Hotel Waldorf Astoria, Chicago

The staff was exceptional (efficient, courteous, professional, but quite warm) in their attention to every need: from the people who greeted our cab as we arrived (past midnight) and the wonderful ones who were always ready to assist with cabs and with umbrellas, to the lovely front desk folks, to the room service, to the staff at The Brasserie (David was our waiter and was a joy).The food was delicious in both the late dining and in the restaurant. The facilities were superb. I have been going to Chicago for many, many years and I have stayed in tons of hotels and in my book at this time, Waldorf Astoria is the best bar none! Oh and I just love the beautiful scent that greets guests as we enter the lobby! I enjoyed every second of my stay and will DEFINITELY come back.

If you love to be pampered and treated like royalty, then staying at The Waldorf is just the ticket. Beautiful rooms, decor and the service personnel are the most gracious in Illinois. Don’t stay anywhere else. Splurge on this hotel and have a continuous grin on your vacation.

I didn’t like how booking.com didn’t give the Waldorf our reservation. There was a lot of miscommunication between booking.com and the Waldorf. Luckily the Waldorf honored what we had reserved (even though they didn’t receive it).

A number of things were wrong with our room from a missing bathrobe to a faulty bathtub plug and several other things. All were addressed quickly by very nice people. However, for the price of the room, all should have been addressed before we arrived. The toilet seat was replaced upon our complaint — we tried to fix it ourselves but found that the screws were stripped which means it had been slipping for a while. The bathtub and sink were heavily scratched with deep black marks which made them look dirty. This room was a corner one with a fireplace and a balcony — an extra luxury and all should have been perfect. Of the two nights, turn down service was only performed once — inconsistent attention to details that count at that price point.

We come to Chicago every 3 months. We like the location. The staff is always very helpful.

The room was not at the Waldorf standard. The bed was lumpy, the night stand drawer would not stay closed, and we repeatedly kept banging into to it during the night. The safe was inoperable. I did answer a text complaining about the bed, and they exited TJ changed it at 9:45 PM when my wife was already asleep.

It is not 5 star, no coffee machine, light buttons didnt work properly, i asked for a fresh orange juice which is normal in any star hotel and this is supposed to be 5 star. They had my name wrong on the room & room tv. So couldn't even connect wifi, mini is not even at a 3 star. Once we arrived it was so hard to communicate with the reception lady bcz of the vacuum cleaner loud sound.. even during the day. This is a 3 star.

I really enjoyed the breakfast the pancakes were very good and everything was made to my liking.

Kevin is really great i stayed at the Astoria New Year’s Eve for my 28th birthday had a mishap when checking in he defly worked it out for me and I really appreciate it had outstanding customer service and made me feel very welcoming to come back ! Really appreciate him ! If you have any issue talk to Kevin he will hear you and make the best of the situation

Location, overall looks

Terrible service. 1 hour to take the bags down. They removed my items from my room and finally after I made noise they gave it back after more than a day. The house car is never available.

Uncomfortable balcony patio furniture. Broken elevator. A disturbance by a poorly behaved guest in the breakfast area was ignored by the manager on duty, despite requests for him/her to ameliorate the situation

My issue was never with Waldorf. My issue is with booking.com I was falsely advertised. The room I booked was a suit. The room I received was not a suit, did not have the living room area.. only one room for the bed, which was smaller than pictured, and the bathroom was so much smaller than what I booked. BY MY SUPRISE there was a balcony. But all in all, the room was not what I booked. Also, the name of the room was shown under "Grand Deluxe King Room with Balcony". After speaking with the manager at the time at the Waldorf, he informed they do not have a room under the name "Grand Deluxe King Room with Balcony" for that does not even follow under the hotels terminology. Since this is a 3rd party booking site, booking.com is responsible for this booking as well as false advertising. The hotel had no responsibility. Being nice, Waldorf discounted the room, however it took 4 reps, 4 calls, 3 hours and 20 minutes for booking.com to even fix their issue! HORRID! I traveled 5 hours for DISAPPONTMENT!

The place was clean and staff helped me load the car.

The staff couldn't find my reservation delayed our check in. They reached out to me then refused to have anything to do with me. The faucet in the bathtub was broken. The ceiling in the room was broken and sagging and made us fearful to be under it. The food was incredibly overpriced for what we got, and the staff at the front desk seemed largely dismissive.

lack of concern for leaving my room unlocked/opened while I was out shopping. Someone came into my room after it was cleaned by housekeeping and used the security lock to not have my door close and lock.

Courteous and prompt service

Some areas had poor upkeep or was damaged. Room service brought us a complimentary champagne for our anniversary and ended up charging us $289 for the bottle anyways.

This hotel tried to charge me $577 for them assuming I was smoking in a non smoking room at there hotel land then charged it to my credit card as damage to property😡 I had to dispute this with my credit card company and eventually won the dispute and got my $577 back. The staff is racist too and very judgmental they tired 😪 to take advantage of a young black female and it didn’t work I hate this hotel they treated me like I committed a crime sercurity was taking pictures of ashes in the toilet a cigarette butt that was put in the trash 🗑 I will never 👎 go back.
