Residency Hotel Fort, Mumbai

I’ve stayed at this hotel several times, and I can confidently say it’s the best in South Mumbai. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms are always spotless, and the metro is conveniently located right next to the hotel. Highly recommended!

I’ve stayed at this hotel several times over the years, and each visit reinforces why it remains my top choice in South Mumbai. From the moment you arrive, the staff make you feel genuinely welcome—they’re friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a comfortable stay. The rooms are consistently spotless and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches that make a big difference after a long day. Housekeeping does an excellent job, and everything—from the linens to the overall cleanliness—meets a very high standard. One of the biggest advantages is the location. Having the metro right next to the hotel makes getting around incredibly convenient, whether you’re heading out for sightseeing, business, or dining in other parts of the city. Overall, this hotel delivers an excellent combination of comfort, service, and convenience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting South Mumbai.

It was in a great location - close to the tourist sites and in an interesting section of Mumbai (Fort). The staff were just fabulous. They couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast was great as was the tea, coffee and biscuits in the late afternoon (no charge). The hotel gives guests free access to a gym and there’s a laundry next door. Deluxe rooms are not large but perfectly adequate and quiet and located two doors up from the main reception. We didn’t check out a heritage room but were told these are bigger and in the same building as Reception. This hotel really made our time in Mumbai so much more enjoyable.

The card that opened the doors was a bit unpredictable. Otherwise nothing.

The staff were the best we’ve ever had and couldn’t help you enough. Free tea and coffee in the afternoon and nice omelettes for breakfast. We felt very welcome. Comfy bed and nice bathroom. We would definitely come back.

We were given a windowless ground floor room and some of the fixtures were a bit tired. If we returned we would ask for a room with windows.

All staff members were very kind and really tried to help us with everything the we needed. Food was really tasty. Location is very comfortable.

Room smelled of dump - things got better if one lets the ac on all night

The hotel location is great and the staff were very friendly - Oan Singh, Balu, Rajesh, Gopql, Roshan, some of the names k can recall - were courteous and accommodating.

The room size was very small and related comforts require more attention with respect to condition, functionally, wear and tear. Also, for an 8 days total stay, we expected a decent sized room with all amenities functioning and good condition. I would still recommend Residency.

Location was great in the Fort area...walking distance to most heritage spots. The new AQUA metro (Hutatma Chowk station) was a real bonus...40 mins to CST Airport T2...and only INR 70..a bargain tbh. I could get from Andheri West in the north of the city to Hutatma Chowk in about 1 hr and 10 mins all in A/C comfort... The staff were so friendly and there were many returning guests stating there..which is a testament to the level of service and comfort offered. My room in the Heritage Wing was a good size and met my needs totally...overlooked the street but not excessively noisy. I asked for a change from the one booked which was readily done with no fuss. Breakfast sections were good ...either Indian or Western options... Eating out options were readily available...

. We had a wonderful stay here. The rooms were compact yet spotless, ideal for a short visit. The location was very convenient, close to all the main attractions we wanted to see. Breakfast each morning was excellent, offering a good variety to suit different tastes. The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommended.

Great hotel in the center of Mumbai fort. Great position to visit all the main monuments of the city, have access to great restaurants, shops and cafes. Just at few minutes walking distance there is a new metro line that is connecting to the airport and many city areas. The staff here is excellent, it is true that at the end of the trip they become like your friends! The rooms were beautiful, either all the comforts and very clean. The staff of the hotel helped us with so many things, call taxis, change money, have dinner in the room and other services. We loved the breakfast, both continental and local. Do not miss the great artistic cappuccino! We absolutely suggest you to book this hotel!

I have stayed here several times and the welcome from staff has always been so warm and friendly. It meets my needs really well and is very reasonably priced. The location is ideal for access to the Mumbai Railway Station via a 5-minute taxi ride, which hotel staff happily pre-booked for me. We needed to catch a 7am train to Pune so the hotel made special arrangements for my friends and I to take early breakfast in the dining room. They also offer free tea/coffee/chai at almost any time of day and are happy to recommend excellent safe restaurants. I highly recommend the Residency Hotel Fort.

There was nothing I didn't like. Perhaps a safe in the room for valuables would be a nice extra, but it wasn't a problem for us.

The hotel is very good! We arrived in the early morning. The staff was very polite and offered breakfast and early check-in. The breakfast was very tasty. Around good restaurants and in walking distance there are main city sights. We had some complimentary tea break in the evenings and welcoming staff ready to asist.

We liked everything.

