The White Box Boutique House, Porto

The location was perfect, 5 minutes from Bolhao metro station and the beautiful Bolhao market (go there for lunch, fresh seafood, and a glass of wine). The neighbourhood is vibrant, a lot of small shops, cafes, restaurants, delicious pasteis de nata at every corner.

Everything was lovely, perhaps the sound isolation is not the best.

Breakfast was just bread and a few things. 2 story and had to take bags up.

Excellent location! Large space, and quiet in evening for sleeping and loved the breakfast lounge.

Cute, right in the heart of a shopping area.

It was strange to never meet a person, but they were very helpful and available on the phone. I just didn’t have cell service, so needed to rely on my friend.

The floorboards are very creaky and could keep you awake or wake you up.

Wooden floorboards made it a little noisy when people were moving around but didn't really cause a problem.

Very big and comfortable room. The rooms have heating which is a plus (we visited in January) a very nice house and we felt very comfortable. Check in was easy (we has informed the host when we would arrive)
Breakfast was very good! There is a mini-fridge in the room and that was practical for storing drinks.

This is only a small personal preference: there was no extra water bottles in the room. I know it‘s fine to drink tap water in Portugal but I don‘t like the taste so bottled water in the room would have been nice.

The bath room in our room was too small.

The property was good! It was clean and has a classical look. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was fine.

One of the rooms was really small for a double bed, and the closet was in a bad shape. There was not too much space to put things, specially in the bathroom.

Good location

The breakfast was great! But definitely, the staff member, Elaine (SP) made our time even better. She was kind and caring. The woman who was cleaning up our room for our stay was a very nice person too.

The stairs up to our room were a real challenge with heavy luggage. Nobody at the desk to check us in or answer questions was the downside.

The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was a nice relaxed time-well stocked food choices and tea and coffee available all day and night. Great location.

Our bathroom was quite narrow and hard to move around in.

The White Box is well located on Santa Catarina, a busy shopping street in central Porto. It’s very near the Bolhao metro stop, the incredible market of the same name, and the famous blue tiled Santa Catarina church. The breakfast is delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Its small size (6 rooms) is a plus.

The rooms can be quite small (“cozy”) and cramped to move around in. If you have trouble with stairs, this is not a good choice for you.

Breakfast was great and the location was close to the metro. The room was cozy.

The bathroom was tiny and you could hear people walking in the room above us.

The high ceilings, breakfast was lovely, rooms were clean, service and communication was amazing! We were only here for one night (short and sweet). But everything was as we needed it and the owners were fantastic!

The room set up was a bit strange but made sense considering the space and age of the building. Would have been good to have two double beds instead of twin beds and a double but that's just personal.

We had a very enjoyable stay in Porto. The hotel was well located and everywhere was walkable, we arrived by car and stored it a nearby carpark suggested by the host and did not need to take it out until we checked out. We had the top floor "attic" room which was huge and a pleasant surprise. We thought it might be very hot as it was in the roof space but the A/C was great and kept the room cool. The hotel was in a busy commercial area but on a pedestrianized street so was very quiet.

The stay had no problems but we were not warned that there was a lot of stairs to get to the rooms (62 to our room, maybe around 40 for the others) so it you have a mobility issue you may want to check with the host first. Fortunately this wasn't a problem for us and did not effect our stay.
