Restaurant taking hiatus for dinner

The staff were superb and couldn't do enough for you. They were so friendly and helpful. The welcome drink on arrival was very welcome indeed! The breakfast was superb and of very high quality - the best breakfast we have had in a hotel! The 'Jo Loves' toiletries in the bathroom were lovely also.

I felt the room was very small and the mattress was hard and sloping down towards your head which was annoying. I expected the bed to be really comfortable but was disappointed. The climate control pad in the room was complicated and you couldn't seem to alter the temperature or just simply turn it off! The control pad stay lit all night which affected sleep. Both myself and my husband hardly slept. Also, we stayed on a Monday evening and the hotel bar was closed which was disappointing. I have never stayed at a 5 star hotel before where you are unable to visit the bar no matter what night you stay. As this was an expensive hotel to stay at, it is only for these reasons that we have marked it down from excellent.

A lovely welcome by the staff who were very helpful and friendly. The room layout and facilities were superb. The location was excellent for the main shopping areas.

A slight bugbear was that the maximum temperature of water is set far too low, meaning it was impossible to have a bath that was hot enough. I also felt that the mini-bar prices were too high by far.

Spotless adequately equipped rooms. Warm and friendly staff who seemed genuine in wanting you to have the best time in the hotel and Manchester. I liked being told about the history of the hotel. I definitely would go back!

Welcome glass of champagne with flexibility when you have it. Helpful staff & very clean & well serviced room. I was concerned initially that it’s now a Marriott & that it might not be as good but it was just the same.

If you don’t like noise you’d have to ask for a quiet room as there’s street noise and what sounded like a generator at the front as it’s in the town centre.

Very spacious & clean. It had a lovely aroma on entry. staff were exceptional, couldn’t fault anything.

The WiFi in the room seemed to work only if the TV was on. This stops you browsing in the middle of the night.

Everything. The service from the minute you arrive is second to none, the staff cannot do enough for you. The breakfast and evening meal was fantastic and would go simply to have a meal in the restaurant. The rooms are beautiful and so relaxing that you would not think you were in the centre of Manchester.

Great location.Nice touch of welcome drink, past years also ga e you a mince pie with drink which was a lovely touch.No mince pie this year I did tell staff.

Restaurant was closed. Disappointing for December. We were in room 307 & the noise from a generator type appliance outside ran all night. Hardly slept. Beautiful establishment, just not so great this time.

Absolutely loved the interior design details. The welcome glass of champagne set the right tone on arrival! Our bedroom was spotless - great house keeping. Lovely staff.

The hotel was very well presented, and the fragrant smell within the lobby was a nice touch. The blackout blinds in our room were fantastic, and the bed was soooo comfy

We came for a wedding anniversary for 30 years and they made us feel very special .We had champagne on arrival and was told that we had been upgraded what a surprise.The hotel is beautiful and to the highest standard the room was amazing and had everything you can imagine.The location was also great near every thing.what a wonderful memory for us staying here

The building is beautiful, the attention to detail exceptional, the location perfect and the staff so so lovely; very friendly, attentive; the service is some of the best I’ve had at a hotel. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious. Would definitely recommend.

Early morning (ie 7am) external noise. Yes, it’s a city centre location, but the sound proofing is poor and leads to a rude awakening!

It was our first time staying at the Stock Exchange and I wanted to book a nice place to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday - the staff welcomed us upon our arrival and took our car to the private parking area, we were offered complimentary champagne and walked up to our room by a nice gentlemen named Nigel who told us about the heritage of the hotel! We stayed in the suite with a terrace and was blown away by the amenities! Lovely staff, lovely environment and such an amazing experience!

We ordered dinner the first night and I was a bit disappointed with the room service, particularly the steak but the rest of the food was lovely!

The properties location and decor are both amazing and all of the staff were extremely attentive and friendly.

Beautiful History to the building / hotel. Friendly and attentive staff all around. Cleaning services completed early in the day, including turn down service too. Top-ups of water, coffee, amenities in the bathroom where always available. Spacious rooms. Wonderful speakeasy bar in the hotel as well. Amazing location (dead center of the city)

We tried breakfast once, i wouldn't say i didn't like it, but had higher expectations. A La Carte menu was basic and food was alright - expected more from the breakfast. Nothing at all except for the breakfast part.

The decor is beautiful and the staff are so friendly

The pillows were not great and the room we were in had offices and a delivery entrance which was exceptionally noisy very early . Noise from others came through aircon vents so although the room had all these heavy soundproofed doors etc it was not quiet which was a pity

The hotel is located in the city center and transportation is convenient, it is very quiet, and I slept very well.

If I must offer a suggestion, it would be to have more breakfast options, preferably including some Southeast Asian dishes.

The only thing was that everyone else was greeted at check in to have a glass of champagne in the sitting room, for some reason we were just given a room key and sent on our way.

I know this is a first world problem but it was just very jarring to be in a beautiful and luxurious hotel but have to use rough toilet paper.

Exceptionally friendly greeting. Offered to sit in the lounge with a glass of champagne as check in carried out. Walked to our room with an informative member of staff explaining the history of the building. Extremely clean and well cared for property.

The shower was open to the main bedroom and not incorporated in the en suite. Odd as it could have been easily incorporated. Room 303.
