Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, Manchester

We loved our stay at the Kimpton for my fiancés birthday. The lobby and room were equally stunning and Gabrielle wad on hand throughout our stay to help us out with anything we needed. She even brought me a plaster to our room when I had a blister on my foot. That’s what I call service that goes above and beyond.

I guess it could have had a pool as it is a 5 star hotel after all. It looks to have the space even if some rooms were sacrificed.

Beautiful elegant styling and the bathroom was absolutely gorgeous. Very much liked the toiletries.

Breakfast - every single item on the hot buffet was cold. No thought about socket placement and no dressing table or mirror provided in the bedroom (for doing hair & make-up). This is a basic fundamental error that really surprised me - and made getting ready for a gala dinner difficult. Look at The Belfry for design functionality and elegance combined. Eg mirrors with integrated soft light strips. Misinformation from the lobby concierge that cost us an hour of relaxation together. My partner needed cuff links and was told that the hotel didn’t supply them and that he would need to go into the city. This in the pitch black, freezing cold and as a visitor not familiar with the city. This meant a wasted hour, a frantic rush, improvisation with hair pins - only to find on checkout that the hotel does indeed sell cuff links RIGHT THERE FROM THE LOBBY!!

This Hotel is a beautiful Building. The Breakfast was Lovely with endless choice. Hotel Reception Staff where really nice and helpful. Hotel room clean and spacious.

Woken up by a text message at 2.27am asking if I was enjoying my stay.

Well located close to the City centre with easy access to trams etc. Our room was comfortable, large and well furnished. The hotel ambience was great and for the most part the hotel staff were helpful and engaging (but not always at breakfast time!) The receptionists were very helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the building as a former insurance company. All the features have been largely retained which only adds to the overall feeling.

Insufficient ambient lighting in the room: there were bedside and reading lights or the main ceiling light. There was none over the desk area or by the two chairs - either would have been useful. Insufficient plug sockets for the kettle and the coffee machine - one or the other. This is poor for an upmarket hotel. The ironing board had not been properly checked as it was clearly broken and difficult to use.

We went for NYE & went to the event they put on which was fantastic! The management & staff were amazing! & V friendly

The hotel is beautiful, architecturally fascinating and well decorated. The staff were exceptional. Lots of nice little extras like resident complimentary drink from 5-6pm with hot chocolate for the children.

Huge room, big comfy bed, excellent staff and atmosphere! We’ll be back!

Shower was a bit of a mission but got there eventually. 😊 the room was still excellent.

Staff were all attentive and friendly. Facilities are excellent although one lift was not operational meaning a short walk. Doorman reaction to an exploding glass on a table we were sharing was a little alarming but possibly understandable. The fact a glass exploded must be of concern but we would not hesitate to stay here again. The food we had was excellent too.

Impressive historic building, situated perfectly for the Palace Theatre, museum etc. Very friendly, helpful staff, breakfast was wonderful, rooms with good quality mattresses (fitted with toppers), high ceilings and bags of natural light coming in.

Just little niggles really, room could have been cleaned more thoroughly, there was a used tissue behind the bedside cabinet on arrival, and moving the beds to hoover underneath every couple of weeks would be a good idea. In an otherwise immaculate bathroom, leaving the toilet seat fitted askew somewhat spoiled the aesthetic.

Absolutely beautiful building, the room was very spacious and immaculately decorated. The staff were on hand for anything you needed at anytime.

We were in room 123 and it was a little noisy in the night from the bar. It wasn’t an issue for us but people with younger children may have struggled.

The bath tub was slightly small. Breakfast didn't have much veg options.

The room service menu was pretty limited and the internet / tv at times was a bit inconsistent.

2nd visit and was greeted with gifts and an upgrade I never like too leave the history the staff and the rooms are captivating and will always come bk to this hotel on my visits

Have to pay extra £20 for parking. When I was making the reservation through booking.com, it was written that parking available but found out later that its not hotel’s parking. Actually it's nearby NCP car park for which have to pay extra.☹️

The property was beautiful. It had architectural interest and a high specification.

The traditional features

Some of the corridors were cold, draughty and not as welcoming as the rest of the hotel. Our bathroom had a smell of drainage so wasn't pleasant.

Full vegan breakfast - even as room delivery

Room was wonderful, staff very helpful and overall a lovely hotel.

Very noisy room on the first floor from the live music below. Would recommend requesting a room on a higher floor if you have children. Also the WiFi was virtually non existent.
