“History buffs and those in search of views and solitude will appreciate Q Station’s smartly refurbished rooms and historic cottages located inside a nook of the Sydney Harbour National Park in Manly. The grounds are dotted with historic buildings where guests can pass the time as quarantined migrants once did, playing billiards, table tennis or savoring the views of Sydney Harbour over cups of tea.”

Shortlisted in New York Times’ 36 Hours in Sydney, Australia.

Very good

Relaxed, friendly, beautiful views

I left my handbag in my locked room upon departure by accident. I rang to inform management but my handbag wasn’t found and was told I would get a call back. I had my chemo side effect meds and tablets in my handbag. I find it untrustworthy as I locked my room when I left so I don’t believe it could have been taken by anyone other than housekeeping or staff. I really loved my stay as I was visiting my adult children before I have another cancer surgery, and would love to come back again, but I feel a bad taste in my mouth due my handbag going missing.

A nice place to stay in parklands by the harbour, and it doesn't feel like the city.

A comfortable room, great location, clean and spacious bathroom. We purchased the breakfast option and the food was freshly prepared, with a fair selection of choices in hot and cold.

Being an old building, the walls between rooms allow some sound, but we didn't hear conversations or encounter any noisy neighbours.

Enjoyed it so much we booked an additional day

Breakfast was good - could possibly mix up the menu a little from day to day. Location was excellent. Shuttle bus to Manly was handy, We enjoyed the history, the tour was very good. Spectacular view of the city.

The room was a little stuffy - needed some AC or ventilation. TV service was poor. Cable TV would be nice. Rooms could use some additional decoration or wall hangings.

Stunning view, lovely stuff and good location.

We booked the rooms with the sea view and we've got the best rooms. The view of our rooms are stunning! Bed is comfortable.

The room is quite hot while outside is cooler. Room has no air-condition, the fan is noisy. We have to leave the door open to get some fresh air in.

Beautiful setting and amazing concept.

The setting is spectacular

The over head fan in the room chugs like a train. It is loud and offensive and it needs to be replaced. There are no screen doors so you have to shut your room at night with no fresh air or cooling breeze. There are no air conditioners

Like a quiet country house, minutes from Manly with amazing views of Sydney Harbour.

It feels like you are in a quiet, country location, but you are 5 minutes from the bustle of Manly, sitting on the verandah looking out over sweeping views of Sydney Harbour, with echidnas and bandicoots wandering by, and owls and bats sweeping past. Peaceful and private, and adequately equipped.

The access can be problematic. Staying the night, you can drive your car to near the accommodation, but there are strict rules around where you can drive and some of the staff were positively rude if you even looked like you might take a wrong turn and head down the wrong road or if you have the audacity to lose the photocopied piece of paper with your apartment number writted on it in pen, as if it were the must ridiculous imposition on them to ask your last name or registration number at the gate. The buildings are partly-restored 1930's houses, so the facilities are pretty basic but perfectly adequate for a small group weekend away.

Stunning views, comfortable and historic.

Loved the location, beautiful views walking around the bush surrounds and discovering all the many buildings and history of the place. Free shuttle was handy, comfortable room, buffet breakfast was reasonable, again with scenic views, a great spot if sitting outside on a sunny morning. Great service, rooms are to be expected, old and historic but renovated into ok comfortable rooms.

Only 2 downsides, shower head in shower/bath way too low to wash hair, and a wedding reception was held directly opposite our room and was very noisy until late! Overall the kids and I loved our weekend away at Q Station Manly.

Nature based isolated and the views outstanding.

The room was great but as ive said many times before during stays, the noise from other rooms is very noticeable. Other guests talking, snoring, banging. That's the only problem otherwise outstanding.

