Hotel Pestana Palacio do Freixo, Porto

The Hotel was Grand and Luxurious right up my street plus the SPA was amazing as it was just me and my Fiancé (clearly we picked the right day to have visited the SPA). A wide selection of food and drinks to choose from. I'm always thrilled when Hotels get it right. I mean I was sipping on Prosecco in the morning something I rarely do and the quality was lovely.

Hmm I can't quiet recall anything I'm sure if I wasn't content with something I would have flagged it with staff and they would have acted on it promptly. However, I really can't put a finger on it.

Fantastic stay due to the lovely buildings and very friendly staff.

The staff were all extremely helpful, attentive and friendly, professional yet relaxed. On arrival we were given an upgrade to a room with a river view for which we are very grateful. It was beautiful. We enjoyed the spa very much. Incredible breakfast layout and variety.

The coffee. The orange juice wasn’t freshly squeezed.

Pretty hotel, comfortable rooms, nice restaurant with good food and service, downtown shuttle.

Slightly uncomfortable to move between buildings (main palace vs rooms. Easy to get lost.

Everything about this gem of a hotel, From the incredible staff, fantastic food, beautiful building and the shuttle bus service in and out of Porto. Thank you Rita for the cans of Sumol delivered to my room in a champagne bucket. That was a wonderful surprise. Also a big thank you to Fabio and Rui for driving me to and from the hotel. Barbara and Sofia in the Spa, Sebastian in the bar, and many more of the kind and attentive staff for looking after me. The Director of the Hotel you have an incredible team, and you’re doing a remarkable job - this hotel is in great hands. Very well done.

This has the ‘Wow ‘factor on so many levels. For start to finish they make you feel at relaxed

Could do with a plug or UBS port to charge the phone by the bed, otherwise it’s perfect

It’s a beautiful place. The spa, pool, and public areas are outstanding. Welcoming and turndown service marvelous. Food in hotel pricey but good.

The rooms are rather dark and somewhat threadbare in places, but it’s no big deal.

We had issues with breakfast on two separate days, yes they apologised, but no offer was ,made to adjust the bill, it's not the money but the right thing to have offered

There was a slight toxic smell from the river, but there was torrential rain which could have caused that

Absolutely beautiful hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast selection was good with additional options to order also. There was a free shuttle service into the city center which was very useful. The pool was lovely with no restrictions for children.

The location is a little distance from the city center but the hotel provide an hourly shuttle service so this is not a big issue.

Breakfast was excellent! I loved the location.

When we did the check in they said to us that they were giving us an upgraded but the room was not an upgraded at all, it was almost without windows, very little windows ! We complain about the room and than we moved to a very nice one!

Breakfast is a limited affair.

In a prestigious hotel, Five Star affair, you expect a white linen table cloth and a linen napkin. You receive a cheap black table and a tiny plastic napkin. I discussed this with the management, then I received a linen napkin but but not starched. However, the staff was very well trained and very professional. Something is missing in a Star Hotel. On my departure, I asked for a taxi to be ready at 11:30. The attendant took quite long to produce the invoice. There was not door man around and the attendant proceeded himself to bring my luggage from the second building via two separate elevators to the fourth floor, then up a stairs to the fifth floor. A waste of time. Then, I was waiting for my taxi for another 25 minutes. It was a trying time. At a Five Star Hotel, this should not happen. Secondly, clients were not dressed for this event. Wait staff at dinner were wonderful. The beautiful surroundings the view , the river and gardens etc.

The shuttle service was chaotic and disorganized on where and when the pick up location was to be and/or whether you need to book , or not !

Great staff , friendly, helpful and attentive. Food was lovely l, very extensive bar menu and the sangria was out of this world. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting porto.

Bar around pool should always be open when the weather is good. This wasn’t the case when we stayed making it very difficult to get a drink.
