Taking its name from a Norwegian-American maritime business and previously serving as the company’s headquarters, the Amerikalinjen building is a piece of history dating back to 1919.

The location was excellent, although we had a car and it was so hard to drive in the center of Oslo!
The garage was great.
The bar downstairs at night, offered good drinks, but the kitchen was closed:( But we lucked out and our waitress could find us dessert, macaroons! That was so nice!
The breakfast was amazing!!!!

High quality **** hotel in the center of Oslo
Excellent ****+ hotel with a lot of style and character, perfect location, very confortable and stylish rooms (bed are perfect and shower realy nice). Very good breakfast!
We had no view, or worst, the view on another hotel that had a terrasse, which had a direct view in our room.

Elegant hotel but its location is both plus and minus
The hotel has a very interesting interior, the room was extremely clean, with beautiful, interesting design of a bathroom, fantastic breakfast, very helpful staff.
The location of the hotel is both its advantage and disadvantage. The hotel is located in front of the main railway station in Oslo, which is an advantage, if you use a railway. If close proximity to the station is not needed, the location may be a disadvantage, the station itself and its surroundings are still full people taking drugs, we arrived at the hotel on Saturday evening, there were quite a few drunk people, there is a small park nearby and even though it is the center of Oslo, I did not dare to go out there alone in the evening, it is not a safe, not a nice place. It is better than it was before but in comparison to other cities, we felt neither nice nor safe so from that perspective the location of the hotel is a disadvantage. The hotel did not have a restaurant or any place where at 10 pm you could eat something, downstairs there is a bar, very crowder and noisy, but there is no place in which the hotel guest can simply eat something late evening.

Wonderful staff and location!
The breakfast was GREAT. I really appreciated being able to "schedule" breakfast for optimum flow.
Options on days the bar and the restaurant are closed. There was a limited menu option but didn't appeal.

We selected as close to train station and we were doing "Norway on the Nutshell". It is 5 minute walk. But what I loved was atmosphere and staff very friendly and supportive. Excellent breakfast.

Fabulous hotel in a superb location
What an amazing hotel. Fabulous rooms with every need catered for, the beds were the most comfortable we've ever slept in. And we've slept in a few!!
Friendly and welcoming staff, housekeeping and reception especially.
Also Dominic in the cocktail bar, what an asset he is! Incredibly professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. Superb cocktail explanations and a winning smile. Great atmosphere in the bar and around the entire hotel.
