Cleanness of the bedding

The main reason for choosing this hotel was the location between the city centre and Miniatur Wunderland. We had a nice room, liked the bar and had a good breakfast.

It was still very cold in Hamburg, but that has nothing to do with the hotel...

We had a very nice room, however, to have the window open at night , not recommendable due to a construction site . we will aways come back here .

Excellent location for sightseeing

Lovely breakfast, nice products in bathroom, bathrobe and slippers provided, comfy pillows and bed. Only downside no onsite restaurant but plenty within walking distance

Clean bright room very comfortable bed.

The toilet door scraped against the floor making an incredibly loud noise and waking my wife up every time I needed to go to the toilet. Lights switches are automatic which is really a problem when the doors don’t close properly.

Very spacious,clean and comfortable, modern and stylish,great location,super bonus bathtub in the middle of the room! If only I will have chance to come back to Hamburg my choice will be this hotel. Highly recommended.

A very small thing, but the duvet was very heavy and thick making it a bit too hot for sleeping. I understand this is just personal preference.

One member of staff could have been a little more pleasant - taking your unfinished breakfast away before you’d finished, but not going to let that spoil what was a great long weekend.

We received a friendly welcome, and check-in and check-out were straightforward. The room had a great view and was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was truly varied and of high quality.

The snacks and drinks in the room are too expensive. If you're already paying a premium for accommodation, the items in the room should be a bit cheaper. Furthermore, the toilet door was stuck and wouldn't close properly. The curtain was completely stained, and the plaster on the walls was cracking. You didn't feel comfortable using the room properly because everything had a price tag. In addition, the parking situation is very poor, and parking costs almost as much as the stay itself.

The hotel was in a great location. The staff were excellent, very helpful, and all spoke multi languages and provided outstanding level of service. The room was an excellent level of comfort and quality of furnishings and items. The bedding was like sleeping under huge fluffy clouds. It also had a coffee machine, kettle, and radio. And blackout curtains. Breakfast is buffet style, with some choices offered such as omelette and eggs cooked by chef. The level of breakfast buffet options was excellent, along with fresh ground coffee or tea.

There was only one annoyance, The control panels in the bedroom, illuminated the whole room as bright as having the lights on making it not easy to sleep. Maybe a flip panel over the top of some of them would help to reduce the illumination.

Beautiful room

The staff is exceptionally courteous and helpful. The suite was very nice as well, with a great view and the interior was warm and luxurious.

The hotel was selected as booking.com showed it with a parking space. but the parking is kilometres away from the hotel and the guests are expected to walk with their baggage from the parking as there is no parking facility in front of the hotel as well, for the hotel so that one can easily check in and then take the car to the parking place.

Room was noisy often in the middle of the night from street noise. Not a lot of place to put clothing and luggage in the room. Didn't understand why you need a key to use the elevator when someone could just walk in off the street and go directly up the stairs without passing the front desk.

The property had a nice feel to it and the room was comfortable.

Nice location, the rooms are very nice and with attention to details, a large choice in the room minibar and liquors and something to eat (all need to be paid extra). Quite strange toilet setup, Sink in the room, wc in a separate box and shower in another box. Nice welcome cocktail and posh hall.

Nothing in particular. Always difficult to have a print of the invoice at the check-out even if I gave all the info at the check-in, but this seems to be common to all the hotels.

Excellent staff and location

The hotel is lovely, the rooms are very comfortable, the bed is fantastic, the location is fantastic, loads of very nice restaurants and shops nearby nearby, the breakfast is certainly one of the best we have had at a hotel and there is also a very nice hotel bar that stays open late - we would recommend this hotel and will stay here on our next trip to Hamburg.

I want to say its perfect because its a lovely hotel but a couple of minor issues should be looked at - the advert on booking said there is a minibar which there is but its not in use and not switched on and also there is no welcome drink as the advert states - I suspect there might have been a voucher for a drink but this wasn't provided at reception. These are very minor issues and certainly didn't didn't affect the overall experience but if something is advertised it should be provided.

The Nikolai Hamburg is an excellent hotel, conveniently located in Altstadt, a lovely historical area right by one of Hamburg’s many canals. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from the UNESCO World Heritage site Speicherstadt, as well as shops, restaurants, and cafés. The hotel is close to bus and subway lines and can be easily reached from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof. Rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious! Staff helped to get reservations and navigate German websites.

The shower is separated from the toilet, which is great, although it floods the room every time. Have to use extra towels to control the water from flooding the entire room. Not a definitive reason not to choose the hotel, but a bit annoying .

Location next to St.Catherine’s church (easy to navigate by the spire), within a walking distance to almost everything. Very good breakfast with good coffee, eggs to order options, nice view from breakfast room. Appreciated a knife and different sorts of glasses in the room and Occitaine Vervein toiletries. Easy to operate touch-switches for lights, room temperature etc. A bathrobe and slippers available. Coffee, tea - too. TV sorts German, European, World news channels. Personnel very friendly and helpful. I was accepted on arrival well before official check-in time and gained extra time in Hamburg!

Note well that wc cabinet light switches on as you open its door, at night this may not be very comfortable to get instant bright light. The sink is in the room and the shower and wc are in a separate ‘cabinets’; the idea is ok if you know it.

I loved the room and the hotel property itself is really great

The communication re parking and re malfunctioned room fridge was off. I realized they ran out of parking tickets only when I arrived so had to pay and move the car. I realized the fridge in my room wasn’t working only after milk I put there spoiled. A short communication would have solved it very easily and it’s annoying they didn’t think it’s worth informing me

All was good

Reception staff especially Alina and Katherine were exceptional. The breakfast buffet is remarkably good. Great food , well presented and so fresh. The location is quiet but just very short walks to many of the city's main features, and easy access from public transport.

I felt the bar area was very cold and sterile. Not cozy - stiff tables and chairs which work well for breakfast did not provide any of the luxurious feel of the rest of the hotel. Perhaps a few soft upholstered chairs could be grouped for use in the evening.

The hotel is well located within the city and close to many of the main attractions . The staff were very friendly and helpful , particularly the bar staff !

The additional costs of breakfast was quite expensive . There was also a lack of tea and coffee in the rooms . The shower wet room also flooded
