neighborhood,it has great restaurants, shops and just a nice vibe. The atmosphere in the hotel is super nice, there is free cold water and breakfast is tasty too. I would definitely go back!

Provided breakfast was great- delicious fresh fruit. Common area was lovely and social to hang out in- met some great people here. Short walk to train station and located in a cute neighbourhood with delicious eateries- best way to start my time in Bangkok. Loved eating my way round Ari. Yoga on offer on some mornings. Own powerpoint and light for the beds plus curtains.

Bathrooms were adequately clean. Mattress and pillow were extremely firm. Small locker provided only big enough for handbag/small backpack (not carryon). I would stay again however a few things to be mindful of if they are of importance to you..

we were staying in one of the private rooms with its own bathroom for the third time while travelling Thailand in the last years and we just love The Yard. The vibe, staff, location in the heart of Ari are just one of a kind. Highly recommend!!!

Everything here is amazing! I stayed in a private room and not a dorm, so can’t comment on the dorms. But the room was perfect and this whole place is such a vibe. The area ‘Ari’ is one of the chillest in Bangkok. Would come back to the yard in a heartbeat

Not much to dislike. It’s a very young crowd. Very backpacker vibes. Like most hostels though. And the iced coffee from the cafe was awful!! So don’t order one 🤦🏻‍♀️lol

loved my stay here the neigbourhood is great and the social atmosphere was great. the yoga i took part in was great and very well organised. the best hostel breakfast i’ve had. rooms are good and the social area is great. loved it ! staff were incredible

I call this my second home. Social atmosphere was invented there. Everytime i go there it is the same, i find new deep friends. Everyone i know who was there, says the same. Best hostel in south east asia - I dont know how they do it, it's a kind of magic!

I dont like the fact that i miss the yard when i leave there.

Great location in a nice neighbourhood, just a short walk from the overground. Staff were great, and overall vibe is very friendly.

There was not enough storage space in the rooms, just a single locker which can only fit a standard 45l backpack. Means you can’t really unpack and every time you need something you need to remove entire backpack from the locker and fish for things. Could use some small shelving. Also maybe the shower facilities could use an upgrade, but given the price I think this is ok.

Really good place to stay and connect with people, the big yard helps a lot. The breakfast is good as a plate of three to four fruits, slices of bread and a iogurte, the coffee tasty really good. Beds are pretty comfortable and cozy, there are locks inside de room. The neighborhood is great and there's everything you need nearby. BTS trains is also close.

We loved the included breakfast the most. This hostel is eco friendly (drinking water on tap, packaging free breakfast etc) and we loved that, as we hadn't seen many options like this in Thailand. The service was amazing, and the outdoor area was welcoming, comfortable, and a total vibe. The location is quiet inner sity suburbia, I felt like we were staying in a very local area.

The rooms were a little small, and we couldn't unpack our bags at all. The aircon wasn't that cold, however it did still work. The location is still 10 mins walk from the station, but we did enjoy our walk immensely.

The location is so perfect. Also the staff is all friendly. Doing yoga under the trees made us pretty relax more than thai massage.

Love the garden and the common area. The dorms are a bit small but I like this hostel a lot and will retrun (as alwasys).

Everything was perfect. It couldn't have been better. The vibe here is unmatchable

- lovely space/concept/design, situated nice neighborhood - very helpful, friendly and easy going staff - lots of thoughtful amenities (water refill station, many sockets around, recommendation for the neighborhood, clothes washing/drying etc).

- I stayed in the mixed dorm which has a capacity for six people. It seems to me while the whole hostel is designed successfully from a guests view/needs, this mixed dorm isnt fully on brand: the space is too tight for six people (some guests stored their bags in the common space, I repacked my bag outside of the room); the beds have a light and socket, yet not anything adjascent to it like a shelve to put your phone or book onto. This way, at least from the upper beds, things lying on the bed are bound to fall down onto the lower beds in the night. The curtain would cover only half of my bed, meaning the other half was exposed---the curtain is there to give sense of privacy...so doesnt do the job fully. Ive had a peak in the dorm for 4 which is femaly only I believe - seems much more sensible! Honestly Id fully recommend the Yard to everyone, yet I wouldnt stay in the mixed dorm again.

Great hostel with a nice yard to hang out, read, have breakfast, dinner or some drinks. The rooms come with stable, comfy beds and big lockers. Excellent breakfast with coffee, bread, and lots of fruits. They also let you come back in the evening to have a shower before you leave for the airport at night. The best hostel during my whole trip across Thailand. Highly recommended!

The trees and vegetation attracted me at first as I need to be somewhere where there is nature with me. I was concerned that I would struggle with the concrete and traffic in Bangkok so this hostel felt like an oasis for me. When I arrived, I was even more impressed with a cafe, a burger grill cafe and small bars in the evening. The hostel was clean, had lockers in the rooms, wifi, plugs for your phone by the bed and had a lovely relaxed feel about it.

This hostel is amazing! All the staff are super friendly and helpful - they give many tips about places to visit in Bangkok and also useful information about travelling in Bangkok! The hostel has a really great and relaxed vibe! The complimentary breakfast was delicious- fresh fruit and bread with coffee/tea. The location of the hostel is also good, it’s away from the busy centre but you still have great access to busses/trains as well as loads of local shops and places to eat! Would 100% recommend this hostel.

The Yard Hostel, situated in the famous Ari neighborhood, is a fantastic place to stay when in Bangkok. Affordable and sustainable, this hostel has amazing shared spaces, including a garden with outdoor tables, mats and hammocks serving coffee, smoothies and food. In the evenings, everyone was hanging out in the garden, playing board games, chatting, listening to music... Super fun! We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom, and I have to say that the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms and the bathrooms far exceeded my expectations. We had to leave early in the morning, expecting to miss breakfast, but the lovely hosts packed up homemade yogurt and fruit bowls for us to go. Such thoughtfulness and care! I cannot recommend this place enough.

This is an amazing place with the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a Hostel. The staff is gorgeous, very helpful. Very calm atmosphere in the middle of the city. Very lovely people around to hang out with as well.

I stayed in three different types of rooms while I was there. Two different private rooms and the female dormitory. First of all the staff there is amazing and helps at every turn. The entire place is welcoming and comfortable. A fantastic environment to meet other travelers of all kinds. The Ari train station is just around the corner and extremely convenient for getting two other parts of Bangkok. Both private rooms were exactly as advertised..

The women's dorms are some of the smallest I've stayed in, In terms of space. It would be hard for more than two people to pack their bags at one time in the room itself.

Really chill vibe and sociable atmosphere.

It's in Ari which is a cool place to walk around when in Bangkok. We had a room with a bathroom for the two of us. And it's possibly the most comfortable bed I've had in 6 weeks anywhere in Thailand. The staff are lovely. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. And on the whole there is no reason not to stop at the yard if you like hostel style accommodation.

The photos of our room are let's just say favourable. And the same goes for the outside photos. The place does look a little tired compared to what you see online. Everything just needs a good old sweep and tidy and a lick of paint here and there. But otherwise I have nothing bad to say about any of it. And let's be honest anyone who actually complains for the price isn't being fair. It's a hostel. It's hostel life which means it's community, and can be noisy at times.

The staff were very accomodating and location is very good :)
