The Central Station Hotel, Memphis

It was unique and had a cool listening lounge.

One of the reasons we chose this location is not being familiar with Memphis, we were uncomfortable venturing out at night for dinner so we wanted a restaurant on site. However, upon attempting to locate the restaurant we were notified it was closed for restoration. This is something the website should have noted. Also, the bar had a DJ which was fun while at the bar. However, even on the third floor, we could hear the bass so loudly in our room it prevented us from sleeping.

I like the sitting and bar areas.

The ceiling in the room was unfinished, everything I touched was dusty. The window sills, the area where the TV was , bathroom floor was dirty, the shower had hair on floor. I wanted to like the hotel but the housekeeping was la cking and missing in some areas. Maybe it was because the room was a discount deal, evenso they should have been clean.

Left too early for breakfast--the train left at 645am. Quiet and pleasant, as before.

Breakfast was very nice, with excellent service from Derika. VERY convenient to the train station! Huge plus!!

Lovely hotel, beautiful building. We had dinner and cocktails in the restaurant which were beautiful. Location was great for site seeing. I'd definitely recommend to a friend.

The Bishop restaurant was outstanding. This was a very comfortable and clean hotel. Very nice rooms.

Beautifully curated hotel - excellent taste in interior design. Fantastic attention to detail (room key holder was a notebook with information on the property, the city etc), excellent bar, lounge room, DJ and what excellent idea the music in the room was! Outstanding accoustics, very comfy stay and excellent location!

Great location for waking to downtown area and Beale Street. Close to several places to eat, especially places to get coffee. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Only complaints...TV didn't work great, cable kept going out. The refrigerator in the room wasn't plugged in, and when I looked, there was no where to plug it in, all the plugs were being used. Room was really small for two, seemed better suited for one person. They gave us a corner room and all we could see was the wall of the building next to us. I booked pretty far in advance, hotel didn't seem crowded, would have been nice to have a better view.

Loved that it was an old train station and they have kept the theme. So many fun little details that were greatly appreciated. Loved all the history right outside our window.

The saving grace for this hotel was the fantastic location and easy parking. The building itself was beautiful, and the lobby, bar and restaurant were very elegant. Unfortunately once you left the elevator to the rooms, it was a different story alltogether...

For the price and from the photos online, our expectations were quite high. Entering the lobby, things looked great. But upon checking in, the employee was more interested in vibing to the extremely loud music from the bar, than giving us any information about the rooms, breakfast or anything really, we had to ask him ourselves, and he even ended up giving us the wrong times for breakfast, and neglected to give us our breakfast vouchers (more on this later). After a long day of travelling we finally made it to our rooms, obviously the place had been "stylishly" renovated a few years ago, but it looked as though the rooms had suffered through a few party guests with broken speakers, dirt in the corner of the carpets, and some grime in the corner of the shower. This was more or less of the trend for this hotel, first impressions "wow", but when you looked closer, everything was a bit run down. The kingsize room was tiny, but as we were here for business it didn't really matter. But the absolute worst thing was the heating and airconditioning... The rooms must have been old offices with high ceilings previously, as their solution to adding heating and air conditioning was simply to add huge vents above the bed, which, when activated by the thermostat, caused the entire room to shake as if a train was passing directly overhead. This caused a few sleepless nights, until i was forced to use earplugs. For nearly $300 a night, this is unacceptable. Tip: Skip the breakfast option on booking.com Breakfast is only available from a menu in the restaurant downstairs. Although the quality was very good, it was very pricey, and the $25 Voucher (which we eventually got from another receptionist) barely covered the bill, and then tips had to be paid extra. Out of 8 Nights, we were only able to have breakfast 3 times.

The location was great, parking easy and nice things to walk to nearby. We loved the lobby area and bar and the DJ and music playing through the amazing sound system was great. Also enjoyed all the high quality art displayed in the public areas and rooms.

Our room was a little on the small side.