Awesome

We had a room in P12 overlooking towards the Sydney city, Balmoral, Tanya Park, Forty Baskets etc and we had a beautiful view of the room. Room was very nice and we loved that we could walk all the quarantine station. We had coffee and the cafe down on the waterfront. We actually felt like we were away from the hustle of Manly even though we were just up the road. We have done many ghost tours here, but never stayed, but we will be back we loved it. Value for money was great we felt.

Absolutely amazing

Loved the whole thing other then the room was so hot to sleep in as not air-conditioned. The mattress wasn't the most comfortable either. Other then that it was amazing!!! The buffet breakfast was sensational and the tour was unreal!! Definitely highly recommend

Wish we could have stayed longer to explore the property.

Something a bit different from the usual hotel - a lot of character, wildlife around the property (saw a long-nosed bandicoot on the verandah). Comfortable room.

A slight smell of drains. Not unexpected due to the age of the property.

A unique and interesting place to stay but more attention needs to be given to cleaning and maintenance.

Superb location. Staying in a historical monument was interesting and unique. The history tour was fantastic

We stayed in P1 which has external bathrooms. There were lots of spider webs, dust and marks on the walls. Whilst the bed linen was spotlessly clean the actual duvet had lots of marks on it

Stunning location and comfortable accommodation

Staff at reception and driving the buses were excellent. Rooms a bit grimy and toilets in need of a deep clean, with our door quite broken at the lock, but overall very comfortable and beautiful little oasis with its own beach, lots of history, stunning views and free shuttle bus to Manly. An overall fab stay and would deffo come stay here again.

Great spot to stay at a reasonable price

A lovely view, close to Manly, lots of space in the rooms. It has a separate bedroom and lounge room and a little area in between for luggage and hanging space for clothes.

It’s a bit tired. We have stayed there a few times over the past 20 years and it feels like it hasn’t been upgraded at all in that time. The bed in P1 is a bit sagged in the middle and there is a slight mould problem in the outside (and separate) bathroom and toilet. All the rooms are clean but I would recommend the back of the bathroom door and the ceilings in the bathroom and toilet be cleaned.

Great service, great breakfast and would go again if I return to Sydney.

The location was great, with a lot of wildlife in the grounds and fascinating history of the qstation.

In my room the bathroom was external so you had to leave the room to get to the bathroom. It was ok generally but a pain if you had to go in the night. This is a minor point though and I was aware this would be the case.

Historic Location, National Park and Sydney Harbour Tranquility

The Quarantine station is part of Sydney's history and a lovely location to stay to take in the harbour, the heads and the grounds, we stayed in a Heritage King Room. Its proximity to Manly and the ferry services links the stay to everything that Sydney offers. Keep in mind that it is a historic location that comes with wear, tear and other limitations. We were aware of these limits prior to booking and had a very enjoyable stay. Free on-site parking, on-site private harbour beach and a competitive room rate.

I wouldn't say we disliked this list but you should be prepared for them. 1. The grounds are large and worth exploring and there is a shuttle service but it does take 10-15 mins to come and get you. Plan Ahead. 2. The shuttle to Manly is first come best dressed and seats 11 people. I believe they will lay on additional mini-busses if there is a large demand but you can not reserve a seat. 3. No AirCon. Fans and Windows only with little insulation. In very hot weather this could be an an issue. 4. No on-site shop for necessities.

Fabulous

Rooms are spacious and great to have robes and slippers provided too. Staff are so lovely and it was a nice surprise to have plant based options at breakfast and at the cafe. The private beach is gorgeous - such a perfect place to unwind! Interesting visitor centre about the history of the site too. What a fabulous, unique stay!

The room was pretty stuffy as there isn't air con. Given that this is remote location, a mini bar with some options in the fridge would have been helpful on arrival.

Lovely location and great historical significance

Lovely location and exclusive feel to the whole property. The shuttle to each of the different accommodation blocks is super helpful. Staff were great.

Ceiling fan in the room was not super effective against hot Aussie temperatures unless it was on highest settling which was a bit noisy. And lack of windows made it difficult to avoid the room getting stuffy overnight.
