Hotel du Vin One Devonshire Gardens, Glasgow

1 Devonshire Gardens, Glasgow G12 0UX, Scotland (show on map)

Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens is a stunning boutique retreat set within five beautifully restored Victorian townhouses in Glasgow’s fashionable West End. Built in 1886, the hotel retains much of its original character, featuring grand sweeping staircases, intricate stained glass, and warm, oak-panelled walls that give the property an authentic, historic charm.

The hotel has long been a favorite for those seeking a touch of luxury, famously attracting celebrities like George Clooney and Britney Spears over the years. A standout feature is its dedication to the finer things in life, including a dedicated whisky room and a vast wine cellar. For those who appreciate craftsmanship, the hotel’s Bistro is highly regarded and holds three AA rosettes, serving seasonal, locally sourced cuisine.

History buffs might find it fascinating that the legendary art collector Sir William Burrell once lived in one of these very townhouses. Today, the hotel seamlessly blends this storied past with modern comforts, offering 49 individually styled bedrooms that often include features like deep roll-top baths and four-poster beds.

Located just a short walk from the vibrant Botanic Gardens and the University of Glasgow, the hotel is perfectly positioned for exploring the city’s cultural scene. You are also within easy reach of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, making it a peaceful, upscale base for discovering the artistic and architectural treasures of Glasgow.

“This luxury boutique hotel in the fashionable West End of Glasgow occupies a Grade II-listed Victorian terrace of five townhouses and offers a country house vibe, opulent rooms and an award-winning restaurant. It’s the connoisseur’s choice, and that of a galaxy of A-list celebrities.”

Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Glasgow

Beautiful hotel
It is 4or5 old houses ( we were told) converted into a hotel
The rooms are VERY spacious
Staff are excellent from checking in to checking out every member of staff we encountered could not have been more helpful
We also ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent as was breakfast
When we go to Glasgow again I would not stop anywhere else

Parking is an issue
We were fortunate enough to arrive on a Sunday and the parking is free on Sundays however to park during the week it is £15 for 3 hours !!!
To make matters worse the street is closed at one end so we had to turn around and the condition of the road at the turning area is horrendous ok if you have a tractor or a 4x4 but in a sports car you could do some damage to your car. How the council can charge such excessive prices for parking yet leave the road in such a bad condition really is beyond a joke. I’m surprised Hotel Du Vin have not had serious issues with customers cars.
There is free parking available locally we were told but when you have suitcases etc not sure this is practical

Really lovely hotel, great staff, great decor, great bar and food.

The room was lovely, spacious, well appointed and beautifully decorated. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Parking is a Ringo paid for app outside the hotel. Not their fault and nearby is free but would be nice if Council could give them permits for guests.

Great stay as always we will be back. The staff are always attentive and remember who you are.

Always the same welcome and people are the same in the restaurant and bars. They make it personal

Parking is absolutely a pain. You have to kept an eye on the time and the whole idea about using public transport is impossible. The cost of parking is extortionate

All the romance and glamour of the past with modern comforts and delightful staff.

This is such a beautiful old building. It feels like such a treat to stay in what is effectively a stately home. Great location in the West End. Lovely staff. Very nice bar with open fire.

Nothing. I always have a lovely time here.

Comfortable and Bright!

Staff were welcoming, pleasant, friendly and professional.
Checking in and out was straightforward and speedy.
Room was lovely- spacious and very clean.
Coffee, tea and chocolate biscuits (Tunnock’s Carmel Wafers)were good quality.
Had direct access to a patio.
Comfortable bed and seating.
Lovely L’Occitaine toiletries.
Fast WiFi.
Nicely cooked breakfast- I requested hard poached eggs and these were cooked to perfection for me!

For us the room was very bright and impacted on our quality of sleep as there was a security light outside our window (not sure if it belonged to hotel or a neighbour) which was on all night; this was compounded by the fact that there was a large gap at the side of the curtains. Obviously this would only be a problem for people who need a very dark room to sleep, unfortunately we are those people!
A larger choice in the buffet selection at breakfast would be nice.
Another personal choice- for me a Scottish breakfast should have a ‘tattie scone’ on it!!

Great stay, bit awkward if not with a partner

Beautiful hotel, spacious, luxurious feeling. Friendly and helpful staff, lots of little extras in the room (chocolates, hand cream, nice teas and coffees), love the robes, and the bed was incredibly comfy. We accepted the upgrade to a junior suite for 2 nights.

I've stayed here twice, once with my best friend and now with my mum, and not having a proper door or any acoustic protection around the toilet is just really uncomfortable for everyone involved. You can also see inside the glass shower door from at least half the room. Don't really see why it needs to be that way!
Also, the meal in the restaurant was 'ok'.

The Ambience Exudes Comfort and Class.

We have stayed here before and the staff are always friendly and professional. The overall ambience exudes comfort and class. The hotel is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood but well placed for easy travel to the city centre. Our suite was exceptionally comfortable and spotlessly clean.

We went out between 11am and 3pm and on return our room had not been made-up. Not a massive issue, but not expected in a hotel of this standard. We booked a Signature Suite and nowhere in the room description does it mention these suites are up 4 flights of stairs - with no lift. Again, not a huge issue but less than ideal if you have a slight knee injury.
