Great boutique hotel in an ideal location to explore old Mumbai. The staff were extremely friendly throughout and the breakfast in the cafe was excellent.

Nothing - though it is worth noting that the room setup won't be for everyone, with a shared toilet and some low beams. But it was fine for me and the hotel has done an impressive job to make the rooms feel cozy and welcoming despite these factors. The price and location also offset this in my opinion.

A charming boutique hotel, very well located in Colaba. The staff were incredibly helpful, offering personalised advice for our visit (including great tips for finding wedding outfits). The breakfast was excellent, varied and made with great ingredients. Many major sights are within walking distance, which makes exploring Mumbai very easy. Highly recommended.

Breakfast is very hectic. They should offer in room breakfast, at least for the larger suits on the 4th floor. Or the more expensive rooms.

The ambience is very warm and chilled . It’s cosy and feels like home .. the lobby area . The staff was genuinely helpful . The breakfast was interesting everyday ( would have liked a bit more spice) but good home type breakfast .

What really stood out at Abode was the attention to detail and the quality of the staff. We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms (shared toilet, low ceiling) but what could have been a 'budget' experience was turned around with all the thoughtful touches in room, the overall vibe of the place, the fact everyone working there was amazing and the delicious breakfast. Would 100% return.

Room had a weird smell, but you only noticed it for the first few minutes.

The location is excellent, the staff is very helpful and the place is Good value for money. The receptionist...Mr. Nilesh and Mr. Ganesh were knowledgeable and helpful.

The bathroom geyser could be better.

Our suite with the bath tub was excellent, large room with comfortable bed and sofa. The bath room was very spacious. The reception and breakfast area small but cozy. Your breakfast is made to order, the sourdough bread is freshly made every day. All staff were very helpful and kind. The location is excellent, you can see the Taj Palace from our window.

The wifi on the fourth floor is a bit shaky but it didn’t bother us

The rooms, ambience and everything in the room provided was very authentic, I liked the room and the location near to the gateway of India and Taj was beautiful!

A perfect welcome, many suggestions for outings were offered. A great place to stay, well-located for the city center and Gateway of India. The bed was very comfty and the bed linen soft, barely in storage, but with impeccable service.

This is a very good hotel with pleasant and friendly staff! The breakfast was delicious. The room was clean, as was the linen. I stayed in a room without a private bathroom, but it wasn’t really an inconvenience. The hotel is located right next to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the Gateway of India, and the famous Leopold Café is also nearby.

First of all, this was the best hotel we stayed in during our entire trip to India. Not because of the furniture and accessories but because of the immensely friendly and helpful staff which always had a smile on their face when approaching you and were always there when we had a question or for a nice talk. We had a window and our own shower in our room. Both things we didn't expect and lifted our mood immediately. The breakfast did vary from day to day and was always of high quality and home made. We loved to try everything and were always looking forward to our next breakfast. In general, it was very nice staying there and hard to leave.

The building is very old and we didn't have a toilet within the room (since it was mentioned during booking, it is not a minus criteria). Since the hotel is directly located on a main street, it is quite noisy also during the night, since we had a window, which didn't close properly. The shower is also very old and due to the high humidity some mold is visible. Additionally, our mirror suddenly came down during one night.

The location of the place is amazing. Staff are courteous. Their sourdough for breakfast was delicious (we had with scrambled eggs). We stayed in 401. It has a cozy feeling and is wood paneled which made it special.

Parking isn't provided. Other than that the stay was wonderful.

We absolutely loved Adobe. The location is right in the heart of Mumbai, just steps from the Gateway of India and Taj. Piles of great restaurants outside the door and a nice stroll to many of the tourist sites. The team working at the hotel were all very helpful and made sure we had every need covered. Breakfast was tasty each morning, fresh fruit, Indian dishes, yogurt, eggs to order. They use reverse osmosis for the drinking water, so no issues there, no need to buy bottled water as we always had a full pitcher in the room. The rooms are very cute, local art, good window coverings. The bed is comfy and tons of hot water in the shower. If this one is in your budget, book it, you will not regret it!

Fabulous staff, fabulous location, great charming feel, excellent breakfast. Love the NGO support and waste free ethics. We had a room on the street which was great to watch Mumbai life.

Very original place, great decoration, great details in everything from the breakfast to the services they provide like massages etc. The location couldn't be better near the Gate of India. The staff is really nice and helpful.

The main seating and eating area is gorgeous. I loved the location and the old building.

Location is unmatched if you want to explore South Mumbai or visit museums and galleries. Most venues are walkable. The cafe on the first floor (where they also serve breakfast) is an ideal place to work, read or catch a breather. The team is very friendly and responsive. Laundry is not very expensive and gets returned in a day, if you need help on that front. The area is a real treasure for foodies - Bademiya, Baghdadi, Dilli Durbar (Indian food), Cafe Mondegaar, Mag Street, Smoke House Deli, The Table - to name a few; plus a little further at Kala Ghoda - The Kala Ghoda Cafe, Knead, Trishna, Faham, etc.

The location was amazing and rooms were clean and decorated well. The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly.

If you are tall be aware that the ceilings in the room & bathroom were low.

Hot water wasn’t working during my stay, which was quite inconvenient. I feel the overall stay price can be reduced for one night stay.

It was a reasonable boutique hotel, trying very hard to please. Not a top 5 star but a true gem. It is everything you could ask for at a very reasonable price

An excellent place to stay with or without family. Recommend it highly.

It's dense and ventilation is a challenge in the historic building located close to the sea. From someone super sensitive to smells, Abode is a bit dense if you are the sorts pick up allergies even with perfumes, flowers and agarbattis. You can request for dehumidifier (we did) and air purifier (probably) and i'm sure the staff will be happy to help. Overall, a super place.

Well situated hotel with a great team. Room was simple but we'll thought out and very clean. Breakfast was tasty with variety. Nice touch to provide a mobile phone that could be used to contact the hotel in an emergency.

We loved our stay at Abode Bombay. The staff were so attentive and friendly, they made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The location is perfect as it's close to the museums, Taj hotel and Gate of India as well as lots of great bars and restaurants. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed, they even provided extras like eyemasks and robes. The breakfast was wonderful with a different selection of Indian foods every day alongside toast and eggs.

The boutique hotel has a vintage vibe. I love coffee and their lobby had a Subko coffee area which was so unique. Location was outstanding, 2 mins walk to the gateway of India, Taj and many famous places are just at a walking distance. You don’t need a cab. Kala Ghoda is also at a walking distance if the weather is nice.

Sometimes there is a lot of outside noise, as the hotel is right on the road.

I had a wonderful time at Abode. Everything was smooth, welcoming and so thoughtfully arranged. The team was genuinely lovely and helpful throughout, especially one team member who went above and beyond with her thoughtful recommendations and made sure I felt safe and taken care of. We didn’t have much time in Mumbai, and one of the highlights of our stay was the experiences Abode offered. We did the early morning market tour, the Dharavi slum tour, and the food tour and can genuinely recommend all three. They gave us such a meaningful glimpse into the city in a short amount of time. Abode strikes that rare balance of being warm, personal and professionally run. If you’re visiting Mumbai and want a place where you’ll feel truly cared for you should definitely stay here. Thank you to the entire team for making this trip so memorable!

I had a wonderful experience staying at the abode, which is conveniently located close to all the historical attractions, making it easy to explore the area. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The place itself is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering a pleasant stay. I particularly enjoyed the complimentary meditation classes, which were a delightful and rejuvenating addition to my visit.

Maybe a little mildewy but it’s an old building in a country w monsoon season. All the hotels in India have a mildew smell- even the 5 star ones.
