Hotel Granduca, Houston

1080 Uptown Park, Houston, TX 77056, United States of America (show on map)

Hotel Granduca is a sophisticated slice of Italy nestled in Houston’s upscale Uptown Park. Founded in 2006 by Giorgio Borlenghi, the hotel was inspired by the 16th-century palazzo of Adalberto Malatesta, a former Granduca of Monfallito. Its design is a love letter to Old World craftsmanship, featuring reclaimed architectural elements, antique furnishings, and hand-painted details that make the property feel more like a secluded European villa than a standard city hotel.

The hotel’s standout features include its serene, temperature-controlled outdoor pool, which is surrounded by lush gardens, Roman-inspired sculptures, and shaded cabanas. All 121 suites are designed for comfort and extended stays, featuring full kitchens and elegant, neutral-toned decor. Recently renovated by designer Kara Childress, the space balances this classic Italian inspiration with modern Texan hospitality, creating an environment that feels both luxurious and remarkably lived-in.

Location-wise, you are perfectly positioned for both leisure and exploration. The famous Houston Galleria, a premier shopping destination, is just five minutes away. For those interested in local culture, the hotel is a short drive from the city’s renowned Museum District, which hosts world-class institutions like the Menil Collection and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Nature lovers will also appreciate being less than a mile from Memorial Park, one of the largest urban parks in the United States, offering miles of hiking trails and quiet green spaces. Whether you are enjoying a custom cocktail at Giorgio’s Bar or exploring the nearby Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park, the hotel serves as a peaceful, refined anchor in the heart of the city.

Very unsatisfactory

The hotel is in need of some upgrades. Hotel is very dated. Construction was going on so only one elevator was working. It was not worth the price and on top of all this I got charged for self parking.

Location.

I was disappointed in the hotel it was not 4 Star or 5 Star service.

Good location

They tried to over charge my American Express card when I arrived for incidentals . It was declined . I called the customer service. They told ent hey we’re trying to charge $647.00 and to get a line item receipt and it was supposed to be $150. This happened the time before. I was very upset thinking my CC had been hacked. They were supposed to give me a full refund. When I left they told me they were waiting on the manager. All the staff except one valet was fired or quit in the few days before. There were also some strange people and activities around. I will not stay there until it if finished na even then I might not. They better refund my stay.

Awful and Unacceptable

Location

Significant renovations were taking place at the property during my visit, which meant that the typical dining space was closed as well as the patios, and only the pool area was open. However, in order to reach the pool area guest were required to walk outside and all the way around the property to access this area. The property did not inform guests of the extensive renovations and minimized the work being done. Work on the property due to renovations begin early in the mornings and lasted all throughout the day, creating a very loud and disruptive atmosphere making it impossible to work remotely uninterrupted from property. Upon check out, I requested to speak to a manager and there was none available. I shared how my room did not have a basic amenity such as a refrigerator causing my $50 custom-made gumbo to spoil. I was only offered a breakfast for the many unacceptable interruptions and inconvenience experienced while staying at this property. I requested that a manager give me a call and to date I have not heard from anyone from the property. I am recommending to my colleagues and business partners to no longer stay at this property when visiting Houston due to the poor accommodations and customer service.

Anniversary get away to Houstons best area.

The location is fantastic. The doormen were also fantastic. My wife really enjoyed the deep tub, and I enjoyed the beautiful pool. The bar is very nice, as well as the bar staff. Parking is great whether valet or self.

The check in folks seemed preoccupied and could cheer up some. We were very surprised that there was not a refrigerator in the room, as it had a microwave and stove....but there is really very little to not like here.

Great small intimate hotel suites, with beautiful patio and swimming pool.

Beautiful property. Awesome pool and patio. The rooms are spacious, not updated but anyway they have all you need for a short or long stay.

The room furniture could use some maintenance.

Great experience and will return (but probably not for the full asking price until they renovate)

This is a very nice property - beautiful and comfortable with topnotch service. (Wyatt at the front desk was the BEST!)

For the price and the 5 stars, parts of the property could use a little TLC (renovations/upgrades).

Fabulous

Food was amazing; pool and garden vibe was incredibly relaxing and transported us to the Mediterranean.

The food staff was awkward and not on point; the concierge staff was not knowledgeable about ADA policies.

This hotel is the best kept secret in Houston.

The hotel is spectacular and you feel like it is an oasis inside of Houston. Very European feel. Dining, pool, and staff is amazing. The front desk not so much. The wait staff, chef, bartenders, are incredible. The rooms are always beautiful with Bulgari soaps and shampoos. Valet is very helpful and service oriented. The Alba resteraunt is the best dining experience in Houston and very romantic. The best service and food.

Front desk employees either not informed or not very service oriented. Not much smiling or friendliness. Professional but not much in personality.

Very comfortable and relaxing!

I was a little worried that it might be a bit pretentious and not the place for a leisure type trip. I was wrong, it was great. As soon as we arrived we were able to relax and enjoy the stay.

Nice staff, clean, quite and esay access/exit location.

Breakfast is fantastic . I like the proximity from restaurants and shopping area same time it is easy exit /entry from key highways I use during my stay.

Varity of in-hotel restaurants, but it is boutique hotel and this is acceptable to me.
