Building is just stunning!

It was smaller than I thought.

Beautiful hotel, love staying here, 2 minute stroll from the Palace Theatre.

As far as I was concerned I’d booked a twin bedded room for myself and my friend, only to be told we had a double bed! We refused that room and after a little re-jigging we were offered a twin. Apparently there are no guarantees to your chosen room. Never had a problem before.

Needed more history (information and pictures) of its previous existence as the Refuge Assurance. A key stone of Manchesters wealth and story.

The bar was a bit loud - we had Sunday lunch in the refuge and it was difficult to hear each other although the food was amazing

The hot buffet wasn’t hot, lukewarm at best When we went to get our buffet (hot) food there wasn’t any hash browns or fried eggs the beans and bacon were warm at best no milk on the table for tea/coffee although when asked they brought straight away

The hotel was absolutely amazing. I loved everything about it. My daughter said it was the most comfortable bed she’s ever slept in. The little touches in the room didn’t go unnoticed. Social hour is something I’ve never experienced before. The breakfast was fantastic. This is the best hotel I’ve stayed in to date.

I can’t find anything I don’t like about this hotel

Its a really fascinating place. Wonderful architecture, The Sunday roast was brilliant.

Disco music over lunch was a bit loud and distracting. Middle of the afternoon, wanted to talk, not boogie!! Parking is a bit of nightmare. Got another fine for driving in a bus lane. Second time this has happened.

Beautiful building. Large room with luxurious supplies and amenities. Good location and very friendly staff. Overall a happy stay and would return with a different room.

Very close to train or tram line, which caused a lot of noise and vibrations. Luckily we are heavy sleepers but this would keep most people awake!

The best service I have ever experienced. I’ve stayed in Manchester many of times for work but this time pleasure the staff made our stay. They took great care of us

Fabulous historic hotel with great room, incredible bar and excellent restaurant. If you like old unusual historic buildings this is definitely one for you to visit….highly recommended.

The room we had overlooked the train station so some noise in the morning. Unfortunately we found broken glass under the dressing table which was missed by the cleaners. Reported to reception staff who kindly offered to comp breakfast as an apology.

Perfect in every way. Large magnifying shaving mirror. Beautiful slice of history staying there: a real privilege. Fridge to keep things cool. Excellent very good quality coffee pod machine including decaf instead pods. Very friendly and attentive staff.

The room was lovely and clean and quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room had a great view over the city.

We requested 2 single beds but unfortunately received 1 double instead.

The reception team were very helpful and friendly. Location for the theatre, beautiful building. Lovely room. Nice touches inc crisps, biscuits, huge selection of teas, coffees and options hot chocolate ( my daughter was very happy. Nice toiletries

I’m being really fussy the flush wasn’t great and had to be flushed quite a few times. Room 184 We were really disappointed with the afternoon tea in the refuge. Tbf we were late as the traffic and roadworks were horrendous. I did keep calling to apologise and say we were on our way. Once we arrived the team member that greeted us was lovely. We then waited for 45 minutes before we got served our tea then at least an other 50 minutes before our food came. Not the best service.

We had a fabulous room in this absolutely stunning, historic building! The customer service was excellent, every staff member we spoke to was friendly and professional. And the breakfast is fantastic! Highly recommend!!!

Room furniture very old

Room was spacious and clean. Very comfortable. Free drinks was a very nice touch and made it feel special. Building is really special.

Breakfast lacked cleared tables to sit at & couldn't find spoons, had to ask. Hot breakfast food could have been warmer. Room service after 11pm was pretty much zero, got a just eat instead. Thought there would be a little more option for a large 5* hotel, than what sounded like two types of frozen pizza...

Amazing historic building with beautiful tiles and architectural features. Also complementary drinks between 5-6 pm was nice surprise.

Hard to find our room, could have been clearer signage. Also lights in room could not be switched on individually.

hads a massive en-suite, but the only shower was a handheld to use while sitting in the bath

Loved the location, staff friendliness and social hour!

We so wish that there was a quiet bar to go to for residents at night. Instead after a concert we had to queue for more than 20 mins in the very ‘clubby’ Refuge bar to get a late (11pm) nightcap. No fault of the exceptional bar tenders btw, just volume of people and mainly non residents I would guess.

1. The reception desk was exceptionally customer friendly in accommodating requests and they were very attentive to customer care. 2. The Restauarnat was fabulous as I experienced breakfast 3. The location was mervellous on Oford street and within walking distance of MCO station so very convenient

1. There were stairs inside the room so taking heavy luggage inside was uncomfortable. 2. Same is true for approach to elevator which caused little discomfort to reach my room with heavy luggage.

Lovely spacious and nicely styled. Good facilities and the breakfast buffet was delicious.

Older building, thin walls- was woken up early by neighbours alarm going off repeatedly for over 30mins.

Breakfast delivered to the room in the morning was just simply brilliant. Finished off the wonderful stay! Had a large accessible room booked and it didn’t disappoint! The wow factor was perfect for my wife’s birthday and I couldn’t have asked for more.

Refuge bar was great place to chill at the end of the night, amazing location, helpful staff, Kimpton hour was an unexpected bonus.

Room did not feel as luxurious as the photos on the website. Bed was very firm and pillows could have been more supportive.

The location was great. Across the street from the train station and plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.

I was there for a conference and specifically asked to keep the same room for two nights, but they did not accommodate my request. The breakfast was standard at best. Definitely not worth paying for, you'll get better and cheaper not far away.

The room was lovely. Very comfy bed and spotless bathroom. The staff were great and the bar downstairs really fun.

The restaurant was nice, but it was a bit of a mash-up of styles of cuisine.
