Hotel Royal Sonesta, New Orleans

check in time is hard to make because most people come in earlier than 4

The property was wonderful. It was beautiful everyone that I encountered was courteous and respectful. Everything as far as that goes was almost perfect.

I had some issues getting into the parking garage, with my GPS. It may have been my inexperience with how the garage is set up as compared to the hotel. Once I got there, the Bellman was wonderful the parking garage attendance was great. Everyone was wonderful. I had some issues with the phone in the room. The number on the phone was not the number of the room, it really wasn’t a problem. However, the operation of the phone was a little strange, because I tried to call Gas services and couldn’t get through, and other Air is at the hotel I could not reach. The heater was not blowing real hot and I chose the one cold weekend to go, there was a small gap in the door but I wanted the balcony so it was a little cold but it wasn’t bad. The bathroom was kind of small, but that just may be the way the room is.

Great central location for Mardi Gras, we had a room on the back so heard no noise at all which was lovely for us after a very long flight. The bed was super comfy and we slept really well. The jazz club and bar are great, we saw two jazz bands that were both phenomenal and the service was excellent the barman was really great. Also the crab cakes are exceptional, I highly recommend them!

Room cleaning service was lacking, when they did come each time we had less towels than the day before! They didn't vacuum the floor the one day and didn't really do much like clean, replace the coffee or water that we used. We did report it but not much changed, on the last full day there we had no room service visit at all.

I loved the location, and the cleanliness of the room. Everyone of the employees we came in contact with was very friendly.

I didn’t like the fact that the parking fee was crazy high.

Clean and convenient

No microwaves in rooms nor in common area. You would have to order a microwave to be delivered to room for an additional $25-$50 on top of the price you paid for your room. Went they run out of microwave rentals you will not be able to warm up anything if needed. Had to go back and forth with night Manager in order to get something warmed up. I have been in Hotel Hospitality for years and it took an act of congress just for the Manager to be accommodating for certain circumstances. Also, there is a $250 incidental deposit fee that is required. Lastly, had a Security Guard at front door named Skip that was stereotyping specific folks when entering the Hotel Lobby. My son and I upon arrived had just simply walked into the door, was stopped and threatened to be kicked out and off property if we were not staying there while others had no issues in front and behind us that were entering. That Security Guard needs to be trained better on approach with customers that enter the property because first impressions are lasting. I will not be returning to this property.

Property was great as far as food , location and appearance. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff. Manger was helpful .

Our first room had bugs in the bathroom toilet paper and shower.I still don’t know if they are bed begs or lice or any other pest. They did move us room and give a $75 credit but it left me uneasy the rest of the day and night.

I was able to get an upgrade to balcony room at a reasonable up charge. Staff was very polite and helpful. Location was perfect.

Location is the best. And Hotel is very nice with historical building feelings

The decorations, and the construction vehicles outside obstructing our view. The noises from the air system were comical and obnoxious depending upon the sound...at either one, it would have been better to have peace and quiet.

Clean and well kept and security was great right on the heart of French quarter

The rooms with balconies aren’t separate, the same hallway connect to all balconies

Our door broke and it took an hour and 1/2 to get in the room after the sugarbowl at 12am ! We had to just sit in the hall

Beautiful building/lobby! Comfortable bed.

Service was inconsistent. The valet/bell staff were fantastic, but other requests went unanswered. Rooms are small / bathroom is a little dated. Noise level from the street is a bit much at night. Both the room size and the noise are understandable given the age and location of the building, but both would influence my decision to stay there again.

Room was situated on the inner courtyard with na balcony which was nice

Central location, mostly quiet rooms. Security at night only lets in guests despite all the craziness going on outside.

There was a street drummer outside the window for a bit, that was annoying

The location was just the best. New Orleans is a extremely beautiful place. Hotel is amazingly beautiful and big. Although is located in the center of the noisy Bourbon street, when you enter the rooms you hear no noise at all.

Everything was perfect. It would be nice if breakfast could be included in the booking of the room.

Nice locatin if you want to stay on Bourbon street. The security in the lobby was a nice presence. The Desire restaurant was very delicious. Customer service was spectacular.

The shower water pressure was poor. The TV did not have built in streaming services you can log on to.

The location (and balcony room) gave us an up close experience of the culture of Bourbon Street.

We were shocked to find a cockroach in our room! When informing the front desk, they laughed at us and asked why we didn’t just kill it… They did offer us a room change, but with no apologies. This kind of ruined our stay, and memory of the hotel. In my opinion, this is totally unacceptable for what is expected to be a high-end hotel - especially considering the price we spent on a three night stay.
