Incredible dining room, food was excellent and perfect location

The smell as soon as I walked in was amazing and the complimentary glass of champagne on arrival was a lovely touch. Staff were very friendly. The rooms were spacious.

I think the only disappointment was the fact we didn’t get a bath however, this was a fault of ours for not enquiring about this beforehand. Good location but bit of walk from the car park we chose.

Nigel the concierge was fantastic, very professional, friendly and courteous.

Didn't eat at hotel, but we stayed for a special celebration. The key part was the welcome upon entering the hotel, the touch of class with a glass of champagne and the explanation from Nigel whilst offering champagne and sharing his knowledge of the history of the hotel was class. that set the tone ..

nothing to be honest. We arrived on a Monday so the cocktail and grill bistro were quiet and the cocktail bar was closed, so on our next visit we will stay over the weekend.

We stayed here after our wedding day. They upgraded our room when we arrived as noticed we just been married and gave us a nice little note and congratulations written in chocolate. Nigel the butter what an absolute gentleman he wqs and can have some banter to loved him and all the staff. Even at breakfast they couldn't be faulted made then end to our wedding even more memorable

We loved the overall decor of the hotel, decadent yet modern. The staff were incredibly helpful, and professional. Great food and drinks, especially loved the cocktails. We came to celebrate my partner’s birthday along with a couple of friends who also stayed at the hotel. Even as we left the next morning, somewhat fragile from too much alcohol consumption, our car was brought to us with accompanying bottles of water for our drive home! Much needed hydration and excellent service!

The bedroom and bathroom were huge and very clean. The room was equipped with everything you would need for a one night stay and the bathroom had underfloor heating which was a nice surprise. We slept well as a result of a very comfortable bed, pillows etc., and there is no noise pollution from other rooms or from outside the hotel. The hotel is well located and the building has a lot of history and character. Very charming. Would stay here again when in Manchester.

Breakfast in the morning was very expensive and I'm unsure if the quality / portion size reflected how much we were charged.

Difficult to get to by car

Beautiful room, lovely shower. Gorgeous food.

Very poor wifi, kept cutting out, would have been fine if mobile reception was okay but it’s I a bit of a dead zone. I had to ring the hotel from an outside line to order room service at about 7pm as the room service line had a “our restaurant reversion. Line is closed, please call back” message. Would be 10/10 if they fixed the above.

The staff were very helpful especially Nigel, who was friendly and welcoming and very wise, due to his extensive experience in hospitality. Tender restaurant was excellent and Sterling bar downstairs had a large selection of cocktails to choose from.

It was a little noisy at night, due to its central location.

This is a centrally located hotel but in narrow streets, as you’d expect for the price it is very clean and the rooms are large, comfortable and well appointed. The concierge staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was first rate- probably one of the best I’ve had in any hotel.

Parking is restricted so I used the valet option which is expensive but this is just a niggle.

Wonderful welcome, and a glass of champagne. A beautiful room, spotlessly clean & with all the facilities you need (and some we should have but we didn’t like a yoga mat!!). In a great central city location. With a lovely bar in the stunningly restored trading floor & not silly drinks prices.

We were on the first floor & there was just a little road noise first thing in the morning but what do you expect in such a centrally located hotel

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed. Everything about this hotel is stunning. Most importantly, the staff. There is one particular member who stood out from our visit on June 24 and February 25 - Deepak. He is such a treasure and asset to the company. He remembers such small details, which is remarkable considering the number of guests that stay! He always has a smile on his face, and it's just such a pleasure to talk to. The owners of this hotel need to look after him for sure! Thank you for making our stay a joy.

Staff were lovely. Great location. Complimentary champagne on arrival. Bed was very big. Lovely breakfast.

Not enough room in the shower in the room we selected. Pretty hard to not get your hair wet. Didn't find the pillows as comfortable as I expected, they didn't feel supportive of my neck and shoulders. Carpets in and around the hotel need a clean, especially outside our room. Iron in the room wasn't the best. Prices of snacks/mini bar were high. I would have expected the snacks at least to be free of charge due to price of the room. Stayed as a gift for my husbands birthday so expected a bit more of a welcome. The complimentary champagne was lovely but I believe this is what everyone gets. Would have been nice to have an extra glass or some form of extra without having to pay additional (for example room decroations/flowers).

This is my second stay and it’s my favourite hotel in Manchester. Best location, fantastic staff and lovely hotel. Rooms are lovely and spacious. Great amenities. It feels exclusive and definitely 5* !

The room on my first stay was a lot nicer than the second, this time the room felt slightly tatty in places. But that is the only thing that could’ve been improved slightly.

Wonderful hotel, set in the old stock exchange. Every effort has been made to retain the original features and it has sympathetically been converted to an amazing hotel. You are greeted with a glass of champagne on arrive, and literally nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Our room was amazing with a wonderful rain shower and the bed was so comfortable, we slept really well. Breakfast in the restaurant was superb, my only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!

Lack of a traditional bar/lounge area. Disappointing ‘sharing’ menu in the restaurant - certainly not any use for a vegetarian & a carnivore dining together.

There could have been more choice at breakfast. Lots of fancy dishes but not enough traditional fare eg.Omelettes, boiled eggs, more choice of items on toast, different breads,fruit yoghurts,.

Restaurant taking hiatus for dinner

The staff were superb and couldn't do enough for you. They were so friendly and helpful. The welcome drink on arrival was very welcome indeed! The breakfast was superb and of very high quality - the best breakfast we have had in a hotel! The 'Jo Loves' toiletries in the bathroom were lovely also.

I felt the room was very small and the mattress was hard and sloping down towards your head which was annoying. I expected the bed to be really comfortable but was disappointed. The climate control pad in the room was complicated and you couldn't seem to alter the temperature or just simply turn it off! The control pad stay lit all night which affected sleep. Both myself and my husband hardly slept. Also, we stayed on a Monday evening and the hotel bar was closed which was disappointing. I have never stayed at a 5 star hotel before where you are unable to visit the bar no matter what night you stay. As this was an expensive hotel to stay at, it is only for these reasons that we have marked it down from excellent.

A lovely welcome by the staff who were very helpful and friendly. The room layout and facilities were superb. The location was excellent for the main shopping areas.

A slight bugbear was that the maximum temperature of water is set far too low, meaning it was impossible to have a bath that was hot enough. I also felt that the mini-bar prices were too high by far.

Spotless adequately equipped rooms. Warm and friendly staff who seemed genuine in wanting you to have the best time in the hotel and Manchester. I liked being told about the history of the hotel. I definitely would go back!

Welcome glass of champagne with flexibility when you have it. Helpful staff & very clean & well serviced room. I was concerned initially that it’s now a Marriott & that it might not be as good but it was just the same.

If you don’t like noise you’d have to ask for a quiet room as there’s street noise and what sounded like a generator at the front as it’s in the town centre.
