Beautiful historic hotel with amazing suites. The reception staff and concierges are very friendly, professional and sweet. For example, we had a bit of an unpleasant experience at the rooftop restaurant. When we voices our concerns the staff took us very serious and really appreciated that. Recommend anyone staying here as you are very close to multiple amazing museums in CDMX, lovely food and a one-of-a-kind hotel. Looking forward to come back one day!

Minor thing during check-in was that the room was not ready at check-in time which was a bit inconvenient because of a reservation we had at a museum later. This could be maybe resolved if the hotel would asks guests what time they plan to arrive and if there is anything special they need to be aware of. The front desk was pushing for the room to be ready and we made our reservation. So no biggie. Good thing to be aware of is to know the area is very busy. So plan accordingly with cabs and such. One small thing which didn’t bother us at all, but just stating it here for the hotel. We booked a one kingsize bed but got two separate beds. We fit in one, so no problem but others might find it inconvenient.

Heritage property at the historic centre. Lobby is grand. Terrazza restaurant has great views. Food is great.

The location right on the main square the Zócalo. Lovely roof top breakfast buffet overlooking the square. Great choice of food. The Tiffany glass roof. Staff were friendly and helpful and the Concierge was great and recommended places to see and two great restaurants.

Absolutely beautiful property, each member of the staff offered exceptional service with a smile, the guest room accommodations were very clean, the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, the bed linens were high quality, spacious closets, spacious bedroom & spacious bathroom … oh and the TV size is HUGE (we watch morning news while getting ready). We were greeted with champagne at check in, given a welcome treat in our guest room of delicious chocolates with personalized writing on the plate. What a beautiful presentation. Also they gave us complimentary wine in our room and a welcome note card and called to make sure everything was okay and if we needed anything. WE WERE TREATED LIKE ROYALTY. Wow. The experience of staying here was the best ever. We will always remember it. It brings a smile to my face! LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THE HOTEL…ESPECIALLY THE STAFF

Excellent location, looking into the plaza Zocalo. Floor to ceiling windows which open up. Automatic shades, which are very nice with an electric fireplace for great atmosphere. Room was good size and that was very comfortable. Hotel was very iconic with one of the oldest elevators, which is very ornate. Circular stairway, which takes you back to an era gone by. Many people stop in just to take pictures of the lobby,which is beautifully decorated. The ceiling is all stained glass in a dome shape.. must be admired during the day for the full effects. Doorman with a red coat and hat. There is a chairlift if necessary because you must climb a few stairs to get up to the main lobby. Wonderful breakfast with omelette station, lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese , breads, beef and chicken, Mexican specialties….buffet style, located on the terrace looking out to the Zocalo. There’s always lots of action in the plaza and can be a bit noisy at night but all the noise does stop between 10 and 11 pm…

Noisy in evening… And if there’s a festival going on, can be noisy in the morning…

We had a spacious room with a lovely view of the Zocalo. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We were greeted with champagne, a delicous chocolate dessert and wine for our room. The hotel itself is majestically beautiful with amazing Tiffany stained glass and wrought iron architecture. It is unequalled.

Beautiful building, inside and outside, spacious rooms, junior suite with a fireplace. The old style clothes for porters really felt like you were back in the 19th century. Welcome cocktail.

Wonderful staff, very attentive to the needs of their guests. Taxi service on site, dining on the Terrace restaurant was superb with best view in all the Zócalo.

The room overlooking the plaza was unbelievably noisy because there were mariachi bands and public speeches The only time it was quiet was midnight to 5 am I would definitely have liked an inner room if I’d known t would be so noisy!

The hotel is beautiful and used to be a store in the past. Right in the centre of the city. All historical sites within walking distance. Big and comfortable rooms. Very clean. The staff is very friendly and does give you great service. The terrace on the top floor has a spectacular view. Food is good to excellent. Do try the home made guacamole!

Huge Room looking over side street next to the Plaza. A lot of history behind the hotel with its grand stained glass ceiling and one of the first elevators in Mexico. Streets are very clean and tidy around the Plaza. Staff were fabulous.

The staff was amazing! They went above & beyond to help us with our booking (front desk Cynthia & Rosa) & Abraham at the front door). The hotel was beautiful & comfortable. The staff really made the stay perfect.

Some wall paper near the sink in the bathroom needed repairing. More hangers in the closet.

Beautiful location, outstanding views, exceptional staff who went out of their way to help us. The hotel was close to many places we wanted to see (metropolitan cathedral, presidential palace, Temple Mayor, & a great walking area (5 De Mayo) which lead to the tile palace/Sanborns & Palace of Fine Arts.

As always, the breakfast on the rooftop, and the friendliness of the staff made our experience wonderful. This was our 4th visiting GranHotel.

There was soap dispensers for the bathtub but none in the shower and you cannot move them.

With your stay, they have a huge area where you can have great snacks 24/7 with huge windows. You can relax and see all the activities to the Zocalo and see all the people walking in the streets. WOW, you just sit down in front of any windows and relax. I'm just seeing all the action that is happening in front of me. Who needs tv when you have this beautiful view!! Another great thing is that they receive you with champagne and departure with some mexican candles. The hotel is spectacular!!

I don't have a dislike.

Location and view were excellent. Cynthia at reception made my check in and request for early laundry service so easy. Cynthia is a 10/10 for service.

The restaurant was not quite up to standard

Breakfast was really good and so was the dinner we had at Terraza the night we arrived. The view of the Zocalo from the restaurant is great.

We wish we had stayed longer.

I confirmed in writing before our trip that my friends would have a view of the Zocalo. It was confirmed in writing. However, when we got to the hotel, we were told that there wasn't a room with such a view available. (A woman who had just checked in had the same problem!) I showed the man at the front desk that I had an email confirming the room would have a Zocalo view, but I learned that the communication confirming the view was from booking.com, not the hotel (contrary to the communication, which said it was from "the property"). It started our stay with a lot of frustration and disappointment. Booking.com's conduct in this created disagreement and an argument between us and the hotel, when, in fact, it appears to have the fault of Booking.com. The hotel should bring this to the attention of Booking.com because the way this was handled reflected poorly on the hotel initially when it doesn't appear it was at fault. I also tried to change my reservation so I could leave a day early. That wasn't possible, I was told, unless it was worked out with Booking.com. I wrote a message to Booking.com, but no one ever responded. I would NEVER used Booking.com again. I'll make the reservation directly with the hotel in the future. I was told that if I had made the reservation directly with the hotel, the accommodation with my reservation could have been made.

The location was perfect, walking distance to so many stores, restaurants, pharmacies and museums.

I upgraded my booking to a room with a Zocalo view but was told that there is none available when I checked in. It was only the next day that a smaller one with a “partial Zocalo view was available.

I like so many things about the property. I also like that the property has professional driver. One driver in particular that we rode frequently was Flavio. He was professional and with a sense of humor.

Location is excellent. Beautiful old hotel with all modern updates walking distance to so many things. Excellent staff.

You can no longer take cars into the area of 16 of September road so schlepping your luggage in the dark 1/2 a block or so It would be nice if you could call the hotel upon arrival and they could send a bellman or something. Also no elevators at the main entrance. My biggest annoyance was the nightly buskers beneath my window on 16 of September ave. Since the area is only open to foot traffic and is super popular and busy there are a variety of hustlers. The karaoke performances end about 10 pm nightly. That being said it is a super safe are with multitudes of police as it is adjacent to the presidential residence. The advantage of being right on the zocalo outweighs the disadvantage of the noise.
