Beautiful location

Room was hot

Stunning setting and super interesting- wish I had longer there to explore more

It was quite run down. A lick of paint, some maintenance and slight modernising of the interior accomodation would make it feel incredibly luxurious without taking away the heritage charm.

Wasn’t a massive fan of having to go outside to use the toilet in the middle of the night after doing the ghost tour haha would love to know if there is rooms with toilets in them for future stays!

excellent site and wonderful staff. The beach was beautiful. The onsite restaurant and bar was excellent and the food was very good.

My husband and I are not old by any means (46) but having us 2 in a group of 8 x 18 year olds was not great, we were there trying to experience things for the first time in the paranormal investigation tour…. It was very off putting having the younger group constantly talking over the guides trying to help out experience. I would suggest tours for 18 to 30 and 30+ perhaps???? For about $750, for dinner, tour and breakfast and 1 nights stay…. I wouldn’t recommend it…

Fantastic location , great history, great staff

Accomodation was very basic , we had a room with no air con. It was very hot and fan was only just adequate. Get a room with air con if weather is hot.

Great location Very quiet Surrounded by beauty - National park, wildlife, & harbour views. Spectacular! East to walk but the shuttle is also a great idea. Additionally, the shuttles down to Manly are an excellent idea! Great breakfast at the View restaurant- worth adding to your room stay. Sunset sessions on Saturdays-brilliant idea!

Appreciate might be costly to run, but having a small air-con in the smaller rooms would be good. Rooms can get very stuffy once you close the French doors. Unfortunately, they need to be closed at night due to the bugs etc.

Old hair dryer doesn't work, no AC on very hot day, expensive restaurant.

It was in such a peaceful and beautiful setting - even though I was in Sydney for work it felt like a mini holiday - it had a private beach! The shuttles to Manly and back made super convenient to get around (although it was a lovely walk down too)! Amazing to learn history of the building while I was there. Staff were amazing. It’s a special place.

Only very minor things - room guide said there’d be water in the fridge but there wasn’t (a recent change). Couch was a bit sandy a could’ve been cleaned better, one light was flickery.

Beautiful location. Guest suite was basic but adequate. It was a lovely place to relax and enjoy some stunning views. Manly is only a short distance, but without a vehicle you need to rely on a limited shuttle service. However, the public transport was very handy and easy to use. On one occasion we walked to Manly from the accommodation and it was a lovely 25 minute walk with lovely views of the surrounding area.

We did have to wait longer than expected for the shuttle service on more than one occasion. The staff were very helpful, but at least twice we had to wait more than 1/2 hour for the shuttle from our room to reception. This wasn't the best when we were working to timeframes. Also, our guest suite was directly opposite a large convention area where there was a wedding reception held on one of the nights during our stay. This was extremely loud and we had to shut all doors and windows to reduce the noise. This was not pleasant given the heat. The function did not stop until almost midnight, so it was quite disruptive and did impact the quality of our overall experience. We were not told ahead of time that there would be a function directly opposite our guest suite. The accommodation could benefit from an upgrade and in particular, the shower was very inadequate. Additionally, the TV kept going off regularly without any obvious reason. We had to keep turning off the power and then on again to watch anything. This was reported to reception, but it never got fixed during our 5 day stay.

Visit to the city without being in the hustle and bustle without being too far from anything. The shuttle service throughout the site worked very well. The site with its history and surroundings is fascinating. Spectacular views.

The sofa lounge used as a bed is very ordinary - even for a child.

The location was fantastic for our stay in Manly. Very close to nature. The room was large and comfy and we had two balconies to sit on. The outside bathroom was not a problem. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely stay away from the crowds at Manly.

The bed was very comfortable and the shuttle service was excellent

The boilerhouse only offers 4 options for meals (each course). We ate at the onsite restaurant both nights (due to severe weather condiitons restricting our adventures) and thought the menu wonderful the first night yet with dietry retsrictions and issues with seafood our only option on the second night was to order the same dishes.

Peaceful location. Beautiful views. Very quiet. Close to the beach and good walking paths.

The location, historical tour, the views, the australiana buildings, historical preservation and the beach was beautiful.

you need to be very fit to walk around not every room has a bath as described on website, and if bathroom is detached you definitely need bath robe but took me an effort to get one

Very quaint and interesting, peaceful and picturesque, once weather cleared. Staff generally helpful, despite communication issues.

We were there for three days of storms. The age of the buildings meant it creaked and groaned for three days and night solid. It was difficult to sleep through this noise as well as things blowing around outside. Movies in the room never worked despite calling reception. Advised to turn tv off! We were also there for a sports carnival. Despite communicating our requirements for early shuttles and luggage storage facilities to the day staff, only one driver was on duty for every morning. The message about luggage storage also wasn’t communicated. Food and drink insanely expensive on location.

