Hotel The Savoy, London

beautiful lobby, downstairs bar and the breakfast was lovely.

rooms looked like a 3/4 star hotel. Other than that the hotel itself was stunning. For paying nearly €1000 a night I would expect more from the rooms. The decor and design is outdated and old. They need a revamp. Also didnt like there was an additonal £30 per room for service charge. I travel quite a lot and stay in 5 star hotels and I have never seen this. Also 150 as a deposit fee per room is a bit hefty, you could maybe say that in advance on booking.com

There was nothing I didn’t like. It was all superb

The location of the Savoy is excellent. I have mobility issues and need to use a mobility scooter but every effort was made to ensure I could access all areas of the hotel. Our booking included Breakfast which was an excellent choice, great value for money with lots of choice. The restaurant staff looked after all our requests with a warm smile and made us feel very welcome, we were able to spend as much time as we wished over breakfast.

I honestly cannot think of anything that could have been done better. We will most definitely return.

The staff had the right balance of providing supreme service, where nothing was too much trouble and were mostly preemptive, while still being personable and warm. You can find lovely hotel rooms anywhere, but finding the right staff is obviously the Savoy’s forte.

In a breakfast room of many empty tables, trying to get all of the breakfast plates on a small table for two people was a good act in jigsaw puzzling. However, this is a small quibble as everything else excellent.

Love the traditional decor. It’s an all in one for me. Wanted a place where I didn’t need to leave the hotel for anything. High tea was excellent. Dinner at the grill was good. The staff in general were great, especially the doormen and the lady who cleaned my room. She noticed I hadn’t used the espresso machine and left a note telling me there was a hidden button to press to turn it on. I thought that was sweet.

I loved the luxury feel of the hotel the staff were really nice and friendly the room which we upgraded was spacious they had set up a bed and the cutest little bathrobes and slippers for my children

Being very picky I didn’t like the set up of the room the tv was tucked away in the corner we couldn’t really watch it the ac made the room very cold and there wasn’t a douche in the toilet

Met Arthut at reception, he couldn't have been any more helpful, and pleasant! Lovdly wat y to be greeted, partucularly as we were only staying for 2 nights. All other staff who we dealt with were also so nice to us

As always, the Savoy exceeds it's own reputation. Pure luxury, and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The room was spacious, the bed incredibly comfortable. Just a wonderful place to stay.

The concierge assumed that we weren't residents, but soon made up for that mistake.

The pool was small and the spa/fitness area felt a bit dated, but that's a minor minus.

Didn’t realise there was an accommodation service charge an additional charge on top of the price we paid As all the drinks had service charge and vat on so didn’t really understand why that wasn’t explained to us really

Having stayed once before we found this year some of the staff were very abrupt, we were turned away from one of the bars for lunch, the staff member looked me up and down and assumed I was not suitable, until my wife said we were staying in the hotel, them amazingly we were then offered a table. At dinner we were left waiting 10 minutes before being shown to table, you would expect to be taken to your table much sooner, no where to sit to wait and not even asked if we wanted to wait at the bar and have a drink, you just stand in the corner. At breakfast I ordered my eagerly waited for Arnold Bennett, it arrived and it was so overcooked it was stuck to the pan! Dissapointing, told the waiter and he just mumbled, ordered another coffee and it took 25 minutes to arrive, so service wasn't the best. Minor issues i know but when you pay the big money your paying for service.

Leaving to go home

This is without doubt the best hotel we have stayed in London. The Christmas decor was spell binding. The front desk were professional and couldn’t do enough to meet our needs. The property oozes class, charm and English Christmas spirit.

We did not receive a glass of fizz on arrival which would have been a nice touch however we did arrive three hours before the allotted checkin time and the hotel accommodated us on arrival. So to conclude I am not sure if a glass of bubbles is standard for those who check in at the correct time.

It’s all wonderful: great location, the staff are friendly and professional, beautiful building, comfortable rooms. The staff manage to create an atmosphere which is relaxed but also 100% attentive to guests needs.
