We liked the location and price point with breakfast included. We loved the hospitality and helpfulness of the staff. Luis was very helpful with sightseeing as well as pleasant conversations in the morning. Felipe had good dinner recommendations. Overall, great stay!

The size of the hotel room is a bit small. However, we realize that this is normal in these types of buildings.

The staff were absolutely amazing, going above and beyond to meet all our requests. A huge thank you to Luis and Philip for their exceptional service. Our room overlooked the river, offering breathtaking views that we thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfast was wholesome and delicious, featuring a wonderful selection of fresh, local fruits that added a special touch to our mornings.

This is such a cute, clean, upscale and very nice property. The breakfast was quite beautiful, the room clean and the staff extremely attentive.

A little tricky to find, (even though its on the river, cars/uber can't access from there). Might be helpful to let guests know in the messaging at booking a little clarity of finding front door.

It had the most beautiful view from our room. Just incredible, it was magical looking out. The breakfast was so good. The staff went beyond for us. Thank you for everything for going out of your way. We stayed two nights. Saturday night was rough, it was very loud. People were partying outside. On Sunday night was a lot better, it wasn’t as loud. The Guest House Douro is outstanding!

Many to like: location is right by the river and our room (a tad small) had the perfect view. Clean room, fluffy clean towels and nice toiletries. Breakfast fills you up for the day’s activities. The staff, Luisa, Luis, and Philip are like relatives you haven’t traced. They’re helpful to bits!

It is in a great location although it can be noisy at times (although the noise did not keep us awake). The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was serviced each day and we could ask for extra water if needed.

There is no mini-bar or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Although we could have asked for either at anytime. The room is small but given all did was sleep in it this was not a problem. Be aware the room is close to the river which means it is in a lively area but you need to climb up the hill to see many of the central city sights.

Absolutely amazing staff. Always happy to offer suggestions and recommendations, with nothing being too much trouble. Having see photos of the breakfast when booking, I was very excited to go down to the dining area on my first day, and it did not disappoint. I now need to start preparing dragon fruit every day before work!

The hotel was in the main waterfront area. Very comfortable. Breakfast delicious.

It is a small, cozy hotel, the staff, usualy 1 person at a time, takes care of everything. great breakfast, adjusted to your personal needs. the location, on the river banks, lets you enjoy all you look for within a walking distance. luckily you always ended your evening walking downhill..

The location was perfect but the staff exceptional, Luis really helped us out when I needed to get some medical help. (Was not life threatening) The breakfasts were delicious and all were very attentive to details. If we ever go back I would definitely book there again!

We enjoyed this hotel for its location and helpful staff. Although rooms were a little small everything else made up for any inconvenience. This is the place to stay on the Ribeira and the staff helped us get some great port tours. A lot of helpful advice. Everyone was really fun and engaging during breakfast.

The location was walkable to town and quiet for a good night’s sleep. The breakfast was great and the staff very helpful in giving information and making any needed bookings.

The included breakfast was very tasty and so beautifully presented The location was excellent, being right on the riverfront…so convenient to wander around and then walk to our river cruise ship. The hostess was very helpful and friendly, offering travel tips and also giving us a large bottle of cold water when we arrived

Excellent location on waterfront right in the middle of Ribeira. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and gave us tips as to where to go to eat and visit. Luis in particular deserves a mention for his enthusiasm and helpfulness. Room was comfortable too. Breakfast was excellent - a beautiful display of fruit on your table and everything of good quality. Made a lovely healthy change from the buffet style breakfasts.

Our river view room was tiny but gorgeous. There is a lot of noise at night though seems to end around 10pm.

We loved our Guest House Douro stay. The hotel employees were all so pleasant and helpful. They were so personable and gave great restaurant and "places to visit" advice. The morning breakfast was delicious and the service was excellent. The location of Guest House Douro was aweome! Will definitely come back!

We appreciated the welcoming presence of the staff and their willingness to give us recommendations and assistance in planning part of our visit. The accommodations were exceptional, and breakfast was outstanding. The view from our room was amazing too.

We liked everything; however, others have complained about the size of the room. If you are expecting a large hotel room, you will not be happy.

Definitely falling into the 'small boutique hotel' category, GHD is a very well positioned, small but beautifully formed hotel standing on the banks of the River Douro. We had a river facing room with a view of the Dom Luis bridge. Comfortable, if a little small, with good quality bed and bedding. Breakfast is provided in a small downstairs room of 3 tables. Excellent quality fruit, meat and cheeses etc plus eggs available to order. The staff are what make the hotel. Luis, Philip and Louisa are charming and always available for advice and a point in the right direction. All in all a lovely stay in a beautiful city. Thank you GHD.

I love the quaint signage tucked in the alley. They are so incredibly welcoming We loved the entire breakfast experience, it’s like you are the only ones they are concerned with for the breakfast time and yet you share breakfast with others and we all feel that special. We loved the recommendations, the willingness to help in any way to make our stay even better. Lucia, Luis, and Beatrice … INCREDIBLE Don’t miss this quaint boutique hotel, trust me on that, worth every penny and grateful and thankful for the experience. Lovely, friendly place to stay with an excellent location and views from our room over the waterfront and river. Loads of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. But what made the experience so enjoyable was the staff who all went out of their way to help.

Not a big deal but rooms are on the snug side.

The property is in a premium location near the riverfront and beautiful views of the old town. The service provided by Luis was second to none, and the breakfast was exceptional.

There is no space to really sit and enjoy some quiet time except perhaps in your room on the bed.
