Friendly staff

The decoration in the room it’s really old. The room we got is the worst one. There’s a night market across the street, which is really loud and they won’t stop until 12 AM. Every day in the morning the bell from the church rings every hour didn’t sleep well and you can’t even fully close the window there were wind blowing through the gap. Very noisy we stayed in other proper before it was a whole different picture. Did not worth the price.

Amenities are not impressed and need maintenance. Easy transportation in downtown but not really necessary to stay here just for the hotel

First stay, very bad experience! It's very, very noisy and badly soundproofed. Children and adults can't sleep at all and can hear all the sounds in the road, especially the sounds of cars! This is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in!

I couldn’t stop raving about the incredible staff, whose professionalism and genuine kindness made my stay all the more enjoyable. The food and cocktails were exceptional, offering a perfect blend of creativity and flavor that exceeded all expectations. The team at this hotel is truly outstanding, ensuring every moment felt special. This is, without a doubt, the best hotel I have ever been to. I cannot wait to return and relive this incredible experience. Highly recommended!

Room was good--good size/ comfortable and a great interior- Public areas and rooftop were fabulous Food was fabulous--Loved the Casa Verde restaurant --everyting was great-interior fitout/ food/ light/detailing and staff were very friendly and helpful

Only thing that could have been better was if the property could clean the windows! The glass was really dirty and streaked in our room

We’d specifically requested 2 Queen Deluxe City View rooms. While we were next door to each other (which we requested), one room was a Queen Deluxe with the bed pushed into the corner. We had seen this configuration online and didn’t like it. Reception said it was the fault of Booking.com and said they couldn’t change it.

We've stayed at a few DTLA hotels and this has to be our fave. If you're a design fan, the Proper is for you. The Kelly Wearstler interiors are divine - the entrance is magical and the rooftop bar is dreamy with lots of greenery and stunning views over Downtown. We loved our high-floor room. Beautiful decor, bathroom and bed - wish I could have taken the pillows home with me. Excellent service from the front desk and valet team. Had a super fun night at the rooftop bar with friends, really didn't want to leave.

It is a well designed boutique hotel. Room was immaculate, the bed was comfortable and the everything was well thought out. Bathroom was good too.

Very little not to like. Maybe the open shower that got way too much water outside of the shower? That wouldn’t stop me from going back. Or really anything else.

Mini bar was incredible. We had no need to even leave the property with the variety of beverages both alcoholic and non alcoholic and snacks. Room service food was incredible. We had a personalized note and dessert tray awaiting us when we arrived.

Website stated that we would receive a $50 dining credit, however when we placed a breakfast order the next day, we were billed the entire order to our card on file and did not receive a credit.

The place has many amenities. It has extraordinary design and basically makes you want to stay within the hotel and not go outside.

We were a bit surprised of the high amenities fee which wasn't presented at the time of the purchase. However, the staff was more than welcoming and assisted us in using the benefits of the hotel to make it cost-effective.

Our most memorable part of our stay at the Downtown Proper was the service and hospitality. They exceeded our expectations. The staff were all very friendly, professional and hospitable. In addition, it was the little details that really mattered. All the bathrooms were equipped with Aesop products, there were complimentary fresh green and red juices in the fitness area and eucalyptus cooling towels, and the decor on the main level really embodied the 'so cal' modern vibe. Rooms were on the smaller side, but very comfortable. Bathrooms were equipped with Aesop products, lighting was warm and indirect, the bed was comfortable and it was nice to be able to open the window for some fresh LA air. The black out blinds were also really useful. Location was fantastic to use as a base to explore downtown LA. Minutes to the central food market, surrounded by Art Deco architecture and a quick drive to the Arts district.

The first room we were assigned had the bed pushed up right against the wall. The hotel was very responsive in finding us an alternate room.

Foods are delicious. The staff are very friendly.

The room is too small. There is no coffee machine.

The staff was very professional and helpful. The rooms were large for a retrofitted building in DTLA and the Decore was very nice. When i had problem it was fixed without any issue.

There could have been more storage space for clothes, maybe some kid of draw system or bins. The location was perfect for my needs and the immediate area felt safe.
