We did a lot of research prior to our trip and the Hotel Fabian was highly recommended. We wanted a room with a little more space since we were staying for 5 nights. We communicated with the hotel ahead of time and received prompt replies and influenced our decision to stay there. The room was quiet. Good black out drapes for the long days. Great nespreso machine in room. Large room and nicely furnished. Outstanding breakfast. Nice seating for breakfast with plenty of options. And a very friendly and helpful staff. The location was excellent. Close to downtown and public transport.

Staff was friendly and smily in that freezing weather. Location superb 👌 Never ever had so pure WATER 💧 for drinking and after shower. Dressing gowns provided. Such an amazing design of the room with attention to details and so spacious aswell. Breakfast was incredibly healthy but no hot food choices apart porridge and pancakes

In such a cold climate I would expect hot food for breakfast

Only point I can mention is the temperature of the room. It was not cold but a bit chilly.

We found the team to be very welcoming and knowledgeable. They came across as a team of hospitality professionals who clearly love what they do.

The location of the hotel is excellent. The breakfast buffet is small but has a selection of fresh and good food. The beds are big and comfortable.

I have been staying at Hotel Fabian every year since they opened and sometimes even multiple times a year. While it was a great hotel in the early years, I am sad to say that the comfort and luxury has declined. The general upkeep has become less (mold and dirty grouts in the bathrooms) and quite soms dust in the rooms. The fact that the windows don’t open (you have to ask for a special key) is quite annoying since you can’t properly manage the temperature and the airflow in the rooms. It gets quite hot and the noise of the central airflow is disturbing. Also during our recent stay between Christmas and New Years, there was a young woman at the reception/bar who didn’t even how to make a simple cup of coffee with milk. Her excuse was that she normally worked at a different hotel. I understand that the coffee machine might work differently, but the fact that I had to ask her for a saucer and a spoon for the coffee cup and she just quite agressively put a pack of milk in front of me on the desk, shows zero hospitality skills. Also that she somehow managed to make a very nice looking cafe latte for herself, surprised me even more. All these things are however ‘fixable’ with some remodeling of the rooms and maybe some hospitality training of staff. For the price and location I am willing to give it one last shot the next time we visit Helsinki.

The coffee provided at breakfast was weak and tasteless. Better from the mac hine at the bar. I also found it difficuot to work out the lighting sytem in my room!

The only, but serious problem was, that the room air-conditioner was tuned ONLY for cooling, not for heating. Same to heat units on the wall- they stayed cold. Room T was about 21. All my attempts to warm the room were in vain. Too little T for those who are from warmer countries.

Our room was spotlessly clean, the room was a generous size and the bed was extremely comfortable. Everything was perfect and we very much enjoyed our stay. This boutique hotel has some of the best staff we’ve encountered on our travels, admirably led by Kristian (a special mention goes to Elizabeth on reception who was delightful). The staff in the dining area looked after everyone very well. There was a selection of fabulous food available for breakfast which catered for vegetarians, meat-eaters and those who needed a gluten free selection. This is a superb hotel. Thank you! We’ll be back 🙂 ….

Everything was fantastic, the room was large, stylish and clean, the breakfast was great and the staff super friendly and helpful. I have no notes.

Quiet, spacious room with comfortable beds. Staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. Excellent wifi in the rooms and lobby. Large shower. Lots of breakfast options (mainly continental/Finnish) with gluten free alternatives. Hotel is in an excellent location for visiting centre of Helsinki - 5 mins walk from Esplanadi park, Helsinki port and Old Market Hall, 10 mins walk to Helsinki cathedral and Allas sea pool. Plenty of restaurants around ranging from expensive authentic Finnish food, to cheaper fast food options.

Breakfast seating area was a little cramped as the hotel was quite busy. There is an outdoor seating area which may open during busy periods, but weather in the morning wasn't great so this was closed. Only one elevator but to be expected in a hotel of this size. Other than that, no complaints!