The staff was incredible, very helpful, informative, smiling! I showed them my shoes where the soles where coming off and within 30 minutes they had been glued and stitched by a shoemaker. Breakfast was good and best of all, they had a COFFEE MACHINE. I could get my daily Coffee Americano right there (that doesn't always happen in Indian hotels). A big PLUS! The location is perfect. I have stayed in Colaba many times, but now drfinitely prefer this location. Close to anything, Marine Drive is only a 15-minute walk away. Don't miss out Pizza on the Bay!

Our room was very small. And the hotel might be a bit pricey, but it's central so I guess you have to pay for that.

Location is fantastic - strongly recommended for that alone - very close to all the heritage buildings and just around the corner from the subway. I met lots of people who stayed way further north in Mumbai to save money and I'm glad I didn't. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent - chefs cooking eggs and dosa fresh to order, plus Indian and Western options. Room was a little mixed - bed was super comfortable and aircon/Wi-Fi both worked really well. The room was a little run-down though, and unfortunately I didn't have a window!

Room a little run-down. Also, noise from the corridor was quite significant - I was woken up at 3am and at 6am by people talking (i was in room 410 on the ground floor - might not be an issue on other floors).

Rooms were on the small side, but that was ok given the location

I had an absolutely lovely solo stay here as I got to town a few days before a wedding I was attending. The location is incredible, absolutely in the thick of the action, walking distance to many of the must see sites, incredible museums, and amazing restaurants. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, Gopal specifically was very helpful and friendly and made me feel right at home. The front desk staff even loaned me an adapter when mine broke. The rooms are beautiful and clean, and block the noise and light from the street well enough. I rarely take advantage of breakfast at hotels, but this one is both delicious and efficient and gets you ready to take on the day. I would happily recommend a stay here to anyone visiting Mumbai, and would stay here again in a heartbeat

We didn’t stay in a room in the main bullying we were just across the road but still excellent location with a clean room. Breakfast was also very good and staff were very friendly and helpful

Walking distances to tourist destinations, train stations, & meeting spots for booked tours, the beautiful, friendly, professional, happy, attentive, helpful & kind staff. .. & loved the warm Welcome email I received prior to my arrival in India… & the included breakfast.

Just a few minor shortcomings in my room needing attention to give the sense of a perfect stay. Just a bit of upkeep/repairs to several surfaces would have topped off my stay.

Breakfast in the hotel was excellent to say the least. It had a huge variety of options, and great service. The location was at the heart of the colonial city: close to the classic landmarks, restaurants, the real and original Bombay of my childhood.

Wifi did not work in one of the rooms and it took a while for the hotel to fix it.

This was the best hotel of our entire India trip. From check-in to late check-out, everything was perfect. The rooms are a bit small but very well maintained and spotless. What really stands out, though, is the staff. From the receptionist Peter to the restaurant team, especially Keshar and Ballu, everyone is incredibly attentive. These two anticipate every wish-you feel like friends for a while, not just guests. The complimentary tea and coffee in the afternoon are also a lovely touch. Breakfast includes both Indian specialties and a wide selection of continental options, along with an excellent choice of drinks. The location is very central, and everything important is within walking distance. The hotel is easy to reach from the airport by metro, and tours of all kinds can be conveniently booked through the hotel. All in all, we can recommend it with all our hearts.

Really appreciate a welcoming drink on arrival. It is in a very convenient location to walk or catch local bus to Gateway of India and Marine Drive. It is walking distance to CSMT/Victoria Terminus. Its staff are very friendly and caring. We were offered excellent afternoon masala tea. We enjoyed a superb breakfast - freshly cooked dosa and omelette to your order and more.

Good for family and short stay. Staff was extremely cordial and very welcoming. Made us feel like home.

Room keys were not working most of the time. That was a bit of an issue, but the staff was always there to help with manual keys.

We had an amazing stay at Residency Hotel Fort - the best during our India trip. Hotel facilities are well maintained, spotlessly clean, with an excellent breakfast. We were also constantly supplied with water, tea and coffee in the lounge area (they have a professional espresso machine - great coffee!). The location is perfect - right next to the main attractions yet quite peaceful for Mumbai. But the best part is the team. Rajesh, Gopal, Kesal and the whole crew made us feel at home. Extremely friendly, helpful, accommodating and warm people - thank you so much for the great stay!

From start to finish the staff were so helpful and welcoming. They will do anything for you and are so warm and friendly. The hotel has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and provides a rest from the busy streets of Mumbai.

While my mumbai experience was not that pleasant due to food poisoning, the team at Residency was really great and provided excellent service!
