Abode Bombay Hotel, Mumbai

A lovely boutique hotel, well situated in Colaba. A great attention has been placed on each detail to make your sojourn pleasant. The rooms and the common area are tastefully decorated with antique furniture, collected over the years by the owner, a worldly gentleman. The general atmosphere seems to be a reflection from another era. Sadhana, the front desk manager, was very helpful and eager to make me feel at home from the moment I stepped in. The staff at breakfast is equally friendly and take great gare to anticipate and satisfy your needs. A little gem in a bustling city, nearby the Gateway of India.

The Abode delivered on it promise re. location, food, staff and wow factor. Don't be fooled by the modest somewhat industrial entrance as it leads into a beautiful roomy boutique hotel that feels luxurious. Room and Showers were amazing.

the Abode did warn us about the Mumbai noise and they were right but no worse than New York and reminds you that you are traveling and in one of the worlds most exciting cities.

Having just stayed in their newer property in Jaipur, this didnt quite live up the the expectations. However it is clean, comfortable, well located if you want to be in SoBo / Colaba. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is very good.

Our room had huge windows overlooking the road so noise and light in the early hours were both issues.

The location couldn’t be beat—we were able to walk to most of the attractions in the area. The staff were amazing and very helpful throughout our stay. We booked the cheapest rate, which came with a shared toilet, though the shower was in the room. We didn’t mind this at all, nor the low beams. The staff were kind enough to give us room options with only one low beam instead of two, as my boyfriend is over 6 feet tall. He did bump his head a few times during our stay. Breakfast was exceptional!

What was a bit of a shame was that there was no window or exhaust fan, which made the room feel stuffy. The air conditioner also blew a slightly dusty smell, making sleep a bit uncomfortable.

Ethical and cool hotel

We stayed in the budget room and it exceeded expectations - the shower in the room was clean and the shared bathroom was spotless and we did not come across other users. The lack of a window is not an issue and it was quiet during our stay. There was a low beam in the room which was very well padded and added to the cosy vibe. Very good location and excellent half day tour booked through the front desk. Delicious breakfast and wonderful smiling staff! Would highly recommended

It has charm. It has a communal feeling, like a youth hostel for grown ups. The service team, particularly the front of house, were warm and helpful. The breakfasts were terrific. The location is great for Colaba and its highlights.

We wrestled a bit with the aircon in the room. It worked well, but it was loud and we couldn’t seem to adjust the fan speed to reduce the noise. A normal fan in the room would have helped.

The location and the staff were exceptional. The boutique hotel was very quaint and charming.

The location, the decor, the staff, the vibe was all 100%. This is the perfect base to explore Mumbai, everything is walking distance.

The only downside (which is completely outside of the hotels control), is the street noise outside. Abode do their best to mitigate this by providing ear plugs, eye mask etc.

Loved everything about it- the location was 10/10, excellent simple breakfast and really lovely and helpful staff who were very approachable. Would definitely recommend.

Bathroom, particularly shower, was very compact. Though didn’t really impact how we felt about the stay!

Colaba is close to many attractions of Mumbai. The hotel is a great space in the heaving humid city. Excellent breakfast, clean comfortable beds and rooms with great little touches. They welcomed us back for breakfast when we had checked out as our train was rescheduled by 3 hours. It’s our second time staying there…

This is authentic Bombay heritage. The room was clean and well equipped, the staff were delightful, and the atmosphere very intimate and inviting. The location was perfect. Would definitely recommend if you dont like staying in corporate glass boxes.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Mumbai. From the outside it doesn’t look very renovated, but once inside it’s definitely a lovely small hotel. The staff is extremely kind and welcoming, the breakfast is very good, and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Overall a great stay and highly recommended.

Breakfast was too bland which had too little options and was cooked according to the taste palette of foreigners.

I liked everything about the room; it was clean and tidy. The room was turned down every day; it was a nice touch to have earplugs and an eye mask each. I will be back in the future. Thank you for the perfect 2-night stay.

I loved this place - previously in Mumbai stayed at the Taj Palace which as great but preferred the Abode for the vibe and generosity of the people.

Very comfortable hotel with comfy beds, a warm shower, a convenient location, helpful staff, and very clean toilets.

The toilets are not attached to the rooms, so you need to walk through the hallway at night to use them. There is also no natural daylight throughout the hotel. However, we were aware of both of these aspects in advance, as the hotel communicates this very transparently.

Subko cacao was very nice, especially the factory nearby. The staff were extremely accommodating, making me a fresh chai in the early hours due to jet lag. Nice design throughout the hotel, would stay again

The room I stayed in was very humid, theres a slight damp smell , probably due to how old it is. Bathroom Matts needs to be changed.

I really enjoyed the antique coziness and the hospitality of this place. Especially the sweet catering of the receptionist Ashwini dispelled the tension of my first visit to Bombay. The complimentary breakfast was lovely as well - they adopt a more healthy way of cooking such as upma made of oat. The must-see Gateway of India is walking distance away which is great too. This is a place for sheer relaxation. 讚！

Nothing much to dislike, everything was fine. Just the place is in an antique building, it might not be that spacious, yet didn't affect the experience that much

The driver for the airport pickup and drop off was not very friendly. The language barrier was obviously one of the causes, but a smile would have been welcomed.

Great boutique hotel in an ideal location to explore old Mumbai. The staff were extremely friendly throughout and the breakfast in the cafe was excellent.

Nothing - though it is worth noting that the room setup won't be for everyone, with a shared toilet and some low beams. But it was fine for me and the hotel has done an impressive job to make the rooms feel cozy and welcoming despite these factors. The price and location also offset this in my opinion.

A charming boutique hotel, very well located in Colaba. The staff were incredibly helpful, offering personalised advice for our visit (including great tips for finding wedding outfits). The breakfast was excellent, varied and made with great ingredients. Many major sights are within walking distance, which makes exploring Mumbai very easy. Highly recommended.

Breakfast is very hectic. They should offer in room breakfast, at least for the larger suits on the 4th floor. Or the more expensive rooms.

The ambience is very warm and chilled . It’s cosy and feels like home .. the lobby area . The staff was genuinely helpful . The breakfast was interesting everyday ( would have liked a bit more spice) but good home type breakfast .

What really stood out at Abode was the attention to detail and the quality of the staff. We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms (shared toilet, low ceiling) but what could have been a 'budget' experience was turned around with all the thoughtful touches in room, the overall vibe of the place, the fact everyone working there was amazing and the delicious breakfast. Would 100% return.

Room had a weird smell, but you only noticed it for the first few minutes.

The location is excellent, the staff is very helpful and the place is Good value for money. The receptionist...Mr. Nilesh and Mr. Ganesh were knowledgeable and helpful.