This is a superb hotel. The location feels a bit rundown and there's not too much close by, but the trolley runs straight to downtown and is a bonus. While the location is a bit shabby (but we never felt threatened, even when out very late) the hotel itself is a real gem. The rooms are quite small, but neat and very clean, the bar is wonderful and the attached restaurant top notch. Best of all, the train pulls up right outside - what a sight.

As I said, the room we had was pretty small, but functional, and, as tourists, we only went back to sleep.

Beautiful renovation with so many options for food/drink within walking distance. loved the parking option as well. bed was very comfortable and the shower was great.

Price point is a little bit more than what we got. Service was also not that great. Most we encountered were indifferent and flat with no hint of friendliness. they seemed annoyed by us.

The location was awesome, and the decor was amazing. The room was clean and the piped in music was a "nice to have".

The only concern we had was we were given incorrect information on the hours that the tram ran to Beale Street and it would've been nice if there were a breakfast option. Also the air conditioning was CRANKED in the lounge on the night that we arrived. It was totally uncomfortable.

Great location in an up and coming area of downtown. The hotel is a fantastic adaptive reuse of a historic railway station and extremely well done. The bar scene was very nice and the music (by DJ) was very good.

The AC was extremely loud at night when it came on periodically. I'm not sure if it was just our room or if all rooms experienced the same problems. Water pressure in the bathroom sink was pretty low; however, we informed the front desk and they resolved very quickly.

our main issue was check-in. our room wasn’t ready until 4. the only other complaint was the lobby by the bar was so cold, we couldn’t even stand to sit in there. otherwise, we loved staying here.

Very cool place, interesting location. The room was quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was wonderful, large, clean, nice shower. Bishop's restaurant downstairs has great food. The bar is super chill.

The room was small, with no coffee maker, table, pretty much a bed and side table. There was no coffee or breakfast available. The bar is expensive.

my only complaint with the property was that it was poorly lit in the hallways and in our room. Our room had two big windows that during the daytime let in plenty of light but at night, we only had two beside lights to turn on. It was just unnecessary dark.

Location was good. Did not have breakfast. Did enjoy the bar area, maybe it could open before 4 p.m. sharp. Bartenders were attentive and good. We did have an appetizer. very tasty !

The room itself was a bit warm. Would have liked to have had a ceiling fan in our room. Also thought it was a bit tacky for the cleaning staff to leave a note asking for a tip ?

Location off the train

How the hotel treats the station, that it is giving off of, like a scab. no connection to the actual station, thinking Denver Union Station. You can see how it treats train travelers as second class to their hotels vibe. It was sad.

I really liked the decor and the location of the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the restaurant was delicious.

The rooms were a bit small. Also, I asked to have my room serviced after 11a, I was given towels but couldn’t get my bed serviced.

Very tiny complaint that there was not enough light in our room. The windows are fantastic but it was overcast. Maybe a floor lamp or two? But otherwise awesome!

The restaurant at the hotel was amazing for all meals! The hotel was within walking distance to many restaurants as well as Beale Street.

There were 4 or us and only 3 towels and we only got one visit from housekeeping for a 3 night stay.

The atmosphere was great! The staff was so friendly at check-in, the bar, and the Bishop restaurant!

The heater made a loud noise and they offered to have someone come fix it. We just turned it down a little and it stopped

Rooms: quirky retrofit of a former train station - rooms on level 2B are especially interesting as they are pieces of the upper lobby Restaurant: French restaurant on first floor is outstanding but you will need reservations- the secret is out Lobby Lounge - is a tasteful redo of a former train station hall; on weekends all of Memphis is there to mix in peace, love, & fine threads. tough to overdress here

parking is not free & valet parking is part time. a car parked on Saturday night by valet is a treasure hunt by owner on Sunday morning

Great location close to the downtown shops and local restaurants.

The lobby area is super inviting and has a great sitting area to relax with friends and family. The bar staff provided a great service as they was always checking to make sure we were comfortable and our drinks were replenished.

The water in the shower didn't get hot. And when I asked for clean towels I didn't receive them.
