The warm welcome of staff, the immediate cool temp as we entered and the beautiful delicate aroma, the magnificence of the many atrium, the fresh flowers everywhere, the welcoming refreshing drink. We loved being able to have a relaxing swim in the beautiful outdoor pool.

When eating our Japanese meal at Wasabi, our conversation was drowned out and our eating not as relaxing as we’d hoped by the pumping disco music from downstairs.

Great restaurants, nice clean room and great location

No cosy bar. the hotel is large and very busy and that is not our preference in general.

Check in took too long. Taj Club access is not worthwile. Too few food and drink choices.More pastries. It is not like what we have been used to. Slow service.

From the start of the two night stay to the end nothing was too much trouble for the Staff - the hotel is immaculate from the entrance to the rooms on the top floor

On our checkout morning we didn’t get the full Sea Lounge breakfast experience due to a large demand at the time which was a pity - minor issue - we were offered and took the club room which just didn’t have the same range and views

Take the Heritage tour around the Hotel.Very informative tells you its history free if charge. Waw. Windows aren't opened if a little musty ask for an air conditioning unit and some jasmine. Booked a room overlooking the harbour.Amazing sunrise.Make use of the outdoor pool .Take on all the sights downstairs. Great show in the evening on the window displays overlooking the pool.Take a leisurely drink or meal in the garden Would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel.Amazing hospitality.A lasting memory. Everything was excellent

Didn't like how random people off the street were able to come into the hotel and walk about it to have a look at everything which made it very busy. There were people (not guests)who accessed the pool area to have a look while we were sitting relaxing. Some people did have lunch in that area, some even used the pool without being stopped. There is a sign that says area for hotel users only but it was just ignored and some people were just coming in to have a look which is very off putting. It needs more security to stop this from happening. It was a beautiful hotel but not as exclusive as it should be in this specific area.

Wifi in the room could be better. Waiting time at the breakfast restaurant could be enhanced by separating guests from Tower and Palace

The hotel offers excellent service and a wonderful colonial atmosphere, reminding of the rich history of this place. Especially the staff at Aquarius were wonderful, helping us to good seating and great service. A lady by the name of Sweetie stood out for her high level of professionality. A warm and large pool, free yoga classes in the morning and wonderful Club facilities.

What’s not to like about the Taj Palace? Accommodations and service over and beyond. Classic architecture, spacious and meticulously detailed rooms, scrupulously cleaned and maintained.

At breakfast, the espresso machine was out of service, creating havoc in the kitchen, with eggs arriving well after sausages and potatoes were cold.

It was very crowded at the breakfast, so we had to wait until there was a table available.

What did I like? Just about everything! I have travelled fairly well, but this is one of the best city hotel experiences I have have the privilege of visiting. It is a treat, and was nervous about the cost, but it was absolutely worth it. The nicest touch? Maybe the way all the staff spoke to me remembering my name, like I had stayed there for weeks, even though it was only a short stay. Also do make sure you take the daily guided tour of the history of the venue (I can't remember the guide's name, for shame, but ask at reception, it is superb!)

Nothing to add here - only to say that if you are doing a multi-location India trip, try to finish here, it really is the best of Indian hospitality.

WE WERE ROBBED, unfortunately. Despite all luxury in The Taj Mahal Palace, a warning to future guests to take their valuables with them. Large sum of money (13k €) was stolen from locked safe of our hotel room by their staff. Although we contacted hotel several times, they didn`t want to take responsibility and find the thief. Very bad first impression! Because of this we will never visit hotel again. We are big company, family owners, serious people, not thieves!

Fantastic! Every aspect of this hotel was impressive. My travels the world over have enabled me to experience some great hotels but Taj is way above all these. Staff was exceptional, food and facilities outstanding

Absolutely incredible stay. We were so wowed. We went for our honeymoon and they pulled out all the stops giving us a cake and decorating our room, as well as upgrading to a Sea view. Very impressed and highly recommend booking a Club room as you get a lot of benefits including free cocktails at the Taj Lounge during happy hour and depending if you book a chauffeur driven car to/from the airport one way which really was the icing on the cake. They also presented with us as we came in a beautiful traditional ritual, and these gorgeous scarves as a keepsake. We also got a leaving gift of these painted cards which was gorgeous. If you’re going for a special occasion definitely tell them, very responsive on the app and email.

I’d say try book on the Taj website as it’s a bit cheaper, but select your local currency as it didn’t seem to accept INR on my visa credit card. Also do not select full or half board, as it is only applicable at Shamina I believe and a set menu. Definitely either pick none or money towards your meal options. It may have previously been other restaurants because we booked and went to Souk in the tower and it was a bit embarrassing as we were not told a) they had stopped the meal options as it wasn’t relayed to the reception staff b) we had to go for a set menu which wasn’t great and way too much food. I felt the service at Souk was not great either maybe due to it being busy? But either way we felt very awkward about the whole interaction so just ended up going out in Mumbai for lunch and dinner ourselves locally the next day.

Beautiful old historic building with a lot of history. Stunning view over the sea.

Some of the service by the staff was not great. One of our rooms had a damp smell.

The welcome on arrival we were celebrating our anniversary so when we entered our room it was nicely decorated with balloons cake flowers fantastic everything went well wonderful stay

The immediate sense of grandeur and history. We had a very interesting and well presented tour around parts of the hotel, with a telling of the history of it's creation and developments

It is wonderful, but it hurts the pocket a bit.
