It was clean

Too many homeless crackheads around. Heard screaming throughout the night. Didn't feel safe. Bed was very uncomfortable. We both left with a backache. No fridge in room. Very small room. Very small shower. Why is coffee only complimentary from 8 to 10am. Very strange.

The room was very good, clean and comfy, the morning coffee and the backyard were perfect, the location - very close to downtown !

Not heated before mid-end October (heaters need to be serviced). The room was 16.5 degrees Celsius when I arrived and I was quite cold the first night, despite many cloths layers and additional blankets. I missed the fact that there are no elevators when I booked.

Love the decor. Enjoyed sitting in the garden patio. The bed and all the bedding was luxurious. The bathroom and shower were stunning. Easy walk to many shops etc. Awesome coffee bar.

I could see for some not having an elevator and walking the three flights of stairs could be an issue but I enjoyed the exercise. Missing coffee whitener in the rooms was disappointing as I love coffee in my room. The beautiful lobby has a great complementary coffee bar.

Simple, sensible, clean and convenient. It seemed like every personal need, however small had been thought out and provided for.

The room including washroom was clean and the decor was nice. The hotel staff were friendly.

The room was super small and it was not how I saw in the pictures when booking online. The room that I booked had a different style washroom and different style bedset. There were only three other hotelers that we saw, it was super quiet that it seemed scary. The environment around the hotel was okay, there were alot of homeless people.

Location and very comfortable

I LOVED this hotel. It felt like an ideal version of a small-hotel stay in Europe: clean, comfortable, not high luxury but run by owners who care and who fill the place with little well-thought out touches. There's coffee in the morning in a lovely common room or in the garden. It's a very central location, sandwiched between the heart of downtown and the university, in an old neighbourhood with Victorian-era houses and churches. Caveat: as an old neighbourhood, it is also home to a couple of homeless missions and social services - just in case the presence of the users of those services would be troubling to you. However, the hotel is a cozy treat, and the neighbourhood deserves to be appreciated for its history and beauty.

If the people in the neighbouring rooms happen to be early risers, you'll hear the knocking about. It's not a totally soundproofed place (although I was in the smallest room-grade on the ground floor). However, I heard no sound from the street or traffic.

Location is very good, it is clean and has good managers.

Clean and tidy. Everything seemed quite modern and we'll kept. Staff were very friendly.

There were so many homeless / people on drugs in the carpark right opposite the hotel. It was a bit confronting and I wouldn't want to be walking around alone or at night. But unfortunately I don't think that's unique to this hotel... In terms of the room itself, the air-conditioning was a bit temperamental and the quilt was very heavy and hot with no top sheet so it was difficult to get the temperature right for sleeping. But otherwise the bed was comfortable.

Would have been nice to have breakfast and more available parking . Unfortunately the homelessness situation in Ottawa is very evident and is in direct proximity to the hotel

Lovely guest and a really great place to stay. The only thing is, if you have a heavy bag and are on the second floor it can be tricky to manoeuvre the bag up and down the stairs. That aside, the host was absolutely lovely and and the room pristine. I enjoyed the short stay and was impressed with the facilities. Top notch.

The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Free coffee is available every morning, but no breakfast. It is very conveniently located close to the heart of Ottawa.

Location, location, location. Clean room, clean hotel, excellent coffee machine in the common area (at a fee outside of breakfast hours).

If I remember well, they used to serve breakfast but this was not the case in November 2022. I wonder why that is. Only four parking spots. On-street parking is free in some periods but this can be annoying.

Swiss Hotel has seen better days. There is a drug market outside the door and the police stop by every few hours to control it. The drug market is quite serious and not safe. There is a security guard at night inside the hotel, but he's not that friendly. He'll make you go back up to your own floor to use the toilet, etc.

I did not like the red chairs and specifically asked for them to be removed. They were not.

Friendly staff on arrival, good-sized room with great facilities (the curling iron was a lovely touch) and a comfortable bed. Good location too, 10 minutes walk from both Rideau Centre and Byward Market.

Only downside was the noise from outside which was very audible (i think the windows were single glazed) and did affect my sleep on the first night. However, this would be easily avoided via earplugs (I just didn't have any).

Clean

No tissue, No slippers, No breakfast, very expensive. They don't even remove the garbage every day from the rooms. No elevator. They don't have a person to help the old or sick people with the luggage as they don't have even internal elevator.

The place was lovely. Had a wonderful energy about it. Warm, comfortable and relaxing. Spotlessly clean. Very nice modern looking room with everything that you may need during your stay including curling iron, bathrobs , nespresso machine and much more. I had a great sleep in a super comfy bed with beautiful duvet. There is also a gorgeous French style garden with lots of plants. The owner is very pleasant, welcoming and accomodating. Great location. Just a short walking distance to Byward Market.

I had to go to the us consulate and they were very helpful and kind. I was allowed to leave my luggage at the hotel which allowed me to walk around the city the next day as well.

The hotel is located in a central but undesirable part of the city. The hotel it self however felt very safe and secure.

A boutique hotel with very friendly staff. Perfect location. Room was small but very well equipped and thought through. It had everything you need. Comfy bed. Nice sheets and pillows.

Not a hotel fault but outside area was a bit dodgy. Lots of drug addicts sleeping rough on the steets. It did not feel safe. But walking two blocks away and you were near the center so as long as you can manage that it's fine.

Our room was comfortable and a nice size, loved having a nespresso machine in the room, owner was extremely kind and friendly, the outdoor garden sitting area was lovely. We were closely located to Rideau centre mall, byward market, short walk to many museums. a good base to explore the city.

while the location was conveniently located, the neighbour hood was a bit rougher than expected. I did feel safe with the hotels security though. parts of the room could have been cleaner, for example, inside the bathroom vanity drawers with the blow dryer had hair in it and could have been wiped down better.

if you value space then make sure you book one of the larger rooms. i booked one of the double bed rooms and the room was quite small.

The hotel is not accessible. Narrow stairwell and no elevator.

The only drawback is that this boutique hotel has no breakfast facility at all.
