Magdas Hotel, Vienna

Hotel was pretty much exactly as advertised and expected. Room was clean, beds were comfy, breakfast was slightly quirky in a good way with some unsusual options, but otherwise of good quality and kept us all happy. Staff were super, nice bar with fair prices. Pleasantly surprised to discover that it was just within walking distance of most of the main things in the city center, although we principally used public transport.

None of the apparent downsides didn't bother us. There were limited eating options within 5-minute walking distance. It was a 12- or so minute walk from public transport. It looks rather like a spruced up old-folks' home, because that's what it is and what it says in the description.

Atmospheric and cosy hotel. Localization is great.

There were some stains on the blanket and one of the towels.

I liked the location. The staff was very friendly. The idea of creating such a hotel with used furniture is original but not something I would prefer.

Room has no air-condition. Although the furniture was old, because the concept of the hotel is made of used and preowned furniture, I would prefer some modern preferences such as air-conditioning and TV, and maybe some orange juice at the breakfast table for the price of stay.

The light doesn't work in bathroom. No air conditioning, it was really hot.

It's not an ordinary hotel, it is so cool! The room was bigger than expected and view was nice. The best about the hotel are: super friendly staf and being so close to Prater.

Beautiful no frill design, very calming, generous breakfast, not pretentious yet delivers.

Didn't know there would be just one soap for body and hair, would have enjoyed a bathrobe.

The location is really great and the breakfast was absolute delicious. The staff was very nice and helpful all the time.

The bed was very uncomfortable, everything else was okay.

I have a room with two windows which can not open, and it was so hot in the room. It is close to the city center. It would be better if it provides a refrigerator inside the room.

the view is good. rooms are beautiful and the layout is super as well. there is a big park across and river on the other side. food was great, service is exceptional.

wish they had some more dinner/ evening snack options like fries or so. but there are plenty of food options close by so its not the most inconvenient thing.

Everything was pristine. Good location and very quiet despite the proximity to Prater.

I couldn't find the iron if there was any. Breakfast was not worth the money.

The room was lovely, clean and comfortable - as was the hotel. Great choice for breakfast.

Everything was very fine - the view from the balcony to the giant wheel and over trees was stunning, the space of the room was comfi and the atmosphere of the hotel is very charming. Not to mention the superbe location: close to Prater and lots of greens, close to water at Danube and Old Danube, close to the city and many nice restaurants. It could not have been better. And I have been living in Vienna for more then 20 years...I know the town very well. Big shout out to Magdas Hotel - we truly like it!

Staff were friendly and professional throughout. You pay for the location which is just across the park from the Fun Fair . Location.Location.Location. Meals looked good but we ate at the park and on a Danube trip the next day. Were able to leave our luggage at the desk for the day whilst we took in the sights and a river trip. The desk were able to book a uber to the airport very quickly when requested.

The furniture is old and tired. It was like stepping back in time. The bed was harder than I would have liked and there is no air-conditioning however an electric stand alone fan is available. Supposedly smoking only permitted on the balcony however the room stank of stale smoke.

Magdas hotel is an interesting concept: social commitment, sustainability... The rooms are big and the location is comfortable: just a 20 min walk to the city centre, but away from the fuss, close to the park and the river. The garden is lovely and the staff is friendly.

The room, although clean and big, was not practical: there were no plugs in the bathroom, nor close to the bedside tables, no drawers to put our clothes in, no space to hang the towels in the bathroom. There is no AC, just a fan. Overall, it felt more like staying in a hostel than in a hotel, which was OK for us as we spent most of the time walking around the city, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a relaxing holiday.

The location is very good, the terraces overlook the Prater, and the view is wonderful. The hotel staff is very welcoming and polite. The room has some small lovely details, like a water pitcher, a relatively big table, large terrace. Breakfast can be served in the lovely garden. The breakfast buffet has a decent variety both for meat-eaters and vegetarians.

The room was a bit tired, there are smears on the walls, and wall skirting is dusty. The bathroom only has one dim lightbulb and no shower cabin, so even a short shower leads to a flooded bathroom floor. The doors are not soundproof.

The people are exceedingly nice, the location is great and it's easy to get in and out of the city (a 10-min walk to Praterstern station, from where the S7 train takes you directly to the airport). The rooms are simple, but spotless. I enjoyed the retro style very much as well. Great coffee and cakes downstairs, too. I'll be back.

It is rare to see so many truly happy people at a hotel (both employees and customers). The building is old and the rooms are probably best described as basic. But the style of the hotel and the way old furniture is used everywhere is charming. Staff is extremely friendly. Breakfast is really good. Fresh mix of breads every morning, salads, yoghurts and even very tasteful Syrian specialties.

All available bikes were unfortunately rented out during my stay.

breakfast: nothing to drink except water, tea and coffee, no juice, plates with remaining dirt on them (seems also the hotel dishwasher is re/up-cycled), no choice of warm meal - only scrambled eggs. Funny smell of bed sheets or pillow - didn't figure out which one exactly, took it from another bed, was better.
