Hotel Viceroy Santa Monica, Los Angeles

Nice rooms and hotel. Good restaurant and drinks at the bar. Breakfast room service was tasty and comfortable.

Netflix on the tv. Lounge area around pool was good but not great for sun catching. Good walking location. Clean. Food for breakfast was lovely. Rooms cleaned every day.

No balcony. Food was expensive.

The rooms were pleasant, with large bathrooms and good quality linens. Valet and house keeping staff were wonderful.

Questions at front desk met with derision; just asking for simple clarification. Pool area a little grubby. Sofa bed was really uncomfortable and once made up on the first night just left out. Finally, a bar staff member took my order, decided to serve a ‘preferred’ guest after taking my payment and then went back to complete my order. I don’t accept that kind of preferential treatment when we’re all paying guests.

We really enjoyed our time by the pool, the food was nice and the kids had fun. Our room was a great size.

No coffee machine in the room and the coffee shop in the lobby closes early. No turn down service so no fresh towels at night and no free bottles of water. If you go to stay with low expectations you will be ok.

The service was extremely kind and friendly and professional. Excellent breakfast and very nice ambience.

Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room was extremely noisy.

The location is ideal. It is super central and fantastic for exploring Santa Monica and Venice. Not cheap but worth the spluge.

We could hear our neighbours next door fighting one of the nights.

It was a great location for the Santa Monica Pier, just one street away. The room was lovely and the outdoor area had fires which was cosy as the evening was a bit chilly. Also they charged our Tesla overnight which was very helpful and a great added benefit.

I do think it was quite expensive but I understand it is in a good location

Location Room Pool Food

I needed a "business center"-like to have remote meetings. The only one available required extra payment and it was also too expensive.

Location within walking distance to many restaurants & close to beach

Lots of places to meet family & hang out. Love the restaurant on site for the times we wanted to stay put & have breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a snack & cocktails. The staff was very accommodating & congenial!

After travelling for 20 hours, it would have been a nice gesture for staff to provide early check-in given the room was ready. Instead, staff chose to ask an extra $150 to check in a few hours early. A bit inhospitable.

Design and eye for detail was excellent. Loved the lobby and hotel bar, ‘hang out’ space.

Restaurant was really nice with attentive staff and good food. Location is ideal- walking distance to a lot of prime spots in Santa Monica. Would stay again.

Walls were really really thin. We were staying next to a clearly enthused group of bridesmaids and it felt like they were sharing the room with us. Not sure if this is in all rooms or just ours.

Pool side.. 2 very small pools , you can’t swim in them, (more for a dip to cool off.)with limited sun beds… very disappointing for a 4 star hotel. Pool music loud. No tea and coffee facilities .

Nice decor, good location, friendly staff, reasonable price (for the area)

The room floor had not been properly cleaned. There was sand and pieces of food on the carpeted area. The non carpeted area was fine. For $600 a night I was expecting a properly vacuumed floor. Parking unreasonably expensive.

Location was great.

Small pool area and poor management of seating and space with lots of young children dominating, not very relaxing. Loved the bikes, maybe more bikes would be great. Staff didn’t read my note before we checked in.

Staff were fantastic and facilities were great. Really appreciated an upgrade to a King Suite, which was amazing.

Clean and fresh

There was a protest going on, every morning around 7:00 am we were waking up to disturbing noise from the outside

Everything was very clean, comfortable, staff were welcoming and very friendly. I have always loved my stay here :)

I found them doing maintenance work in my room without being informed - would've been nice to have been given a heads up. The experince was lovely but the menu also can be improved.

The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The only comment I have is the beds were not super comfortable. Otherwise, everything was lovely!

The hotel is a boutique with a fresh feel and attentive staff. The rooms are clean, newly decorated and of good size. The bathroom was large, and the shower was one of the largest I have seen at a hotel of late. The pool was small but clean.

The rooms really should have tea and coffee available and those little extra touches.

The staff were wonderful. Very friendly and efficient. I especially appreciated the water available at the front desk.

I was travelling from overseas. In the lead up to my stay I had great difficulty getting through to the front desk to confirm my booking. That was super frustrating.

The rooms and the beds were great. The staff were super nice and friendly and helpful. The pool was nice but a bit small. The outdoor area was really great. The lounge / restaurant / lobby was very nice and well designed. First rate service overall.

They didn't have coffee in the rooms, only coffee for purchase in the lobby cafe. There is a $40 / day amenity fee they tack on after the taxes etc. The shower water pressure wasn't awesome, maybe I'm not used to rainshower heads.

excellent location, very friendly staff, spacious and beautiful rooms, great outdoor area and very modern and clean gym facility. bike rentals were a great experience too.

there was some traffic noise from the road, but it was not too bad. beds were very soft, so if you are used to firmer mattresses this will not be comfortable.

Location was good able to walk every where

Disappointed that there was no hot tub on site for the price we paid. Also cost of parking overnight was a bit extreme!

Nice Lobby, nice spacious rooms.

The phone system was recently revised and is flawed. Deeply messed up, that's all I can say.

The stuff and location

I didn’t get the exact room that showed in the booking app pictures I got something different such as the bathroom and the sea view there was a palms block the view a little bit. Also when I order from the hotel restaurant to my room they charge the delivery to my room this is over

The location of the hotel was excellent! In short walking distance of the major attractions on the west side of Los Angeles. The staff at the hotel were also very friendly and easy to talk to.

Location versus price is excellent

The noise under the hotel caused by the union made it wake up at 6 am

The pool area was a little smaller than expected; expensive valet parking

The room and property were absolutely gorgeous, really chic and stylish. The bed was super comfortable. Valet service were really nice to us.

On one of my nights there, something went wrong with the water heater and I found myself showering in freezing cold water. No one's fault I guess. Also one time the valet didn't get the message to get my car and we had to wait for like 15-20 minutes.

The staff were fantastic, they were really friendly and helpful, especially the manager, she was absolutely brilliant, very efficient and helpful. Great place for breakfast too.

I wish there had been a kettle or coffee-maker in the room, but that's only a small thing.

We stayed at this hotel six years ago and it was very nice then but the remodel has made the property beautiful and peaceful. The building is in a great location, only a block from the beach.

There are very few negatives about this hotel. I was disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room, forcing guests to either order overpriced coffee or walk to a nearby coffee shop.

The location, facilities (pool, gym) and staff were wonderful. It was easy to get around, with lots of local food options within a reasonable walk. The beds were super comfy, and the rooms were spacious.

The barista staff were not great, took forever each morning to make bad drinks (burnt milk in both lattes and hot chocolates). We ended up going elsewhere for coffee after several bad (and expensive) experiences.

No coffee in the room. You need to buy it at thier coffee shop for $7 a cup. For $500 a night they could supply coffee for free.

The bikes were very badly maintained. Very pricey for what they offer. The laundry service was extremely expensive.
