Grand Hotel, Oslo

Location was perfect. Bar staff very attentive.

My room was very very small.

good breakfast for additional cost. Lobby had nice ambience.

Very warm room with little air circulation. They brought us a fan. Why have they no ramp inside of the lobby to roll suitcases up to elevator?

Bathroom lights did not work. Had to push the on/off button 5-10 times for the ceiling lights to turn on.

The BIG problem is the stairs. Half a flight from foyer to lifts was no problem as someone there to help with luggage. But they didn’t tell you nor offered help when you found there was another half flight just before your room. And no one to help lift the heavy luggage up the stars. Big problem for older people!!

Beautiful location, it’s proximity to the shops, cafes and train station makes it an ideal place to stay. We celebrated my husband’s 70th birthday and staff were exceptionally helpful in making our event so memorable. We will always be grateful ❤️

Room we stayed in was too small and there were no toiletries. Although the hotel provides shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotions but misses the other rooms essential toiletries.

The location is excellent. There is great history. The property is currently undergoing some needed renovations- it is dated. Lobby is beautiful and inviting. We had dinner one night, which was ok. Breakfast is very good.

There was no obvious ramp to move luggage from check-in level to the elevators

The location was superb and the building elegant, my overall experience was not what I expected from a 5-star hotel. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfortable.

The check-in process was disappointing. Despite indicating that we might arrive 1-2 hours earlier than the 3pm check-in time, our room was not ready when we arrived at 13:30. We left our luggage at the hotel and went for a walk around Oslo center, returning just five minutes before 3pm to find that our room was still not ready. The receptionist simply returned our suitcases and told us to wait in the lobby, without even offering a drink or suggesting how long we have to wait. After 15 minutes of waiting, we had to ask another member of staff for assistance before finally receiving our room key. Furthermore, there were stairs in front of the elevator and in the halls leading to our room, but no one offered to help us with our luggage. This was not the level of service I expected from a 5-star hotel. Finally, breakfast was served in a crowded and noisy café, which detracted from the overall experience.

our room -we paid for a superior room only one was available had stairs you had to climb and the view was the top of a roof loaded with exhaust ducks . So we opted for a lesser room which should have been cheaper but because we booked thought a third party they couldn't reduce the price to match the room .Very disappointed over paid .

The hotel is right in the center of the city, with a beautiful rooftop bar and spa, which was very affordable and fun. The lobby is beautiful and both stairs and elevators were spacious and comfortable to use. The room was big and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was diverse and delicious. The staff was very accommodating and gave us plenty of ideas of activities to do along with tips on how to get to the airport.

The rooms around us had construction going on, which meant there was quite a bit of noise during the day, as well as debris in the hallway. As for the bathroom, it had some awkward angles which made it tricky to climb into the shower.

The best thing is location. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and room temperature was adjusted for a good sleep.

The light next to mirror is too dim for doing makeup etc and we are a family of four, hence had to wait for shower room to be free for doing makeup/lenses etc.

The revamp is actually rather well done. The main lobby is fine, with a welcoming bar area. The young man who was at the front door was really helpful, and should get an award. The bar staff were also good.

The Grand café has been modernised. Gone is the seat reserved for Mr. Ibsen. The paintings have fortunately been preserved. I took breakfast there. One had to walk around a Lot to find what was where. One member of staff was really rather dizzy.L: brought cappuccino whipped milk for me to add to tea, and seemed to be rather abstract - or with thoughts elsewhere. The room was small, the floors were split-level 4/5. Immediately a sign that one was not really valued. I think that I would have got a better deal by booking directly.

location is amazing, right in the center of town, near jazz bars and dining. decor is awesome, rooms were big and beautiful!!!!

Location: Fabulous, easy connect to all the sightseeing and activities. Room: Well kept and clean Breakfast: Beautiful! Never before have I had a candle lit breakfast! it is quite an experience and I might re-do it at home!

The staff could have been a little more helpful - they almost expected us to manage and do it ourselves. Not what you expect out of a luxury hotel ever.
