The Bonham Hotel, Edinburgh

Ideal location for visiting Edinburgh attractions and convenient for meeting local friends. Wonderful to have private parking in the centre of a city.

Everything was perfect: great breakfast, helpful staff, well appointed room. We think the 'muzak' at breakfast was intrusive and could have been better chosen.

Couldn’t fault anything

Staff were very friendly (first class service), view from window was amazing, breakfast was nice. Impressive cocktail and whisky menu.

Definitely more expensive than we would normally pay, but felt if everything's expensive in Edinburgh, why not pay a bit more and treat ourselves. Room was slightly on the warm side.

The experience was absolutely magnificent, the room, the welcome, and the services were fabulous, except for one small thing that really bothered me: drinking at the bar and having the bill thrown onto the table by the redheaded woman with glasses is something that I hope won't happen again in the future; it was totally unacceptable. Apart from that, my stay was idyllic.

Location, style and the room we got. Staff were all pleasant and breakfast was good. It’s a beautiful building.

Parking expensive at £20 per night. Bed was a bit too hard. Toilet in room smelled a bit unpleasant but there was no opening window.

This hotel is absolutely stunning and it smells, oh, so good!

Bed and pillows are not really comfortable, housekeeping is rather superficial. The shower is amazing for healthy young people. Cannot see older people using that comfortably.

Great location - it’s walking distance from the city centre. The common rooms are comfortable and the level of service was excellent.

The bedroom was a little on the small side and there were parts of the property that were on the wrong side of ‘shabby chic’.

The hotel is in a good location, easily walkable to the main attractions and city centre. The room was fully kitted out with radio, coffee machine they even squeezed a desk and table into the small space albeit a bit unnecessarily! Everything you need for a stay was included (iron, shoehorn, clothes brush, toiletries, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, slippers, robe)

Not all rooms have views, the basement room we were allocated was (a bit) disappointing compared to the description of all rooms having a view. The room was small but was fine for one night, but it was really warm due to the radiators being on and no way to turn them off. There was a fan in the room that helped. I am being critical due to the rating of the hotel, I would stay again but request a different room as it was a bit disappointing for the price.

Beautifully presented and spacious. Spotlessly clean and the staff were extremely helpful. Quiet location, but plenty of places to eat close by and the castle and the Royal Mile are within walking distance…albeit uphill.

Well decorated and beautiful building

This is undeniably the best hotel room I've ever stayed in. The bed mattress was wonderful, the sofa's (both of them) were super comfy. Even the dining chairs were excellent.

We had a wonderful stay at the Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh. The location is perfect—tucked away in a quiet, charming neighborhood, yet still within easy walking distance of the city center. The hotel itself is a beautiful property full of character and history, and our room was incredibly spacious, well-equipped, and very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic each morning, with a great variety of delicious options, and the staff throughout the hotel were exceptionally friendly and engaging—always ready to help with a smile. We’d definitely recommend the Bonham and would love to return!

The only downside was that our room was located directly below the restaurant, so we could hear some noise from chairs being moved above us, which was a bit disruptive at times. Still, this was a small issue in an otherwise excellent stay.

Staff were excellent - helpful, courteous and friendly. Room was comfortable and well presented. Location was great - nice and quiet, a few minutes walk from the centre.

Just one minor point - given the cost of the room I would have expected to have towels/dressing gowns to be white and fluffy not grey and rough to the touch.

The location was so easy and convenient to walk, take the tram, or the train. It was also in a beautiful location in a quiet location. The interior of the hotel was beautiful and peaceful…I felt as if I was in a beautiful and elegant home. The breakfast was delicious and the desserts as well. Our room was beautiful and do comfortable.

Fantastic stay at the Bonham, can’t fault it at all, lovely rooms, friendly staff, excellent location and delicious breakfast. Would highly recommend and hope to return again soon.

The property was very comfortable and all staff were welcoming. The attention to detail throughout the whole property was outstanding. We had a wonderful room with a view across Leith, wish made our stay perfect.

Nothing could have been better

The hotel looks and feels very grand. We were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome. Our room was beautifully decorated and all the staff we met were very polite and friendly. Our first morning we had an early excursion and didn’t have time for breakfast and the two ladies working in the breakfast room quickly arranged a small hamper of fruit and selection of pastries and coffee for us which was very nice.

An amazing building. Our Junior Suite is probably the nicest room we have stayed in.

The Bonham was the greatest surprise. Of all the places we stayed in London and Edinburgh, it the was the best! The decor is stunning! And the staff were over the top hospitable. I was especially fond of the long bearded gent who gave us a glowing review of the owners. He really loves his job! And who wouldn’t.

Beautiful property, comfy beds. Our room was really lovely and overlooked the city. The staff were amazing and spoilt my husband as it was his 70th birthday. We had birthday balloons, chocolates and a glass of bubbly from staff! Breakfast was lovely too, really yummy and in beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful. Absolutely stunning hotel. Also within easy reach of the centre and surrounding area. Perfect location as it was away from the hustle and bustle so it was quiet but then you coujd get to everything with a 10 minute walk! Perfect!

Exceptional breakfast choice and quality, in a lovely setting. The room quality, including bed and everything on it, luxurious and tasteful. Staff were very welcoming, professional and personable. I appreciated the service of bringing my luggage to the room at check in, whilst I was out and about. Also, I was given complimentary glasses of fizz that I would've taken advantage of, if not a tea-totaller.

Very pleasant stay. Room was compact but really comfortable. Good facilities and terrific friendly staff.

Everything was exceptional. Particularly light they had boiled sweets at reception and the rooms were very comfortable and a decent size well maintained or not worn.

I think more waste paper baskets could've been supplied in the room would it be nice to have more coffee pods and arrange snacks available. Location was a little bit too far from the centre but still walked. Breakfast I felt was a little bit overpriced. Would it be nice to have a heaters and covered area where one could actually smoke?

Amazing place and very friendly informative staff! The breakfast was lovely and the hotel was exceptional, We will be returning. The hotel was clean and had lots of lovely quirky characteristics.

Nice hotel, but there are a few details that could be improved: you need to push the room door with force, or it won’t lock properly—in fact, it doesn’t lock at all unless pushed firmly. The TV isn’t mounted quite straight—it has a slight tilt on the wall. Not major, but noticeable. The safe box and fridge are not secured to the shelves, so when you pull the door, the entire fridge or safe box moves with it.

We stayed at The Bonham for two nights. The décor is beautiful and the staff are friendly and attentive. The bedrooms are comfortable and luxurious. We had breakfast both morning, there is a great choice on the meu and the portions were very generous. The bar is excellent and I can recommend the Margaritas. A super stray.
