Great personal service from the staff. Luisa and Luis were very sweet and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Location is right near the river.

Location is excellent ! Right in the heart of the waterfront, with great views of the bridge. The small hotel is very comfortable with very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Nothing not to like about this little hotel. The rooms are small, but very comfortable.

Location, staff, breakfast. They can arrange taxi for door pick up that accepts credit cards too.

Uber doesn’t drop off at the door.

What a fabulous little gem right over looking the Douro River in the pedestrian old town. Super helpful and knowledgeable staff who couldn't do enough to help. Amazing breakfast and super comfy bed. Thank you ❤️

The location could not have been better, they are located right on the river.

Parking was very difficult. Next time I would arrive by train or take a taxi from a long term parking lot.

One minor thing, waiting a short period of time each time we return to the guest house to get in as the front door was always locked.

There were comments about the outstanding location, room quality, breakfast and services; however, the personal experience with everyone at the Guest House Douro was truly exceptional.

My wife and I travelled around Europe for 6 weeks, staying in many hotels, and this was by far the best one!! We were greeted by the friendliest staff members who took us through all of the sites to see in Porto on a map. The location is brilliant too, right near Ponte Louis I. Breakfast was like we were being fine dined and every request was met to a tee. They are able to do laundry for a small fee as well.

Friends highly recommended this property and it wasn’t long until we could understand why. The staff were absolutely amazing - so friendly and helpful. They could not do enough to make sure your stay was an exceptional experience. They got us into the room early so we could rest after a red eye and offered coffee and tea during our short wait for the room. The breakfast was delicious. A large variety of fresh fruits straight from the market, fresh squeezed orange juice with a second fresh squeezed juice option. Eggs if you wanted them. Yoghurt with granola. Cheese, cold meats, nuts and dried fruits. Luisa was so accommodating and could not do enough for you. Adrianna was so kind to bring tea every night to our room. The rooms were small but very nicely laid out for the space and extremely clean. We had fresh towels everyday and the room was cleaned each day. The location was very close to the water. Lots of restaurants around the guest house and the staff were very helpful with recommendations. 12 min walk to the cathedral area but lots of hills in Porto. If you are visiting Porto highly recommend you stay at the Guest House Douro. You will not regret it.

Absolutely nothing to dislike.

Everything was perfect! Audrina at front desk was so friendly and helpful!! The room over the river was small but perfect. The windows opened all the way with an exceptional view of the Douro river and bridge . The breakfast was absolutely amazing and Louis was wonderful!! We highly recommend this little gem if you want the perfect location and excellent staff.

Excellent location, right near the river. Breakfast was superb and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. We had a wonderful restful stay at the end of our river cruise. Thanks to Luis and Adrianna for taking care of us.

We liked everything but especially the care and attention we received from the staff. Adriana was a delight to talk too. Her recommendations on restaurants and sightseeing were spot on. The young man (sorry forgot his name) who worked the breakfast room was outstanding too. He made sure we had everything that we needed or wished for. He also was super fun to talk too and gave us some Tipps were to go behind the tourist routes. All in total it was an exceptional stay. Thank you!

Excellent location next to the waterfront with easy access to a number of restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was good although you have to pick your time as the breakfast room is small.

Beautiful view of the river and the service was exceptional! Room was lovely and we were close to everything in the tourist area- 3 blocks from Palacio do Bolsas. Delicious and beautiful breakfast and right down the street from Castro’s for warm pastel de nata. Easy to walk the river walk at night and great view of Gaia. Everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful. Luisa was usually there when we were at the hotel and she was lovely and gave great recommendations.

Not a problem for us, but more info for anyone who books here. You are one block into a pedestrian only zone which is great, but you will have to bring your luggage down and back up. It is a historic European hotel, so the room is not large, but it is clean, comfortable, and updated. Being next to the river, you are at the bottom of the hills, so we would uber to the top and work our way down during the day- none of these were actual problems, but planning for it made our trip even better. 10/10 hotel!

This charming little hotel, one of the colorful houses that create Porto's most beautiful view, was one of the best options for our stay in Porto. You can walk to all the tourist spots, but if you prefer, public transportation is also nearby. The room is practical and very clean. The staff are incredibly friendly and unbelievably helpful with any questions or issues. The breakfast is very good and varied for European standards (they can even make changes according to your requests). I definitely recommend it for a pleasant holiday in Porto!

The hotel's only downside might be its small size, but the staff's organization, care, and attention more than make up for it.

Small guest house (8 rooms) with friendly, professional staff who welcomed us warmly and looked after us well. The guest house is in a quiet lane but only 10 steps away from the waterfront. Clean, comfortable room and fabulous breakfast. Highly recommended.

If we could give Guest House Douro a rating higher than 10, we would! From the moment we entered the guest house, we received a warm welcome. The staff ( Luis, Luisa and Adrianna) were incredibly friendly, professional and personable and they made us feel like family. The location was right at the Douro River promenade and we could see the river from our room. We could walk all over Porto. We were a stone’s throw away from great restaurants and the lively ambiance of the promenade. Everything was sparking clean and comfortable.
And the breakfast was incredibly delicious. Fresh fruit of every kind, wonderful rolls, eggs, yogurt, fresh juices, cappuccinos, cheeses and meats and delicious croissants and pastel de natas!!!
Such a great stay. We would come back in a heartbeat.
And did I mention the breakfasts?

We used the car booked by the fabulous staff and it was able to drop us off outside the door- otherwise you will need to negotiate the steep slope next to it! Booked this property because of the wonderful comments about the staff and they were absolutely correct - we had the pleasure of meeting Luisa, Luis and Adrianna who were absolutely wonderful from start to finish! They can’t do enough to help you, making recommendations and reservations for us and it was much appreciated. Breakfast was gorgeous in the small dining room, immaculate and organised with precision timing - gorgeous fruit, juice, hot drinks, fresh bread, cheese, eggs, yoghurt, pastries - lovely! Rooms are not large but it didn’t matter to us. We had a side street view and even that was lovely! Comfortable beds and air conditioning ( needed as it was hot when we were there! ) highly recommended! Thanks for looking after us so well!

Cozy place in a perfect location near the river and in the old town. Many local restaurants nearby.

The location of the hotel was perfect. Close to the river which provided gorgeous views everyday from our room. All of the staff made it so easy and provided us services such as navigation, Ubers and taxis, recommended dinning, and were available for any of our needs at all times.

Everything was excellent

While the location is fantastic, and the breakfast second to none, the thing that really stands out with this tiny hotel of just 8 rooms is the staff. Luis and Louisa enthusiastically welcomed us, provided recommendations on what to see and do and eat (and where to find the best franceshina and pastel de nata), and ensured we were well fed before each day’s adventures. Months before we even arrived, Luis arranged a driver to meet us at the airport at midnight, ensuring that transfer to the hotel along pedestrian-only streets went smoothly.

Nothing to not like. The rooms are small, but this is expected (not a criticism).

The hotel is fantastic! Our room overlooked the river with a wonderful sunrise. Perfect central location. Staff attentive and couldn’t be more helpful. Lots of local restaurants. Breakfast was the best I’ve had in a hotel.

The location is perfect. The guest house is very clean, the rooms in the back have a lovely view. Breakfast is delicious. And the absolute best part is their manager, Luis. He is the MOST dedicated person to customer service in the world…and he does it with kindness and immense patience.
I would recommend the back rooms and not the ones facing the front.

The front room was very noisy at night until late.

Everything from the minute we walked in we were greeted by Luis and later Philip.
Everything was immaculate and the breakfast was even better than any 5 Star hotel!
