Hotel Locanda Vivaldi, Venice

The staff was so kind. They made everything perfect. Set us up for boat accommodations and to a tour of Murano Island. Wonderful hotel right on grand canal. Perfect location to St Marks Square. A five minute walk

We could not figure out the AC

We liked the full breakfast that is charged with additional 15 EUR per person. We also liked the location.

The biggest problem was extremely cold and damp room at night with very bed indoor air quality caused by items scientifically proven to be the major sources of microorganism and dirt (old carpets on the whole floor and open wool blankets with no fixed protection cover (this was the first time that we had this kind of “open” blankets in any hotel). The low room temperature and extremely bed indoor air quality caused that two (6 and 13 years old) of our three kids get sick from the same respiratory disease with coughing, wheezing, sore throat, and finally the fever in the older child, all being serious health conditions in children. In addition, after we checked out, we got accused for breaking the table glass in the room and although we kept claiming that the glass was already broken when we entered the room but we missed to report it due to higher priority health issues with coldness/bed air in the room, the staff insisted on claiming that the glass was intact on the day before our check out (totally not the truth) and on charging us for the damage.

The staff, most especially the receptionist Alessio. He was a first-class professional with top-class customer service. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his guidance was always helpful.

Most of the staff were friendly and responsive, but the man who assisted us at check-in was not very professional in dealing with guests.

Location was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. The staff, specially Alessio and Biordi at front desk helped us a lot with our travel plans and with a problem we had with Easy Jet.

The only thing I would have changed is the bathtub. It was so high and difficult for me to get in and out.

The property is lovingly maintained & I it has lots of charm & the character. The entire staff is friendly, helpful, and they make you feel like their main job is to ensure all your needs are met

The only thing I can think of is that the pillows were a bit too soft for me

Everything. Our view was right on the canal and it gave us a very different impression of Venice. The energy of the city really becomes a parent in the morning, looking out our windows on the canal.

The view from the hotel was beautiful.

When we arrived at the hotel, they directed us to a different room instead of the high-priced room we paid for. When we objected, they gave us the correct room. There's no need for these kinds of petty and meaningless tricks. Even though the problem was solved, it was upsetting.

Our room was incredible! We could listen to the sound of the water. Decor was beautiful too. And the staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

it was not stated at the hotel info ( booking.com) that after 17.00 there is extra charge on arrival for moving over from Santa Chiara hotel to Locanda Vivaldi (70 e ). The info were not mentioning about it.The hotel was included to those with parking space !!!

Fantastic location, close to Piazza San Marco, but not too close, lovely big rooms, good bathrooms, little balcony overlooking canal, with side views of lagoon. Easy strolls to San Marco, Rialto, L'Accademia etc, loads of restaurants, shops, churchs, sites etc. Staff very friendly and helpful, recommended a great restaurant, got a water taxi straight to/from the steps of the hotel.

Tv didnt work in room and shower was too small for a man 😏.. but it was anyway ok

Although the hotel is a little dated, we loved it. Very "Pirates of the Caribbean" inside. The staff was very accommodating and even gave us an amazing canal view since it was off season. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. We would definitely stay here again.

The bathroom is a little small but the shower was more than decent once we figured out the different settings.

Everything about our stay was fabulous. Loved our huge room with fantastic views. Electronic shutters ensured it was quiet and dark at night. We had feared that the hotel might be a little dated however it was very clean and modern with lovely facilities. Really enjoyed the added touches like scented toilet paper and the weather forecast provided along with chocolates in the turn down service. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Location was ideal. Definitely intend to return.

Bed sheets could have been thicker - however this might be unfair as we did not ask for another blanket, I’m sure the hotel would have provided if we had asked.

Breakfast was same every morning

The guy at the desk was rude and unhelpful. Offered a complimentary boat ride to be cast in a scam to sell us glass at greatly inflated cost. We had to find our own way back but they didn’t sell tickets to public trans on the island. Very frustrating. The old guy seamed like everyone was putting him out. Most of the rest of the staff was fine.

The property was actually nice, had some repair issues that they were addressing.

The location is exceptional - the city lies at the front door. The room was small but large enough for our stay. The hotel offers an excellent full breakfast that is served by courteous, efficient staff.

The reception staff were unfriendly, unwelcoming, unengaging and at times frankly, rude.
What could have been a great location and view was spoiled with a huge unsightly metal walkway directly under our window with a constant stream of people crossing, this was very noisy and with many looking towards your window, giving no privacy. This room to me was totally miss represented and overpriced.
This obstruction should have been made clear when booking.
Interior of the hotel is very tired, drab and dark, using a lot of worn out old furniture. There are absolutely bare minimum facilities. E.G. No kettle. No lounge that I could find and terrible shower. Apparently there was a Spa Bath in the room!. I couldn't find it..
Whilst the breakfast team are friendly enough, the whole operation feels like something from Fawlty Towers. Just waiting for John Cleese to pop his head in.

The location is excellent for our needs being a short walk into the main sights in one direction and a lovely peaceful area of Venice in the other. Also close to main Vaporetti stops. The breakfast was as described and there was plenty of choice and variety. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spotlessly cleaned every day and ours had a beautiful view. The shutters kept out a lot of noise and kept the room shady when needed. The staff were very helpful if needed, but not obtrusive. Reception are happy to organise a taxi or water transport if needed, and to book a meal at any of their hotels for residents . The rooftop restaurant views are amazing and we had lovely meal with family up there with excellent friendly service. We enjoyed our stay very much.

This is not at all a complaint but it might be helpful at breakfast to have the options written either on a card in the bedrooms or on the breakfast tables. The options were read out to us one at a time and we were invited to choose as they were read out without knowing the full range of options first. There also seemed to be confusion occasionally (with other guests) as to whether breakfast was included or not and some options included cooked breakfast.
However the breakfast staff were very helpful, and tried to solve any needs that arose.
It could be also helpful to know whether coffee or beverages are available during the day for residents.
These are in no way complaints and we enjoyed our time in Venice very much.
