Downtown Proper Hotel, Los Angeles

Beautiful property in a great part of LA. Cozy rooms, great access to restaurants. Very relaxing and peaceful stay!

Boyfriend said the bed wasn’t as supportive as he’s like but I’d didn’t feel that way.

Great location if you want to be or have to be downtown. Great rooftop, bar and restaurant.

Rooms err on the smaller side but are well designed and comfortable.

There is nothing I don't like I will just suggest exlreso machine in room but you can get it in restaurant down stairs

The nice decor, friendly front staff.

The room is smaller than I thought, no coffee maker in the room, the roof top is too small , no cafeteria or reception area meaning place to hang out. And when I went to the roof top to check out, the staff was not nice and welcoming. The gym was ok. It’s a cool place but considering everything I don’t think it’s worth the price.

Stunning hotel, design lover's paradise. Seriously, for a desing lover like myself, it's like going to church. Staff it too nice also !

from the moment you walk through the door the staff make you feel so welcome. Shout out to Damien for exceptional service. Great room , view comfy bed, great bathroom. Very useful for have good sized table to work on. Brilliant bar staff on rooftop bar. Again extremely welcoming. The location is good and central in Downtown. the birthday wine a cake was very much appreciated.

our restaurant experiences were disappointing. The lobby restaurant looks great, although empty. I feel we were tricked in to buying a started as the main course washing to take a long time to prepare and come to us. It did not and the peri-peri chicken was not only enough for 3 people but it was just late lumps of chicken surrounds by soggy chips. My duck as over large and really boring, with a few soggy greens underneath. I can't remember what the wrap was at the rooftop restaurant but I remember it there was far too much wrap for what was inside. The restaurant was the first one in which neither my wife or myself could find a desert we would want to eat. The pool is an asset. far too small and no shade. As a result the pool surround had tiles so hot it burnt your foot. There was not one sunshade on the whole floor. we had to retreat shortly after arriving. The proper hotel santa monica , rooftop pool awash with sunshades. such a waste.

pool closes at sunset, bar closes before midnight on Friday, historic windows in upper floors allow lots of street noise in all night.

Rooms are super clean and modern with unmatchable views of DTLA. Nothing is left behind in this place when it comes to attention to details. The staff are the most amazing bunch, super friendly and helpful. besides the room itself, had one of the most amazing experiences with food at the restaurants on the ground floor and the roof terrace. it’s a wonder world of tastes. 100/100 recommended.

The property is well designed and chic- we really enjoyed the view from our room and the architecture throughout the building. We also loved the rooftop restaurant and bar.

The location- although DTLA is having a moment of improvement, it still has a way to go. Additionally, if you plan to go anywhere from the hotel an Uber will set you back >$40 and it will take about 30-45mins to get anywhere from DTLA.

Bathroom was great. I loved the shower. Room keys let us in to our room quickly and easily. Staff was really nice and friendly. It was nice to have someone open the door for us almost every single time we went somewhere. AC worked great.

The food is really weird. Hard to find something "normal" to eat. We weren't told about the rooftop bar/pool when we checked in, we had to discover that on our own. I didn't find the power outlets until we were packing up to leave since they're hidden inside the bedside table. This might be the first hotel I've ever stayed at that didn't have a coffee maker in the room. When I ordered coffee with cream and sugar to be delivered to my room with breakfast, I got cream but no sugar, then after my coffee was already gone I discovered they had brought honey. Having to call and request ice was a real pain. Would have been nice if there was a vending machine somewhere on the property. Having the bed against two walls (in the corner) meant only one of us could get out of bed easily (but I'm not sure how this could be fixed since our room was tiny. I searched and searched before finally finding the hair dryer. The TV options were weird. It would have been nice to have a channel guide. It was probably 10 degrees hotter in the bathroom than in the bedroom, no matter what we did with the AC. At the bar we ordered water FOUR times before it was finally delivered (no exaggeration, it was literally four times).

The design, of course, and the staff were helpful, but the pool area was too small so wouldn’t stay there again, but choose the Santa Monica location instead
