Point A Hotel, Glasgow

80 Bath St, Glasgow G2 2EN, Scotland (show on map)

The Point A Hotel in Glasgow is a modern, budget-friendly retreat that opened in 2017. Designed with a sleek, “airline-inspired” aesthetic, the property focuses on efficiency and comfort, making it a popular choice for travelers who want to be right in the middle of the city’s action without the high price tag.

The hotel’s rooms are intentionally compact and clever, featuring high-quality Hypnos beds, power showers, and adjustable mood lighting. One of the most interesting aspects of the design is the range of windowless rooms available, which are specifically marketed as a quiet, dark sanctuary for those who want a guaranteed undisturbed sleep in the heart of a bustling city center.

Located just 300 meters from the Royal Concert Hall, the hotel puts you within walking distance of almost everything. You’re only a short stroll from the premier shopping of Buchanan Street, the historic Gallery of Modern Art, and the ornate Glasgow City Chambers. It’s also a perfect launching point for the city’s famous “Mural Trail,” where you can discover massive, colorful street art tucked away in the city’s historic lanes.

The hotel features a large, airy guest atrium that serves as a multi-functional space for working, dining, or simply grabbing a coffee. While the hotel itself doesn’t have a restaurant, its prime location means you are surrounded by some of the city’s best eateries, from traditional Scottish fare at *The Butterfly and The Pig* to world-class ramen spots.

Expert reviews

New York Times review:

“Part of a new wave of well-designed cheap hotels with noticeably smaller rooms, Point A offers extremely comfortable beds, small bathrooms and a great breakfast just steps from many of the bars, restaurants and other attractions in the City Centre, perhaps making the lack of space somewhat less of an issue.”

Shortlisted in New York Times’ 36 Hours in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Great location, very clean and friendly.

Very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Great for a one night stay. The rooms with no window are very small but perfect for a one night stay

Next time I would pick a room with a window . A kettle in the room would be great,

Bobing and weaving ducking and diving.

Local city centre for everything we needed.

The city is undergoing a lot of infrastructure work for the commonwealth game's later this year so not good for getting about as well as Central railway station after the massive fire there recently year.

Small but we’ll designed; reasonable price and well located.

They had really thought about how to maximise a small space. They had thought about how to use self service, all to keep costs down. The stag on the 24 hour reception were very helpful and very friendly. A very good location at a reasonable price. Small but we’ll designed; I’d definitely stay again.

The room was quite hot, even with the air con on minimum, it was still quite hot.

Great location, clean and friendly staff.

Room was very clean and had heaps of handy spots for storage. As you would know room size in the UK is very small but this room made up for that inconvenience. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the location is great. I thought the no windows in our room was a bit budget but I was so glad we had them so we could get some quality sleep.

Nothing to note it was all very good.

Great location. Small compact rooms but it says that on the description.

Perfect location for a visit to the city centre. On st parking available in all the surrounding streets. It’s clean & basic. We don’t have breakfast.

Bed is a standard double. I’m 6 foot tall & my legs hung over the end. The rooms & bathrooms are very same compared to other hotels we’ve stayed in.

Perfect spot for a quick trip to Glasgow!

The staff were friendly and the location was excellent!

The rooms are super tiny with a lack of convenient outlets for charging. A kettle in the room would be an added bonus but in fairness I’m not sure where they could put it.

Good location, poor facilities.

The staff were excellent, the location was great and the room was very clean.

If you don't book through their website you have to pay extra for breakfast and coffee. The rooms have no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities. I've never encountered this in a hotel before and the staff even agreed it was bad form, especially given the price.

Central Glasgow clean hotel

Central location. Clean room. Continental breakfast was fabulous 👌. Room was compact but well designed. Comfy bed. Parked in Cambridge Street multistory and got discounted rate with validated ticket (£8 for 10pm - 11am).

Nothing.

Good location, great staff but less facility.

It has a great location and the staff were extremely friendly. 0-24 reception also a plus.

The room was really small and without any facility like to table, or chair, or shelf, fridge or cabinet. We were on the road side and it was so loud as well. It was fine for 1 night but wouldn’t recommend for longer stay.

Nice hotel in city centre - Value for money

The hotel is centrally located. Though the size of the room is very compact most of the facioities are avaiable. When we need hot water and contracted Reception, they always pleased to provide the hot water, anytime we go there. Rooms are functional. Small, but clean and beautiful. We love to go there again for our next visit. Strongly recommend for families, tourists.

I do not have anything in mind except the bill amount

The accommodation was clean and fine for us, but not ideal for claustrophobics :)

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and spacious, the room had a window, and it is located in the center of Glasgow, close to the train stations and with good connections to the airport.

The fact that the accommodation is near the train station has a downside: just like in any city, the area around the station is a bit run-down, with homeless people and various vagrants—in short, people who don’t exactly give you a good impression.
Once you leave this area, however, you’ll discover the charming side of Glasgow with its friendly people.

Good location, very clean, good common area. Definitely a nice place to say for a night.

Room not large, but fine for a one night stay

Safe, clean, modern spot in a great location for exploring Glasgow

Great location, feels safe, modern hotel with compact but clean and comfortable rooms. Staff very attentive and happy to chat.

A complementary coffee (as no facilities in room) would be a nice touch. Late checkout is £25 which is disproportionate - some flexibility would go a long way to building customer care.
