The included breakfast was very tasty and so beautifully presented The location was excellent, being right on the riverfront…so convenient to wander around and then walk to our river cruise ship. The hostess was very helpful and friendly, offering travel tips and also giving us a large bottle of cold water when we arrived

Excellent location on waterfront right in the middle of Ribeira. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and gave us tips as to where to go to eat and visit. Luis in particular deserves a mention for his enthusiasm and helpfulness. Room was comfortable too. Breakfast was excellent - a beautiful display of fruit on your table and everything of good quality. Made a lovely healthy change from the buffet style breakfasts.

The staff was wonderful as was the breakfast - especially the tropical fruit.

Our river view room was tiny but gorgeous. There is a lot of noise at night though seems to end around 10pm.

We loved our Guest House Douro stay. The hotel employees were all so pleasant and helpful. They were so personable and gave great restaurant and "places to visit" advice. The morning breakfast was delicious and the service was excellent. The location of Guest House Douro was aweome! Will definitely come back!

The rooms were a little small, but very comfortable. But everything else about the hotel is worth staying!!

We appreciated the welcoming presence of the staff and their willingness to give us recommendations and assistance in planning part of our visit. The accommodations were exceptional, and breakfast was outstanding. The view from our room was amazing too.

We liked everything; however, others have complained about the size of the room. If you are expecting a large hotel room, you will not be happy.

The service is truly the best you’re ever likely to find. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble and the service brings a new definition to friendly and helpful.

The location is excellent and the breakfast is terrific. To complain that it is small is just not reasonable.

Definitely falling into the 'small boutique hotel' category, GHD is a very well positioned, small but beautifully formed hotel standing on the banks of the River Douro. We had a river facing room with a view of the Dom Luis bridge. Comfortable, if a little small, with good quality bed and bedding. Breakfast is provided in a small downstairs room of 3 tables. Excellent quality fruit, meat and cheeses etc plus eggs available to order. The staff are what make the hotel. Luis, Philip and Louisa are charming and always available for advice and a point in the right direction. All in all a lovely stay in a beautiful city. Thank you GHD.

I love the quaint signage tucked in the alley. They are so incredibly welcoming We loved the entire breakfast experience, it’s like you are the only ones they are concerned with for the breakfast time and yet you share breakfast with others and we all feel that special. We loved the recommendations, the willingness to help in any way to make our stay even better. Lucia, Luis, and Beatrice … INCREDIBLE Don’t miss this quaint boutique hotel, trust me on that, worth every penny and grateful and thankful for the experience. Lovely, friendly place to stay with an excellent location and views from our room over the waterfront and river. Loads of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. But what made the experience so enjoyable was the staff who all went out of their way to help.

The property is in a premium location near the riverfront and beautiful views of the old town. The service provided by Luis was second to none, and the breakfast was exceptional.

There is no space to really sit and enjoy some quiet time except perhaps in your room on the bed.

Everything was great but Luis went above and beyond and made our stay a wonderful experience. Will definitely return.

Loved the location, the staff, the breakfasts. You must have a river facing room… the balcony is tiny but I was able to make a comfy chair out of the pillows on my bed and sit with the doors open, sipping on some wine, watching the world go by below. Loved it! Walking distance to everywhere.

Very convenient to the main points of Porto and Gaia. Public parking was less than a block away. The staff, especially Luis, was beyond gracious. He accommodated all of our needs. Definitely went above and beyond.

There was nothing I did not like about the property.

The Guest House Douro is an excellent location concerning service, room comfort, cleaning and especially the excellent fresh breakfast with the kind service. The view of Douro, the bridge and the town is fantastic so that you are close to a lot of highlights. We will come back out of the season.

In summer it can be very noisy, ship with disco just in front untl 23h00. On the other side of the river disco until 6h00 in the morning. It is not the fault (!!)of the excellent guesthouse and the windiows give quiet well isolation, but big loud bass sounds are going through all the walls of the town. The tourist office and the responsable administration of the town has to think about what kind of tourism they want to support. We think that party-people can celebrate in a way without disturbing big parts of the town, at soundproof places, loud jetski and fast boats chasing resting birds don’t respect the spirit of Douro and the amazing culture of Porto. In general noise reduction is an important element of life quality in town.

Excellent location. The breakfast is outstanding with fresh fruit, meats, bread, juice and coffee. The service is outstanding! Luis and Phillip were extremely helpful and courteous. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this property! They cater to all your needs!

The room was very small but adequate for sightsee-ers since one is mostly out and about all day.

It is impossible to stop near the hotel even just to unload your luggage. It is better to park at Alfândega car park, which is just in 2-3 minutes to walk even for unloading your luggage. It costs only 1.2 per hour.

Everything about the Guest House was exceptional ~ from arrival to departure.

Accessing property after being dropped off by Uber. Lots of cobblestones.

It is on the river front so it is perfect for location and river views. Pay a little more and ensure one of the floor 2,3,or 4 river view rooms. The staff are all superb and they can arrange tours for you and give good restaurant recommendations

Space is limited in the breakfast room so you have to book a breakfast time slot. No tea facilities in room however early morning tea is provided on request free of charge.

The staff were super helpful in getting things arranged as well as recommendations for where to go to see and eat.

Room and bath were very small. Hardly any room to put suitcases. I know it was the nature of the shape of the building, and we were only there one night, so it was bearable, but it would have been nice to have a little more room.

Loved the location. All the staff were exceptional - helpful, professional, friendly. Room was clean and quiet even though it was on a busy street. The fruit at breakfast was amazing. They even sourced a banana for me which I really appreciated.