Location superb. Beautiful views lovely beaches and surrounding area. Staff amazing, very helpful..especially the bus drivers. Breakfast definitely value for money.

The boiler house restaurant, was a total disaster over priced .. poor menu. Very very small portions.. not worth the Aus$200 we ended up spending there for a bar menu!! Tv didn’t work. We were also given free tickets for a film in Manly that had (unbeknownst to us, been cancelled .. total wasted trip and two upset grandchildren!!)

Great location, wonderful walking venue, great restaurants, close to manly, staff very accommodating with transport to and from rooms and in and out of Manly.

No air-conditioning - only a ceiling fan that was a little noisy - made the room feel very stuffy. We left the door open to allow for fresh air flow, however, due to a few mosquitos on dusk we needed to close it.

The location and views were absolutely stunning, and I loved getting to explore some of the old buildings and learning about the history of the site. The reception staff were amazing—they upgraded my room when they found out I was on a staycation to rest as a tired mum, which made my stay extra special. The shuttle bus was also super convenient and made getting around really easy. Highly recommend.

Secluded idyllic retreat after a busy time visiting Australia. Perfect relaxation spot. Private beach. Great food in Boilerhouse restaurant and lovely staff.

We were unfortunate the weather very wet. But that's not the hotels fault! The snack bar at the beach has so.much more potential..limited menu and very limited stock.

Actually loved it, I wish we could have driven and parked at the room but I get why you can't drive around the site :)

It was Summer, air conditioning would have been nice, the room cooled down evenutally and we survived.

Heritage property so room was small but well furnished.

As no vehicles allowed on site we needed to use a shuttle bus to get around the site. Some times we had a long wait for the bus.

I loved the beach area it is perfect paradise and the restaurant and bar adjacent were fantastic.

There is no aircon in the bedrooms. It was hot and there were no fly screens to let in any air considering how many insects are around the area. We had a rough sleep both nights as the rooms were so hot and the fan did nothing to cool down the room and was not even positioned over the bed… would not stay again unless aircon is installed. Would definitely be back during winter however!

Lack of air-conditioning.

Lovely spot, views were amazing. The room was comfortable although we had some very noisy rear neighbours after having a room change due to fans not working. The restaurant dinner was exceptional, and breakfast was lovely too.

We were in awe of the beauty of the location. Perfect scenery, very quiet and private, modest room size which was reasonably clean. Reception and some staff members were friendly with ready smiles. The meals at the Boilerhouse Restaurant were terrific, buffet breakfast was hearty with the right varieties and selections. The private beach was very inviting which offers calm and serenity with the idyllic setting.

The thing I did not like is the missing toilet and bath in the rooms. Having them external is such a discomfort and inconvenience. The ceiling fan is making rattling noise such that I did not have a good sleep. The corridor in the toilet and shower facility needs a good clean from spiders and cobwebs.

Clean room, nice bed, great location

Tried to rent snorkelling equipment but the desk wasn't attended for >30 minutes so I just rented from a place in Manly town

- The location and view were amazing. Beautiful and quiet. Perfect for restful vacations - having access to a beach a few hundred meters from our room was stellar, and the beach itself was beautiful. - the cafe by the beach was also great, providing good coffee and basic but good snacks. - the shuttle service very well organise and operational!

- The shuttle to the Manly does not run enough times in the day, especially around lunch time (which would be prime time to leave the station). - Our room did not have a window nor AC, which meant that we had to leave the door open if we wanted some air at night. not ideal. - Breakfast was not a continental breakfast but an english breakfast, and relatively average in quality. Plus there is no proper coffee, only a do-all-kind-of-coffee machine.

Being out of the hustle and bustle. comfy bed and good shower. Staff were great and super easy to get the shuttle to and from Manly.

Didn't realise it had no air conditioning, but we had a nice breeze that came through the doors.

Service at the Boilerhouse restaurant was the only downer... while polite it wasn't very attentive. Food was good and value for money. We would have spent more on drinks and food if the staff had served us correctly.

The location & history of this hotel is so special. It creates a totally unique and interesting interested in the slightly different vibe that is expected from a normal jhorts.

Phone line in our bedroom was broken so made access to a shuttle a lot harder and the breakfast is the only one pm site.

Beautiful location and so serene. To be so close to everything Manly has to offer yet 10 minutes away you could be in the middle of nowhere!

We loved the historical environment and the nature around the buildings. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was very nice too.
