Motel One Staatsoper, Vienna

I requested to change the first room bec when I arrived it was a hot day, 21c, the room was facing west consequently very hot. The AC wasn’t working. They asked me to stay the night then pack my bag again to go to reception n wait to see what room MIGHT become available. It was such a noisy room during the night as was facing the main Street. That room had a single bed only, no closet, no chair, no table… I went down the next day with packed suitcase at 8am as I had a tour booked for 9am. There was a different receptionist. To my surprise I found out there was a room available all along. He gave me a different room, almost the same size as the first one, facing courtyard which was more suitable n cooler, had a small table n chair, still no closet. There were hooks on the wall with hangers.

Difficulty finding because the hotel had changed its name from Motel One to Cloud One. No telephone or coffee in room.

Stylish and modern, newly renovated. Very quiet room, very good bed.

The room was very small and there was not even a chair! There was no wardrobe- just a small place to hang clothes and just a few hangers. The rest of the clothes had to stay in the suitcase and there was no actual room to keep it open.

The room didn’t have a fridge or tea/coffee making facilities. The first hotel on our tour that didn’t. There wasn’t a full complement of toiletries. Staff were just passable.

We had issues with people walking into our room on our first morning as we weren’t checked in correctly by staff. We had 2 rooms and 1 had issues with the electrical but they fixed the issue rather quickly.

The location is excellent—central enough to explore on foot, while still allowing us to return for a short rest before heading out again. It is also well connected to public transport. The room has a modern, clean design, and the staff are helpful. It is basically just a few meters from the Vienna State Opera and other attractions. As there were construction works, only a small breakfast was available, but it was well priced. It includes croissants, cakes, brioche, jams, fruit yoghurt, and a variety of coffees for €8.50. Considering typical prices in Vienna, it represents good value. Also, they have a bar in the ground floor, they had reopen it in the last few days of our stay, where you can sit and have coffee, capuccinos or drinks.

This is not entirely the hotel’s fault, and seems more related to Booking. I chose this hotel because of the breakfast offer, so it was a bit disappointing to learn on arrival that, due to the works, breakfast was not available. A discount was applied, which was appreciated, and the smaller breakfast option we had instead was good value. Still, clearer communication in advance—especially from Booking.com—would have been helpful. One small suggestion for improvement would be adding in-room facilities such as a kettle, cups, tea, and coffee, as these are commonly available in many hotels and are appreciated by travellers. There is also no fridge, which is not a major issue but may be useful for some guests to know. On one night, the room felt a little cold, and having an extra blanket available would have been nice.

Fantastic location for all the places I wanted to go to in the Innere Stadt. Although the hotel is currently being renovated/ upgraded this didn't cause much trouble, no exceptional noise etc so a great nights sleep was possible. The reception staff were super friendly and very helpful. Overall I highly recommend this place and would definitely book again.

This is a wonderful hotel with very friendly staff. It is very central and the hotel itself is comfortable and inviting. There was no problem with my work colleague and myself sitting in the open area and working all day long on our computers.

It would have been helpful if I knew beforehand that the kitchen was out of order due to some reconstruction work and there was a limited bar available for the same reason. I would certainly stay there again because it was a wonderful place from which to visit Vienna even as the reconstruction works were taken place.

We didn’t know they were under construction. Only two floors were available and no breakfast. They offered a solution with croissants & yogurt in the bar but I would have liked to know this at the time of the booking. The employees were not very welcoming, except one or two really helpful people.

The room was good and the location is nice. The reception staff were very helpful, and everything else was perfect.

There was no drinking water, tea, or coffee provided in the rooms, and the elevators were under maintenance.

Not having a phone in the room was definitely a problem. Finding the way back to the hotel from the subway was difficult.

If you can put a phone to call the reception ( no communication at all ) If you can put a kettle for hot water or coffee maker will be perfect even if it with extra charge but give the option

Breakfast... only available as buffet style is very expensive (especially if you only want a continental breakfast to start the day, we ate breakfast at a local cafe around the corner for a 1/3rd of the cost) and there is no dinner option at the hotel (you have to eat out) which is a hassle if you arrive late

Suprised there was no tea and coffee in the room. Stayed in a hotel in UK a couple of weeks ago for 1/3 the cost and there was tea, coffee, water and biscuits.

A beautiful hotel in a very good location, next to the opera house in the city center.

There is no electric kettle in the room for preparing hot drinks. In the evening, it was not possible to obtain hot water for making hot beverages. There is no refrigerator in the room. It was not possible to get two separate beds; only one double bed was provided.

Close walk to the Markets and beautiful architecture.

Lack of amenities such as a safe and mini fridge which a four star hotel should have. The room was very warm at night and there was no way to regulate the temperature except opening the window which would let in noise from the busy road.

Beds and pillows comfortable. Staff very friends, bar in lounge has good prices.

The staff’s attentiveness, the location, the cleanliness, and the Wi-Fi were excellent. I’m not sure if there is any other hotel in the city that is located at the intersection of three metro lines, this close to a metro station, and just a few minutes from major tourist attractions..

The only downside I could mention was the small size of the room.

Tiny room which could work, but didn’t. We’ve stayed at numerous Motel One hotels but this one was not a comfortable place to stay for 2 people for anything more than overnight. The only furniture in the room was a bed, small desk and ottoman. No place for luggage. We had 2 large suitcases and carryons and in order to open, we had to place one suitcase on the small desk and the other on the ottoman. Forget opening the carryons. No phone, so if you need to talk to reception, you have to go downstairs. No safe, which is a problem for those people who have to travel with a passport. Unlike other Motel Ones, there was only one bar to hang coats and clothes. Since it ran along the wall, the hangers had to hang sideways limiting what you could hang. Ridiculous! Tiny night tables that were like the smallest you could get from IKEA.

hotel is very nice and in a perfect location, you can reach by foot most of the important places and it's also well connected with transports. very friendly staff. rooms are good size and clean. breakfast was good.

Modern classic & sleek hotel within Inner Stadt. A hop & skip away from Vienna State Opera, the Albertina, Burggarten, Cafe Mozart, St. Charles Church, & many attractions. Karlsplatz U bahn station is steps away. Many colorful districts are within 15-30 minutes walking distance. Room was spacious with a window view of inner courtyard. Bed was comfy & moderate lighting was perfect. Cozy interiors. Location is unbeatable. Big variety of nearby eateries & bars. Would love to stay here again in the future.

There were 2 staff members at reception that were slightly rude. Also the hotel room numbers & placement are unusual & a bit confusing to locate.
