Point A Hotel, Glasgow

80 Bath St, Glasgow G2 2EN, Scotland (show on map)

The Point A Hotel in Glasgow is a modern, budget-friendly retreat that opened in 2017. Designed with a sleek, “airline-inspired” aesthetic, the property focuses on efficiency and comfort, making it a popular choice for travelers who want to be right in the middle of the city’s action without the high price tag.

The hotel’s rooms are intentionally compact and clever, featuring high-quality Hypnos beds, power showers, and adjustable mood lighting. One of the most interesting aspects of the design is the range of windowless rooms available, which are specifically marketed as a quiet, dark sanctuary for those who want a guaranteed undisturbed sleep in the heart of a bustling city center.

Located just 300 meters from the Royal Concert Hall, the hotel puts you within walking distance of almost everything. You’re only a short stroll from the premier shopping of Buchanan Street, the historic Gallery of Modern Art, and the ornate Glasgow City Chambers. It’s also a perfect launching point for the city’s famous “Mural Trail,” where you can discover massive, colorful street art tucked away in the city’s historic lanes.

The hotel features a large, airy guest atrium that serves as a multi-functional space for working, dining, or simply grabbing a coffee. While the hotel itself doesn’t have a restaurant, its prime location means you are surrounded by some of the city’s best eateries, from traditional Scottish fare at *The Butterfly and The Pig* to world-class ramen spots.

Expert reviews

New York Times review:

“Part of a new wave of well-designed cheap hotels with noticeably smaller rooms, Point A offers extremely comfortable beds, small bathrooms and a great breakfast just steps from many of the bars, restaurants and other attractions in the City Centre, perhaps making the lack of space somewhat less of an issue.”

Shortlisted in New York Times’ 36 Hours in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Perfect spot for a quick trip to Glasgow!

The staff were friendly and the location was excellent!

The rooms are super tiny with a lack of convenient outlets for charging. A kettle in the room would be an added bonus but in fairness I’m not sure where they could put it.

Nothing, except maybe a wee bit expensive.

We always enjoy a stay at Point A. Staff welcoming & very helpful

Excellent staff were able to arrange breakfast bags for us as we had to catch 7.10 am bus on a bank holiday. It was so appreciated thank you.

Great location, great breakfast and clean room

Quite an impersonal place compared to all the other scottish hotels we’ve been to. Also the rooms felt like we were on an airplane.

Good location, poor facilities.

The staff were excellent, the location was great and the room was very clean.

If you don't book through their website you have to pay extra for breakfast and coffee. The rooms have no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities. I've never encountered this in a hotel before and the staff even agreed it was bad form, especially given the price.

Central Glasgow clean hotel

Central location. Clean room. Continental breakfast was fabulous 👌. Room was compact but well designed. Comfy bed. Parked in Cambridge Street multistory and got discounted rate with validated ticket (£8 for 10pm - 11am).

Nothing.

The staff, the people behind reception are the reason I’ll always rebook - I usually book direct with them (better value for money)

Great place

The location is perfect for us, close to bars, restaurants and shops

The bathroom door creaked and there were no batteries in the safe - we were only there for one night so it wasn't an issue and we reported it to reception as we checked out

Good location, great staff but less facility.

It has a great location and the staff were extremely friendly. 0-24 reception also a plus.

The room was really small and without any facility like to table, or chair, or shelf, fridge or cabinet. We were on the road side and it was so loud as well. It was fine for 1 night but wouldn’t recommend for longer stay.

Nice hotel in city centre - Value for money

The hotel is centrally located. Though the size of the room is very compact most of the facioities are avaiable. When we need hot water and contracted Reception, they always pleased to provide the hot water, anytime we go there. Rooms are functional. Small, but clean and beautiful. We love to go there again for our next visit. Strongly recommend for families, tourists.

I do not have anything in mind except the bill amount

Pleasant

Clean, decent bed, exceptional location.

Booked a room with a window which I did not get, also I know it's supposedly budget and Glasgow is insanely expensive for hotels but I feel like 90 quid should at least get me a kettle in the room. Room was a bit small, which was ok for one night but wouldn't recommend a longer stay.

The accommodation was clean and fine for us, but not ideal for claustrophobics :)

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and spacious, the room had a window, and it is located in the center of Glasgow, close to the train stations and with good connections to the airport.

The fact that the accommodation is near the train station has a downside: just like in any city, the area around the station is a bit run-down, with homeless people and various vagrants—in short, people who don’t exactly give you a good impression. Once you leave this area, however, you’ll discover the charming side of Glasgow with its friendly people.

Very good

The location and the comfortable room. The friendly and professional staff, particularly the lovely receptionist who checked us in.

The noise of a very large lorry unloading in the lane at the back of the hotel, which went on for hours in the early hours and badly disturbed our sleep. The fact that hand rowels were not supplied in the bathroom.

Good location, very clean, good common area. Definitely a nice place to say for a night.

Room not large, but fine for a one night stay

Safe, clean, modern spot in a great location for exploring Glasgow

Great location, feels safe, modern hotel with compact but clean and comfortable rooms. Staff very attentive and happy to chat.

A complementary coffee (as no facilities in room) would be a nice touch. Late checkout is £25 which is disproportionate - some flexibility would go a long way to building customer care.

The location was fantastic, close to everything in the city. The room was clean and comfortable. We got a good deal so excellent value for the room we got. Great for an overnight in Glasgow.

Only issue was the tv not working well but it didn't ruin our overall experience!

Great location, value for money and astonishing staff.

The rooms were very very tiny. Plus I believe that 11£ was a bit much for the quality and quantity of breakfast. Otherwise if someone wants a place only to sleep it's really good.

Very good

Staff were excellent and very helpful, we have stayed before and we both love the quirky room lighting, plus the room was clean. Location for the hotel was also great.

The tv reception was bad, bit we were out exploring most of the time. The room.was clean, but a little rough around the edges, such shelves were unsecure, some of the coatings on furniture were falling off creating sharpe edges, general wear and tear.

Basic but fine for an overnight stay

Great location for the concert hall. Good price. Staff are friendly. We got discount at The Tea Rooms up the road, when we showed our room card.

Bed wasn't very comfortable, only one pillow. It's fine for one evening, not having a kettle or drinking water in the room, and needing to bring up from the foyer is inconvenient.

Very good

Friendly and helpful staff. Nice comfortable bed.

Room was far too warm, air con only goes down to 19 degrees I would prefer it to go down to 16 degrees. The upgraded rooms on 4th floor don't seem any different to rooms on 1st or 2ndd floor. The hallway does have new carpeting. I would like to see non slip mats/stickers on the base of all showeres as once water hit the base it becomes very slippy and a potential hazard for a fall.

Good, but improvements can be made.

Breakfast was good.

Windows cannot be opened, so no possibility to get some fresh air. No kettle in a room, so to get a hot drink was not free of charge and I had to go to the reception.
